...Mother' and 'I'm Ok'
Back To Basics is Christina's third English album ; her first being Christina Aguilera and her second one named Stripped. This album was released in the United Kingdom in August 2006. The album is different to her other songs as it is based on the 20's , 30's and 40's and there is a jazzy feel to it rather than it being a 'pop album'. To date this album has sold 4.5 million Cds worldwide. Running time of the album is 78 minutes ... ...to have a change.
Back To Basics is one of my favourite albums because it is so different to the music we listen to these days. I think Christina was very daring to put out an album like this as how well it would do was unpredictable but still she went with that. Because of that reason I admire her ; she knows what she wants and she will reach for it regardless. You can tell that Christina had a lot to do with this album and that this is really ...

...having black hair and then back again. The first song i heard from her new album 'Back to basics' was her hit, 'Ain't no other man' which is a more modern day feel song. This song refers to her newlywed husband, Jordan Bratman, who quite a few songs on the album are dedicated to. I instantly liked the song when i heard it, and once i got used to it, I loved it. She sings to the best of her ability as usual, and brings a funky beat to the song (Something ... ...The tracklisting is:

9. On Our way
10. Without you
11. Still dirrty
12. Here to stay

From this Disc, my favourites would have to be Oh Mother, and undertstand. If you've heard Christina's last album 'stripped' or the song 'I'm ok,' You'll recognise this theme of the ...

...coming over me, I'm taken back in disbelief" and, funnily enough, that is how you feel. This song is very gospel inspired but Christina's voice shines through! The content matter is basically how she has changed and it makes her wanna pray! I guarantee you will be singing along by the end! It is a real foot tapper and it's a fantastic start. 9/10

I love this song and I think it shows the musical transition Christina has made. 9/10

3. Back in the day
Like a mission statement for the whole album, this song reinforces the fact that christina is in fact going 'back in the day' and this references all kinds of old singers such as etta james, billie holiday and aretha franklin. The chorus is catchy but the constant singer references are dull and the lyrics are boring, WE GET IT CHRISTINA, BACK TO BASICS AND ALL THAT.
4. Aint no other man

10. Without you
There is nothing wrong with this song. Its perfectly fine. But its forgettable filler with sappy lyrics and adds nothing except making this album too long.
11. Still dirrty
Now this is better. Ok so referencing your own songs is a rubbish thing to do but at least this jaunty poppy song is a lot more fun than ...

Makes me want to Pray /// this song has so much energy and emotion. Beautiful lyrics and vocals
Back in the Day /// this song is a bit more pop rather than jazz, it’s catchy.

...how she's going to go back to the basics of music such as jazz. Nice little intro to set you up for the album.
Makes me wanna Pray - So much energy in this song. I just saw her on tour and this song is so amazing live. Her vocals are on top notch. Back in the Day - Really catchy song and people who aren't fond of jazz will like this song as it is pop and really gets stuck in your head.
Ain't no other man - The hard beats and horns in this song, ... ...songs that really takes it back to the 20's and 30's. The way the song is sung and the microphone used it sounds really vintage. I'm not really keen on this song, but it adds another level to the album.

...proper feel good tune.
Back In The Day [4:13] -
- Soul and really really cool rap sound bytes in the background. James Brown & Otis Redding references. Feel good diva song with an edge of ultimate coolness.
Ain'tNo Other Man [3:48] -
- Lots of big big Christina vocals teamed with brass and medium speed beats. Lots of soulful attitude, think Arethra Franklin.
Understand [3:46] -
- Chilled reggae style beat, a nice tune. Soft and more feminine.
... ...in this with saxophone. More vocals than beat. Woman-power song "Don't mess with me" kind of stuff.
Oh Mother [3.46] -
- A bit depressing, Christina sings from within in this song.
F.U.S.S. (Interlude) [2.21]
On Our Way [3:36] -
- Piano heavily featured in this song, lows and high experiences sung about and narrated in this song. Less tuneful, more about the lyrics.
Without You [3:56] -
- Lovely guitar plucking in the background. Not the best ...

...Christina Aguilera.
This time looking back at the people who have inspired her throughout her career and taking the best parts from each.
I believe her music has got an old fashioned twist mixed in with modern day life.

...The Album is called Back to Basics and there are 2 disks. The songs have been split into two genres: - Modern and Old School.
Disk 1 Modern
1. Intro - The usual kind of intro which you would expect from CA. Tracks and sounds dubbed together. Gets you raring to hear the rest.

Advantages: Some very strong tracks, lots of tracks for your money Disadvantages: one or two weaker tracks
I've liked Christina Aguilera since her early pop princess days and this album is by far and her way her best album by a very long way!
This is a double CD. The first CD has a more modern feel while the second CD has a much swingier feel.
