...I first got into All Saints when they released their sultry, moody "Never Ever" which stormed into the charts and stayed there for a month (or more, I forget). The speakers break into music with Never Ever being the first song on the album. It's quite a long song, but is ideal for listening to when you need to belt out your vocal chords or just wanna relax. The next song on the album is Bootie Call. This has gone into the odd side of the album, ...
...This happens to be the All Saints' first single, and I think it worked for them in the charts. I'm not really sure it works on the album, especially being place 3, but it's a good song, bit repetitive in parts. Next is "Under The Bridge". This is a cover of the Red Hot Chili Peppers's song of the same name, but with a few slight changes. Not bad, probably one of my favourites on the album. As a whole, I do like the voices of Spice better, but Shaznay and Natalie have an incredible depth to their voice that is often hidden in their overdone vibrato. ...the music. I like the all saints and i think they can sing superbly + they look stunning too, but when you pay to see a live act you would atleast expect them to sound intime with the music. ...eye for life. It all started promisingly and few could deny Never Ever was a passable first effort. However we did not realise it then but the first song was also their peak, after that it was downhill. Songs like Booty Call seemed little more than an excuse to meander moodily about the stage. Only Pure Shores will join Never Ever on any lasting radio playlist and that is due more to the production than any effort All Saints put in. All too soon ...
