Advantages: Aerosmith at their 'root's/ Some great songs! Disadvantages: Too 'bluesy' for you? Recording quality is quite poor.
...line of the first track, Aerosmith is so full of energy that it seems like the band knew they were at the start of something big. Good Evening People, welcome to the show says it all. However, the album was released amid "less than total national joy," says guitarist Joe Perry. It was largely ignored by the music press, and the few critics that did notice Aerosmith appeared to dismiss the band as a second-rate imitation of the Rolling Stones or the ... ...the Aerosmith members were much more technically proficient musicians than the New York Dolls, and their sound was much more hard-rock based than that of the Rolling Stones. As a result the album didn't sell many copies and the band was almost dropped from Columbia Records. Advantages: roots of band, some classic tracks, raw 70's blues Disadvantages: doesn't sound like modern day Aerosmith, no MTV hits, MAY be disappointing
...that have featured on the Aerosmith set list for the last 30-odd years. The other tracks hold their own though, with ‘Make It’ and ‘Somebody’ showing the young band’s burning ambition, and ‘One Way Street’ and ‘Movin’ Out’ showing the frustrations of their lives at that time. It’s great to listen to this album knowing it is the roots of what is now America’s biggest rock band.
... ...by Columbia and Leber-Krebs (their management at the time) the album may sound a little bit rushed or hasty to some people. I can never decide whether it does sound rushed, or whether they are just a bit impetuous. Either way, it is over before it should be, but in a way that is good because you are left yearning for more of the same.
If you are an Aero-virgin then this might not be the best album to get into them if you are used to the newer MTV ...
