...the music scene, the remarkable Big Ones. The album is actually a ‘best of’ compilation, that covers the three albums released over the previous seven years from 1994, Permanent Vacation, Pump and Get a Grip, and, in my mind, is one of the most flawless rock n’roll albums ever released.
Aerosmith’s music, especially in the early days, was based on the extremely talented guitar skills of Joe Perry and the unique, powerful yet versatile vocals of ... ...due to my tender years, Big Ones could be seen as a band betraying it’s roots and selling out. I’ll admit compared to the supreme brilliance captured on their first ‘best of’ – Aerosmith Live Bootleg, it lacks the edge of songs like Sweet Emotion, Walk this Way and Dream On (arguably their finest song ever) but it still contains an amazing collection of songs. In addition it marks the most impressive comeback ever made in the music world, a band ...

Advantages: Some Exceptional Songs Disadvantages: Some Weak Songs
Aerosmith are one of the best rock bands of all time. With a career spanning over 20 years, this album represents songs from three albums of their work, as well as the odd single, those albums being Permanent Vacation, Pump and Get A Grip.
Here's a rundown of the tracks:
1. Walk On Water
This song was released in 1994, and wasn't on any of their albums. The song has good rhythm and great lead throughout. Lyrics are inspiring in places and weak ... ...In An Elevator
This song is one of Aerosmith's most recognisable songs. It was a 1989 release from their massive selling album 'Pump'. Has a great opening riff, leading into some good rhythm throughout. Lyrics are sublime and interesting. A classic Aerosmith song.
3. Rag Doll
Taken from the album 'Permanent Vacation' in 1987. An interesting song with slurred rhythm and lead. Equally slurred lyrics make this song an acquired listen.
4. What It ...

Title: Big Ones
Released: November, 1994
Label: Geffen Records Album Type: Compilation Album Produced by: Bruce Fairbairn, Michael Beinhorn
The tracks on this album span from the late 80's and the early 90's era of Aerosmith's career. As usual, I am marking songs to how they sound as they are, not to if they live up to Aerosmith songs from the start of their career.
Now, to begin with, this album has many tracks on it, which are on the "Young ... ...as I collect the albums anyway, however if you buy them for the different songs, you may not want to buy this if you already have the Young Lust anthology. However, there are two tracks that are not actually on the Young Lust album. These two tracks being: Amazing and Livin' On The Edge. I say not actually on the Young Lust album as these tracks on this album are the originals and not acoustic/ orchestral versions. Inside this nicely packaged album ...

...lead guitarist Joe Perry. The Big Ones compilation was issued in 1994 and features their strongest material up to that point. One surprising omission I feel is that ‘Walk This Way’ the co-operative track with Run DMC is not included. Although perhaps it was predominantly a Run DMC track it was carried by the Aerosmith contribution. It could be argued it probably also partly re-launched Aerosmith at a comparatively barren part of their ... ...album just for the truly big ones – ‘Crazy’, the risque ‘Love In An Elevator’ and ‘Dude (looks like a lady)’ are worth the album cost alone. I can’t help but feel though the CD might be forwarded to about 5 tracks on this album at the expense of some of the others.

Advantages: 15 great songs, 16 if you include Dude ... twice. Disadvantages: None I can think of
Released in 1994 Big Ones is a compilation of the best songs from Permanent Vacation, Pump and Get A Grip along with a song from The Beavis And Butthead Experience and two new recordings.
For those unaware Aerosmith are an American rock band that have been together for over 30 years (if you forget about a five year absence of two members in the early 80's). Perhaps that's an understatement, they are THE American rock band. The band comprises of ... ...Brad Whitfield (Guitar), Tom Hamilton (Bass) and Joey Kramer (Drums). From their drug infested beginnings in the seventies to their "clean" revival in the eighties they have been at the forefront of rock music for 3 decades. This album encapsulates some of their best work from the late 80's and early 90's. During this time their work was more commercially pleasing than their 70's albums and personally I think it is also better.
The two new songs ...

...was right, £16 for Aerosmith’s Big Ones. The thing is, though; I would probably have paid twice or even thrice that if there were no other way to get hold of this compilation album. Yes, this is a collection of Aerosmith’s best hits - at the time of this release, that is - and so some people whine about the originality of the lyrics and yet another moneymaking scheme. I don’t think that that gripe is entirely justified in this case though. The fact ... ...order of favourites I’d have to put “Pink” and so it’s slightly disappointing that that’s missing from the line up. However, “Pink” wasn’t a success for Aerosmith until after Big Ones was released and so it’s a little unfair of me to take them to task for that oversight! ...

If you really like Aerosmith but can't afford to buy all the albums, then this is the one for you. Released in 1994, it features pretty much all of the songs that they should be rememebred for - like Love in an Elevator, Janie's Got a Gun, Cryin etc.

Aerosmith have been around for twenty years or more and it is difficult to advise people new to Aerosmith which album to listen too. I take the easy way out and suggest 'Big Ones' which is a compilation of many of their greatest hits of the first fifteen years.

Love in an Elevator
I was recently asked by my 8 year old daughter what this song was about. I lied, I told her that it was about how you form friendship in offices with elevators! This song is very raunchy and has a lot of energy. The lyrics are not offensive but really make you know what the subject matter is all about. Aerosmith Big Ones is not just an album, it's a classic. Released in 1994 it contains some of their more well known tracks from the late 80's to the early 90's.
