Advantages: Great, Talented Band Disadvantages: No Steve Perry
I only discovered Journey a couple of years ago, although they were formed in 1973!!
Anyway my partner is a lead singer in a band and one of his heroes is the 'legendary' Steve Perry. For those who don't know - Steve used to be the lead singer with Journey (1977-1998) before embarking on a solo career and then going into retirement.

Journey has had several frontmen since Perry always trying to recaputure what they had back then. Most of the frontmen have eiter looked like Steve Perry or sounded like Steve Perry (well tried to sound like).
Their latest singer a little Filipino guy called Arnel Pineda sounds like Perry!

He was discovered on YouTube by Neal Schon the lead guitarist from Journey singing Journey cover songs and apparently he wasn't doing a bad job and long story very very short.....Pineda was invited to audition for the frontman role.
With this album they seem to have found what they have been looking for since the departure of Steve Perry......
Revelatuon is a double album the first part of the album having all new tracks and the second re-vamped journey songs with new Arnel Pineda vocals.
CD 1
Never Walk Away Great way to kick off the album. This is the 'modern' Journey. As always great backing vocals and a very catchy chorus line.
Like a Sunflower This could in time be a classic and for me its this song that shows off Arnel's 'Perry' vocals!
Change for the Better Has a rocky, melodic chorus much like the opening track and the keyboards supplied by Jon Cain really bring the band back to their classic sound.
Wildest Dream Reminds me of an old Journey classic, but fo rthe life of me I can't think what it was!! Another rockin tune though.
Faith in the Heartland No idea why they decided to re-release this on the 'new' section of the album? Not one of my favourite to be honest
After all These Years This is for all the sensitive soles! I love this song it really is a lovely ballad and depending on my mood can bringa tear to my eye - truely lovely - top drawer.
Where Did I lose Your Love The track has a full sound which sounds like a Journey classic. It’s not a full-on rocker but the sort of mid-paced track that Journey is famous for.
What I Needed Moody and down-tempo song that sounds like something that could have come off the “Trial By Fire” album. Great bit of guiatr work from Schon on this one.
What It Takes To Win Another mid-tempo track nothing to write home about in my opinion a good album filler. Maybe it will grow on me.
Turn Down The World Tonight Piano-based tune with some more thought-provoking lyrics. It’s really great song and nice way to bring the album to a “vocal” end.
The Journey (Revelation) Instrumental end to the album, nothing we haven't heard before (or so it seems).
CD2
Only The Young Wonderful start to the second part of the album.
Don't Stop Believing Power ballad
Wheel in The Sky Extremely catchy track and one of my favourites
Faithfully Amazing ballad performed very well, however I still think Steve Perry had the edge vocally.
Any Way You Want It Once you've heard this catchy track you won't get it out of your head - Journey fan or not!
Who's Crying Now Odd little somg with no electric guiatars coming into play until the end of it.
Seperate Ways Weepy ballad!
Lights One of the first Journey songs Mr Perry sang and its still a classic. Arnel does a great job with this.
Open Arms Another wonderful ballad
Be Good To Yourself Great track, good feel factor about this old classic
Stone in Love Middle of the range track been around along time, but still does nothing for me. Although some people says its a classic.
Band Members
Neal Schon - guitars Deen Castronovo - drums Arnel Pineda - lead vocals Jonathan Cain - keyboards Ross Valory - bass

My Opinion
Nice album to have on in the car or pottering round the house. Great talent in this band and certainly an album that you wouldn't be embarassed to have on display in your collection!
Advantages: it has everything you would want from this genre Disadvantages: not for everyone, seasoned metallers only!

Whirlwind Journey 5:42
Absurd Omega Revelation 2:19
Interestingly, when I ripped my CD onto my computer for my iPod, the tracks come up as alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, theta, etc.... If anyone knows why this is, please let me know. ...
Advantages: Bible teaching put to music Disadvantages: Needs to be seen in context of his other works
and communicate timeless and deep spiritual messages through his lyrics and his music.
In this work, however, he is content to explore the emotional response to the revelation of God, as reflected in the psalms. 'Job suite' conveys neatly the various stages of Job's ordeal, with his journey from trusting innocence, through bewilderment to anger, to submission to the unknowable God. The pastoral idyll of 'My Shepherd' (Psalm 23) is preceded by the mournful tone of 'The Death of a Son'. I particularly liked the playful tone of 'Arise, My Love', which picks up the poetry of the Song of Songs.
Overall, this is a reasonable example of Michael Card's commitment to the message of the whole Bible, even if it doesn't have some of the startling powerful imagery of some of the material in 'The Beginning' or 'The Word'. Nonetheless it sits well between ...
Advantages: A wide and varied range of heavy metal. Disadvantages: None
-like metal, until it quickens up more. More thrash than the other songs though. Bit of a grower this one, I did not really like it to begin with.
The Sacrifice (4:49) is another gentle song. Classic piano and fantastic vocal skills that show of Allen?s ranging voice skills. The song builds up and we have a great solo amid it all, then rounding off with a wonderful Spanish guitars.
Revelation (Divus Pennae ex Tragoedia) (9:17) is your typical end-of-album treat. An epic journey through contrasting sounds and guitar changes. It?s a kind of summery of what has gone on before as well.
?Lost in the night wandering alone
Try as I might to escape the fight
It never let?s me go ? I?ve got to find a way
A way to rise above it all.?
On the whole Paradise Lost is a magnificent album, one I am quite amazed I did not know about before. And guess ...
