ARE YOU EXPERIENCED?
On the 20th May 1967 a little known three-piece rock outfit known as the Jimmy Hendrix Experience released their first LP 'Are You Experienced'. This record quite literally changed the world of rock music. The band made up of Jimi Hendrix (lead Guitar), Mitch Mitchell (Drums) and Noel Redding (Base) had been brought together by ex-Animals Chas Chandler and after some time building up a fan following ... ...the Sun

Advantages: Great music by a guitar maestro Disadvantages: Jimi left us way too soon
...creating styles that guitarists today are still trying to emulate. It's fair to say that my whole musical philosophy and playing style changed when I first heard the debut album of Jimi Hendrix in 1967--Are You Experienced? really taught me how music is irrevocably linked to the human mind. "Mind over matter" is a pretty old saw that few of us really take literally, but Jimi Hendrix showed all musicians, especially guitarists, that wringing hot licks ... ...truly his own. All guitarists are influenced to some extent by the styles of other guitarists--what separates the great ones from the rest of us is the personal spin that the player puts on his influences. So it was with Jimi Hendrix--his blues and jazz influences were stood on their respective heads and rearranged, creating a playing style that was unique and truly one of a kind. I had the great pleasure of seeing Jimi Hendrix in concert in 1968 ...

...theme explored on the album are the blues, a staple for Hendrix and etched into his musical background, of which more can be seen on the release of Blues. The songs themselves are al around three and a half minutes in length, a feature trumped by Chas Chandler, as he believed that all songs should have the capability to be released as singles. But despite these perhaps constraining elements, Hendrix's ability as both a writer and a guitarist shine ... ...you check which one you are purchasing. 1. Foxey Lady ***** The opening to this album is a classic, with the slow build up from the guitar before it heightens and the drums and bass are released upon the listener. This song was said by Hendrix to be one of the few happy songs in his canon, although whether this is true or not is down to the listener themselves. The guitar is the main highlight on this song, as is backed up well by Mitchell, but the ...

...Are You Experienced is the Experience's explosive, groundbreaking debut and stands in music history as one of the all time classic albums, a milestone in the road of rock guitar. Jimi’s first, and in my opinion, best studio album. Almost every track is a classic. Foxy Lady, Purple Haze, Hey Joe, Fire – they’re all here as well as some the casual music listener may not have heard, especially Highway Chile. The sheer musicianship of the album will knock you out, Hendrix was on blinding form, Noel’s bass playing is spot on and Mitch’s drumming sounds more like he’s playing an instrument than percussion. Stunning! Simply, you ...

Advantages: Great songs, great guitar, great drums, great, great, great. Disadvantages: None whatsoever.
Are You Experienced was the first album by Jimi and his rhythm section pals Mitch and Noel and in my opinion their best. Jimi didn't live long but he lived long enough to deliver some masterpieces, its incredible to imagine what kind or what level rather of music he might have made had he lived. But ah well enough of that wishing. The album was voted #15 on a list of Greatest Albums of All Time by Rolling Stone, just my way of consolidating my opinions. ... ...bass from Noel. The lyrics are slightly cheesy but I think Jimi can be forgiven. Its not the strongest track on the album but its different and shows Hendrix to be more than one sided. The solo is excellent, but don't me wrong, many may see Hendrix as simply a guitarist but Hendrix is not overtly showy and is a brilliant songwriter asides from a brilliant guitarist and this album more than demonstrates that. Fire A faster number all... err standing ...

'Are You Experienced?' is the debut album from the late, great Jimi Hendrix. Along with drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding, he created one of the most original sounds in music and laid down guitar work that has yet to be replicated or even for anyone to come close to. It was recorded in 1967 but it's absolutely the most timeless album I've ever heard. It was reissued in 1997 with 6 extra tracks on CD. In contrast to Jimi Hendrix's other ... ...reign throughout, coupled with mind-bending effects, and sometimes eerie vocals. This would have to be candidate for the greatest debut rock album of all time but isn't my favourite hendrix album.
Looking at some of the tracks:
'Are You Experienced' is the stunning title track that oozes talent and where Jimi asks 'Have you ever been experienced' to which he replies 'I have'. It just swirls and shuffles with a plethora of sounds.
'Purple Haze' ...

...best tracks written by Hendrix are on here. Hendrix means every note plucked out of his guitar, which coupled with his laid-back singing style, is cool personified. The whole album takes you up and down through a roller coaster of emotions through a hail-storm of guitar sounds that fuses into a real head banging, but at the same time 'smooth' experience. Psychedelia at its very best, go out and buy it, you won't be disappointed. ...

...than cheery soft pap, there are only two albums that could possibly collect the aforementioned accolade. One is 'Electric Ladyland,' and the other is this. Jimi Hendrix is God.
