...studios in California and recorded Appetite for Destruction. Little did they know that it would become the greatest hard rock album ever. Upon its initial release it didn't go anywhere, at least until the video for Sweet Child O' Mine got massive airplay on MTV. The album would go to #1 a year after its release, driven by such classics as Sweet Child, Welcome to the Jungle, and Paradise City. During this time, hair metal and glam rock was sweeping ... ...That would all change. Guns N' Roses' arrival to the hard rock scene couldn't have come at a better time. While all their peers were singing about love and girls, GNR sang about drugs, sex, murder, rape, everything that was "taboo" at the time. They had a sense of rebellious energy, mixed with a tender, sensitive side, and were led by the ever present frontman W. Axl Rose, whose voice was beautiful and angry at the same time. To this day this record ...

...in 1989.
Now onto Appetite for Destruction. The cover features the GN’R cross a design made by Mr. Slash himself. Recorded at Rumbo Studios in California, this CD (although I still have my original cassette!) is a mixed bag of sex drugs and rock and roll. Certainly not one for the faint of heart.

Opens with a legendary guitar rift, rumbles ... ...paced vocals, but somewhat staggered as Axl becomes almost animalistic. The feel my serpentine line is always greeted by a smile as he used to grind his pelvis at this bit. The guitar slows down, with gentle picks, just then you are launched into Axl screeching once more. I really like the bass bit where the maracas can be heard and there is a cacophony of multi layered screaming guitar. ‘It’s going to bring you down’

Advantages: Lots of bangers Disadvantages: Some take a while to get into
“Appetite For Destruction” came in 1987 as a classic album as it dropped as the debut release from the Californian Hard Rock band Guns N’ Roses. It gets the classic band line up with Axl Rose leading Slash, Duff McKagen, Steven Adler and Izzy Stradlin with their innovative approach to Rock in the late eighties. 1. “Welcome To The Jungle” The album begins with a relevant opener as they introduce them selves with what was their second single as they ... ...an empowering tune. It is a rough one and a perfect choice to get things going and to excite the listeners for what is to come within the release. It’s not one of my favourites of their early years, but still a good one. **Four Stars** 2. “It’s So Easy” Moving things on a little, you get another big one from them as they are seen to get down into another of their singles here the band comes with one which makes full use of the talent in Slash (and ...

I bought Appetite for Destruction about two years ago and instantly I loved it. This was a big release for Guns n’ Roses in 1987 and the one that propelled them to stardom. This album was released on the Geffen label, a part of MCA. For those of you who are unaware who Guns n’ Roses are, let me fill you in with a bit of history about the band. This, as I mentioned, was their first release with the original band set-up of Axl Rose doing vocals, Slash ... ...more album fillers. However, Appetite for Destruction is as good as either of the Use Your Illusion albums by the group and for those who have heard nothing by the group before, this could be a good starting point. Although if you would rather just have their best songs then the Greatest Hits is the best point of call. Appetite for Destruction is an album well worth buying, however, if you dislike Axl Rose’s voice or don’t like a bit of quality rock ...

Anybody remember "Brittania Music" that company where you got a few free albums and then got sent one per month the company thought "you may be interested in",but you weren't because they sent you Sinatra and you listened to Slayer!, then you spent the next 10 months trying to cancel the orders with the company but the tapes kept on getting sent and getting sent and getting sent. When the cassette came through the post i rushed to the stereo and put the album on and cranked it to 10, the opening track with its repetitive guitar soundscape riffage intro, poured through the speakers, and then into the main song with Axl's caustic lyrics screeching out at full tilt...."WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE, WE'VE GOT............." this was ...

Advantages: Just a wonderful album Disadvantages: Some may be offended by the lyrics
...cause was an album called Appetite For Destruction by the then unknown Los Angeles band Guns n Roses. Formed in a merger between groups Hollywood Rose and LA Guns, the band managed, in one fail swoop, to do what the likes of Aerosmith and The Rolling Stones had been doing for years - but do it so much better. In a time when pop music and electro were all the rage and hip-hop was the emerging new style, Appetite For Destruction put the rock genre ... ...the boundaries of metal, punk and glam-rock, the album struck a perfect balance of parent-shocking lyrics and well-written rock songs that were performed with no compromise in quality.
From the first bar of the first track - the group's flagship song Welcome To The Jungle - the listener was plunged into the ugly side of the LA music industry with an energy that rock music was sadly lacking at that time. The lyrics warn of the dangers of fame and ...

...sex does indeed sell, and Appetite for Destruction, what with the pornographic sounds on Rocket Queen, can be proof of that - over 16 million records sold! (Though this may not have been the case had they chosen to stick with the controversial painting of the same name for the cover art.) Tongue-in-cheek aside, I must admit, although I'd never be a fan of Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction is a really good rock record.
Music musings:
1. Welcome ... ...Mine
Appetite for Destruction opens to a swarm of guitars that is Welcome to the Jungle, which is sure to whet the appetite for hard rock! The three tracks are good choice of singles, though not my favourites off this album.
3. Nightrain; 8. Think About You
These are my favourite tracks off this album - both happen to begin with a count-in from a cowbell. Nightrain, released as a single, showcases some great guitar solos from Slash. Izzy Stradlin ...

...songs and their debut album Appetite for Destruction stands as testament to this.
Through out the early eighties the various members who were to gel into one of the finest street rock bands of its time paid their dues with the struggling musicians of its time. Some of these bands came and went without troubling the music press too much, such as Hollywood Rose, the band that first through singer Axl Rose and guitarist Izzy Stradlin, and Road Crew ... ...band united. Other bands such as LA Guns, which temporarily featured Axl Rose on vocals, went on to success, but this melting pot of wannabees eventually threw together the original line up of Guns N` Roses and in 1987 the debut album was released to critical acclaim. Fusing a street rock attitude with a hard rock sound G N`R managed to create a unique identity that set them apart from the other contenders. Add to that a lyrical input that was at ...

...Roses come in. Appetite for Destruction is a full out hard rock album, its a very sleazy album, but that what makes it so great. The members of the band that performed on this album are: Axl Rose, Slash, Duff, Izzy and Steven Adler. Their debut album has a much more unified sound that most of their later albums, due to the fact that the band was going through a lot of changed, and it could be easily seen that they werent stable at all. Now for the ... ...great hard rock song, that was released as the first single, although it had to be re-released. The lyrics are good, if nothing special. And the song does not really have a chorus, but it doesnt take away anything from it. 8/10 2)Its So Easy: A sleazy rock/punk song. ...all time metal band, and Appetite for Destruction is one of the best examples of that.
Here's a rundown of the tracks:
1. Welcome To The Jungle (4:31)
Well what can you say about this track, it has everything a metal song should have, a great opening guitar riff, which leads into an equally great bridge to the rhythm. Great rhythm throughout with great lead guitar over the top of it, going into a subtle guitar solo. The lyrics are extremely thought-provoking, ... ...that features no swearing, although the lyrics are suggestive in places. Probably the best song on the album.
2. It's So Easy (3:21)
Again great opening guitar riff. Subtle rhythm, combined with aggressive drumming. Less lead played over the top, but a great guitar solo. Lyrics are a bit repetitive, but not enough to spoil the song. Good album filler.
3. Nighttrain (4:26)
One of the best songs on the album for lead guitaring, right from the opening ...

A brave 16 year old boy, ventures into an independant record store. Putting on a brave face, ready for humiliation, he picks up Guns N'Roses 'Appetite For Destruction'. The album is full of great guitarism, supreme solos and riffs. Slash is definately 'THE MAN!' The album starts with a great track, 'Welcome To The Jungle', and then you get two songs which are fairly good, then is the supreme 'Night Train'.

...no wonder that following 1987's Appetite for destruction Guns n Roses became one of the most succesful rock bands ever. Their sell out tours to support the Illusion albums show that.
