1977 - What can I say, it’s magnificent. I really do love this Cd so this is likely to be quite a biased, but then that’s what opinions are about I suppose. It begins pretty heavily with “Lose Control” . Ash I find is about the heaviest music I can listen to. ...the hype of Brit Pop, 1977 (Named so because that’s when the first Star Wars film came out and they’re big fans) isn’t all that bad. True, it’s not ground breaking rock music. Compare it to the likes of Faith No More, later Metallica and the Foo Fighters and it starts looking slightly tired and a touch clichéd. This was one of the first CD albums I bought. It isn’t, as I thought at the time, Ash’s debut album, but their second after the less memorable Trailer Park. Including the hit singles ‘Goldfinger’, ‘Girl From Mars’, ‘Oh Yeah’, ‘Angel Interceptor’ and my personal favourite ‘Kung Fu’, this is an album of variety. ...Tims lovely cutie face. I bought 1977 as soon as it came out and although i love all the singles off it i feel that the other songs are not so strong. Each single off the album has strong lycical content as well as a catchy tune such as Angel Intercepter but other album tracks are lacking this. I think that Nu Clear sounds was definately worse than this album as it's definately the best they've done.but, it you've got the singles don't bother ... Read review

1977 was a legend and still is. The highly acclaimed album from the Irish trio, was a landmark in not only my CD collection but I'm sure the collection of many others. As a budding guitarist, material which as seamless and emotionally stimulating as 1977 is rated up with high class Dutch porno and southampton football Club. Maybe the last title wasn't such a good idea, so i added a not to see if that helped. I'm not lying there are better opinions for this album but I just wanted to write one because I'm listening to it and it is such a great album I thought I should promote it. Its such a good feel good quality album that it gives me the shivers, it reminds me of last years Leeds festival. (No not the exploding toilets and booing of fire engines!) But of the atmosphere ... 1977 is a superb album. You will recognise most of it on a first playing from massive radio playing, and even featuring on Gran Turismo! Strongly Guitar based and Superb Moshing Material, all backed up with tunefull melodies and recitable lyrics. Live they are something else.
