Advantages: Twelve beautiful tracks sang by an angel. Disadvantages: None!
'''Reasons For Purchasing:''' Affirmation is the second music album from the Australian Pop Duo "Savage Garden". I was first introduced to this group after the third song from their debut album called "Truly, Madly, Deeply" was released into the UK chart and knocked Elton Johns "Candle In The Wind" of the number one spot that it had held for fourteen weeks. I was blown away by this beautiful love song whenever I first ever heard it played and fell ... ...top ten also from memory. Affirmation went on to sell 13 million copies worldwide and unfortunately it was Savage Gardens last album that they made together, as they sadly spilt up and went their own separate ways in 2001. Affirmation is a really great album in my eyes and one of my most listened to albums that I have in my CD collection. I personally like this album better than Savage Gardens Debut album, also called "Savage Garden" by the way. ...

Advantages: It's fab with great songs Disadvantages: They split up - damn them!!
Ok people, this is my first attempt at an album review so please be gentle with me. The album I am reviewing is ‘Affirmation’ by Savage Garden. For all those who don’t know who they are - YOU HAVE NO TASTE WHATSOEVER AND I WASH MY HANDS OF YOU!!!!! Ahem, this isn’t really what you would call a band as there are only two of them, Darren Hayes who is the lead man and does all of the main singing and Daniel Jones who prefers to stay in the background ... ...I think if I remember correctly, they are Australian (not that that makes any difference to whether you will like them or not).
What I particularly like about this pair is that not only do they have the voices of angels (I’m a sucker for a good voice) but they write all their own songs and co-produced the album with Walter Afanasieff, which in my book just makes this album even better. They made sure it was done to the standards they had set - true ...

**Affirmation**
Affirmation is the second of their two album releases and features the classic singles Crash and Burn, Hold Me and Affirmation and of course the ballad I knew I loved you. It was released on 8th November 1999. It became hugely successful and has sold 13 million records worldwide. The album takes on an overall more soft feel than their debut as the album seems to be more about melodies than all out attack. The album is again ... ...with the title track, Affirmation is a fantastic song which has a very catchy feel, it's about having belief in your own opinion's and having the confidence and belief in what you are saying. The beat and keyboards are the highlight of the music on this track.
2.) Hold Me
This is a delightfully good ballad about being there for someone when they are feeling low or when they are feeling good. I like the guitar on this track and this track sounds ...

Advantages: better than a normal boyband Disadvantages: still a boy band though
A “boy band” with real musical talent is a concept that I normally find hard to picture and let alone stomach. Some teenyboppers might now be heading for that unhelpful link in disgust but I’m sorry to break it to you, Westlife really aren’t that talented! In fact, neither are Boyzone, Five (may the rest in peace) or as a matter of fact were Take That and New Kids on the Block. Bands like these are “pretty boys” ... ...a record label!
Savage Garden might just be different. You still have that much loved (by teenage girls anyway) boy band persona but at the same time you have a band with a reasonable amount of musical credibility. They (SG) write their own songs, play their own instruments on top of having the standard vocals. Moreover, their music isn't comparable to the manufactured Westlife/Boyzone music sound. This doesn't mean that its suitable to everybody ...

Advantages: Makes you feel like there's light at the end of the tunnel and feel good about life in general. Disadvantages: No, there aren't any. Every song is top quality.
If you enjoyed the brisbane duo's first offering ('savage garden') then i would certainly reccomend this offering. A wonderful mix of tuneful melodies and lyrics packed with emotion is an unbeatable combination.
The album kicks off with the irresistible title track 'affirmation', which is in truth a potential classic. An absolute stomper which sets the pace for the whole album. 'The best thing' and 'chained to you' continue the upbeat theme, whilst ... ...a heart wrenching ballad, 'hold me' and 'I knew i loved you' almost match the highs of 'Truly madly deeply' featured on their debut album.
'The animal song' is another hi-energy song complete with big drums in the first few seconds. The last few tracks find the lads sounding more melancholy than usual. The tragic tale of domestic abuse is porrayed beautifully in '2 beds and a coffee machine' and the less commercial sounding 'you can still be free' ...

Advantages: TIMELESS ENDURING LYRICS ACCOMPANIED BY A MELODIC TUNE. Disadvantages: UNWITTINGLY DEPRESSIVE AT TIMES
Introduction
Affirmation ~ yet another work of genius from this groundbreaking band. Affirmation, following their debut album had to be good; it had to be flawless if it was to be as good as there first. What good would it do the band to release a real let down, after the enormous build up the fans had been given. Part of the key to this albums chart topping success was the huge gap between the release of this and there first. 8) The lover after me----This song is about a past relationship that you have broke from but see reminders around and it haunts you. This is a very emotional song very intense and very meaningful. I like this song but it is still depressing. This does however ...

Advantages: Great songs, great lyrics and great vocals Disadvantages: None
Affirmation is Savage Gardens second album following their debut album "Savage Garden". It features 12 tracks in total, all very well written and unique. It was released November 1999. The band consist of Darren Hayes/lead and background vocals, co- writer of songs, Daniel Jones/keyboards, programming and additional guitars, co-writer of songs, Anna-Maria La Spina/lead backing vocals, Lee Novak/live bass, Karl Lewis/live drums and Ben Carey/live ... ...song with very cleaver lyrics about life in general the highs and lows. This is one of my favourite's and is excellent to listen to in the car and great to motivate you. (gets me doing the housework) 2. Hold me: A slow and moving song based around the breakdown of relationships that gets to the point of no return. This is an ok song but not for the broken hearted. I found this song to be too slow and depressing more for background music. 3. I knew ...

...feeble vocals. Affirmation is a true catharsis. It’s an album that makes you feel, makes you think and makes you want to replay each track over and over again. All twelve tracks have captivating harmonies and powerful words, with which many people can identify.

Affirmation is one of those songs that can sell you an entire album, even if you’ve never heard any of the other tracks.
With lines such as, “I believe in Karma, what you give is what you get returned” and “You cannot appreciate real love until you’ve been burned”, seem to demonstrate that Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones have lived, loved and lost just like the rest of us. And that they are not afraid or ashamed to admit it. They certainly ...

Advantages: Interesting and entertaining Disadvantages: None
...listening to music. Savage Garden's Affirmation has become a regular in my rotation of CDs for driving. Their music is generally upbeat, pop-sounding without sinking to the worse aspects of pop music, with interesting and meaningful lyrics and a variety of tempos to keep the CD interesting for the long drive.

I believe I'm loved when I'm completely by myself alone...

Advantages: some wonderful songs, poetic Disadvantages: patchy in places
...the album… The album Affirmation is the second from Savage Garden, it is not really my type of music but it was a Christmas pressie. I would class this music as slushy lovely pop music, normally the kind I stay away from. I wasn’t impressed when I got this as a present, but I smiled anyway, like you do, it’s the thought that counts. It is full of very impressive songs, and coming from a dance chick that’s an honour! The most ... ...Song 1 – Affirmation The title track of this album kicks it off to a flying start, I didn’t think much of the tune and to be honest the singer doesn’t sing as much as talk over the music. However the lyrics are brilliant and it is one of my favourites for words. Very upbeat and full of positive vibes, I would listen to this on a morning, to try and coax me out of bed! Advantages: The music and lyrics Disadvantages: It's one of those albums that you could become really depressed too!
Affirmation contains some of Savage Gardens most well known and probably best to dat singles including Crash & Burn, Affirmation, I knew I loved you and The Animal Song. All the other singles on the album appear to be lesser known to people who don’t own the album but are all up to the standard of Savage Garden. I’m not quite sure how to describe their songs. There not pop, not love and not ballad, infact, if you put all of that together ... ...forget about the background music! Affirmation is a great example of the strong lyrics as is ‘I knew I loved you’
So, what sort of mood do you have to be in to appreciate the songs. Well, I’d guess it’s best not to be in a depressed mood as you’ll just end up in tears, and don’t listen if you have had a recent relationship split up! Do listen to it though in the evening when your relaxing, with the headphones ...

Advantages: Thought-provoking, catchy, chilling and beautiful Disadvantages: None at all
The first time I heard this song, I froze. The combination of Savage Garden's excellent sound and the totally groundbreaking lyrics really did stop me in my tracks. Sometimes, music can just hit a nerve within you, and this song does exactly that. In my opinion, it is one of the most beautiful songs in the charts today. Savage Garden sing about the wrongs and rights in the world. Classic examples of lyrics in this song include, "I believe the struggle ... ...to disagree are millionaires," and the chorus, which starts, "I believe in karma; what you give is what you get returned. I believe you can't appreciate real love till you've been burned." The entire song is chillingly real and beautifully done, and I would recommend you listen to it. Utterly thought-provoking. ...

Advantages: Catchy, sing-along, appealing, high-quality songs that EVERYONE will love, no matter what music you're usually into Disadvantages: None at all!
Savage Garden have some inexplicable quality that sets them apart from the competition. The more I heard of their music, the more I wanted to hear, and so I bought the album on the strength of my own curiousity. I was definitely not disappointed. You don't need to be a pure pop fan or an intense ballad-lover to enjoy this CD - I'm usually a garage girl and yet this has become a firm favourite! Okay, so most of these songs won't have you gyrating ... ...addictive. They have a great sound and display absolutely massive vocal talent. From upbeat numbers like 'Affirmation' and 'The Best Thing' to much slower songs like 'I Knew I Loved You' and 'Crash And Burn', they're all strangely sing-along-able and after one or two spins you'll be utterly hooked on this CD. If you're the literary type or a hopeless romantic like me, take a peek into the lyrics - they are stunningly beautiful and this CD is probably ...

...Garden since 1995. I bought Affirmation well over a year ago - and I'm still playing it! This is the best album I have heard in ages. And is definitely worth buying buying because the consistency of the tracks is amazing. There is not a weak track on this album and every song is well written, and sung from the heart.
I find it quite amazing that Darren and Daniel are still releasing tracks off this 1999 album. 'The Best Thing' in shops this week ... ...have you up and dancing within a second. It is good value for money as now there have been 6 singles taken from it in the UK [The Animal Song, I knew I loved you, Crash and Burn, Affirmation, Hold Me and The Best Thing]. Most people associate Savage Garden with smoochy ballads, but this album proves that there is so much more to the band than that. It is definitely better than their self titled debut and has a long shelflife. I know I'll be playing ...
