Advantages: One of my favourite Beatles albums, full of life, soul and fantastic vocals Disadvantages: There isn't a big McCartney love song (we do get the next best thing though) and Ringo sings!
To round off this Beatlemania month, I wanted to try and justify exactly why ‘Abbey Road’ is one of the very best albums that The Beatles ever made. Although, like with most of my favourite albums, such as Placebo’s ‘Without You I’m Nothing’, ‘Abbey Road’ didn’t instantly strike me as outstanding, perhaps because I was too bowled over by the cheery ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ soundtrack, one of the other Beatles albums I received for Christmas last year. ... ...completely addicted and mesmerised by the unmistakable glory and gusto that ‘Abbey Road’ had to offer and barely a week has past since then when I haven’t had the urge it give it a listen.
In spite of their huge differences, especially in the wake of the ‘Let It Be’ sessions which saw George sporadically leave the band after arguments with both Paul and John, Mr. McCartney desperately wanted the band to go out on a high; even though ‘Abbey Road’ ...

Advantages: Every single song included, every single note I would even say. Disadvantages: The price of this and every album by this band, at least here in Spain...and the fact that this album happened to be the last this band recorded (not released)
...why they joined again, at Abbey Road Studios, in London, to record a new album, probably their best one, probably knowing it was going to be their last one as well. Martin told them the way to record it, just like as usual, with every one knowing what the rest ones were doing, and doing it right. Years after, every Beatle member would agree in the good feelings around those abbey road sessions. One day, waiting for the others, he recorded this short song, that would became the last track of their best album. It was so short, that it wouldn’t appear in the credits of the album, so it would sound by surprise, and after 20 seconds of silence after ...

...creation and the recording of Abbey Road has been well documented, with the group coming off what they saw as the failure of the Let It Be sessions. From this they decided that with the tensions within the group and the general unrest, most notably from George Harrison, they would try and create one final album that would return to some of the roots of their earlier albums, although this became somewhat subverted throughout the recording process. ... ...what is often called the Abbey Road Medley, which runs from tracks nine to sixteen. This track is great with some really nice changes and dynamics going from a slower vocal piece to a slightly more powerful narrative part and back again. This marks the beginning of what I see as the second half of the album and it is a great one to boot. 10. Advantages: Their finest work Disadvantages: It was their last work
Abbey Road, released on September 26, 1969, was the last album recorded by the Beatles, and although Let It Be hit the shelves in 1970, that album was recorded before Abbey Road. During their legendary career as a band, the Beatles recorded several albums which could be described as masterpieces, but in my opinion, Abbey Road tops the list. Abbey Road presents the listener with a virtual audio montage of music that is as varied as anything the Beatles ... ...roll history. The tracks on Abbey Road, and my impressions of each, are as follows:
1. Come Together--Lennon pinched a Chuck Berry guitar lick as the central riff in this song, and McCartney's bass playing, melodic and wandering, compliments it perfectly. The lyrics are typical Lennon gibberish, although there are some personal references--"He got Ono sideboard" is a clear allusion to Yoko, who by this time was always by his side. The tune is largely ...

Advantages: The songs man, the songs Disadvantages: It heralded the end of an epoch
Abbey Road was my first Beatles album and is also my favourite. It is a true masterpiece, a work of which I never tire. I first bought my own copy up in January 1998, and I regret not having one for the nineteen years of my life that preceded it. Since I was a late Beatles developer, I was determined to catch up and I’m very glad that I did. I have become convinced that there are certain sounds that benefit the soul, certain melodies that, ... ...will, but I believe that Abbey Road falls into this category, once you hear it, you will not forget a single note.
Furthermore, the album cover itself is a classic. It is one of the most recognisable images in modern history. I challenge anybody with a sense of humour to go to Abbey Road and not walk across that Zebra Crossing. It’s just impossible! Or perhaps it’s just me.
Another interesting part of the Abbey Road album is the ‘Paul ...

...Low Standards ah-hoy! Abbey Road is the last album the Beatles recorded together though not the last released, as thus it seems to show signs of the deterioration of the relationships in the band. John Lennon in particular appears to have totally lost interest in the band. His grit is sadly missing at times when it's needed to save us from that Paul McCartney, but at least George Harrison puts in a good performance. And lets give Ringo the benefit ... ...My favourite Beatles album is Sgt Peppers followed by the overly bloated White Album. This album shows signs of both those albums and yet is nothing like either. It lacks the coherency of Sgt Peppers and it lacks the band-wide determination for experimentation of The White Album. Yet it is still a great album, how they manage to ride this fine line between appalling and tremendous is beyond me but they pull it off, somehow they pull it off most likely ...

...downright silly way is that Abbey Road is very good. Good enough to inspire me to right another very nearly, but not quite, wholly unremarkable opinion. Lucky you! This, despite the fact that it was released before the album Let It Be, was the last recorded work of the Beatles. And a hell of a way to go out as well, this is probably their finest work. Advantages: It's by the Beatles. Disadvantages: The Beatles weren't always perfect.
...George Harrison, whose contributions to Abbey Road, "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun", prove that he could match Lennon and McCartney as a songwriter, if not quite as a prolific songwriter. Like the Beatles themselves, Abbey Road is flawed but fabulous. It has its longueurs but it has its lusciousness too, and I can't think of any other band who could have written music worthy of that cover: classically simple but with unending depths. ...

Advantages: Great songs, do you need anything else? Disadvantages: None
Abbey Road was the last Beatles recorded studio album. Chronologically it wasnt their last, with Let It Be scooping that honour. Legend has it that each Beatle couldnt stand the sight of the other Beatle and the issue of who managed the band started to envelop their world. It seems like they had a lot on their plate but it was in this atmosphere that they produced some of their best music.
Unlike some of the other records, apart from Revolver, this ... ...fitting considering that their future was in the balance. It is one of their longest records with seventeen songs capturing the magic of the worlds greatest ever band.
Things kick off with the double header of Come Together and Something. The latter is one of the best songs on the album and has been declared by Frank Sinatra to be the greatest love song of the 20th century. High praise indeed but the song deserves it. Every apect of the song is ...

Advantages: Some classic tracks Disadvantages: Sounds a bit like it was thrown together
"Abbey Road" was the Beatles' final recording, the last time all four Fabs got together in the studio, the final nail in the coffin, so to speak. It's common knowledge that things were not going well between them, the four were going their separate ways… and I have to say that this shows in the music.
The album cover caused all kinds of rumours about Paul being dead (all the signs were there - his bare feet, the car registration number...?!?), all ... ...the time of release.
It has been said that Lennon wasn't contributing very much to the Beatles' recordings at this point (spending all his time with Yoko). In fact on "Abbey Road" he only emerges as a prominent vocalist on three tracks. But where he does, it was worth him making the effort. "Come together" is an excellent song, in my opinion the best on the album. It's got a superb introduction, all reverb, and even now it sounds incredibly powerful ...
