...lyrics at times. Welcome to the black parade - Piano ballard, but turns into a guitar solo and fast drum beats. I don't love you - Very sad song, 'slow dance' sort of feel. House of wolves - The most original song in the album, some of the band's parents do backup vocals. Syntesizer + Piano Cancer - Sombre, dark song about cancer. Advantages: a good-quality, catchy album
Disadvantages: too over-produced

...in vocals or melody. The Black Parade, however, is very obviously professionally produced. This, for some, is an advantage. The tracks are flawless, the sound perfect. For me, however, this detracted from the meaning of the music. Gerard's voice lacks the 'oomph' he had in previous albums. The Black Parade is an alternate persona for the band. ...the song. Welcome To The Black Parade is definitely the leading song though. I mean, just WHERE on Earth M.C.R get it from I don't know. The lyrics are brilliant, the tune is catchy, and it all fits together. I had heard this song before I bought the album. ...radio to 'Welcome to the Black Parade' I did something totally out of character and immediately went out and bought the album 'The Black Parade' for £8.99 from HMV. My Chemical Romance are Frank Iero and Ray Toro on guitar, Mikey Way on bass guitar, Bob Bryar on drums with Gerard Way on vocals combining black lyrics to create an album that plays more as a story in a cross between grunge, indie and rock with heavy emphasis on guitars and drums. Disadvantages: some people could find the death/illness theme a little overwhelming.

Before hearing "The Black Parade", I wouldn't particularly class myself as a MCR fan. To be honest, they just sunk into the background for me with all the other "emo" bands that were around at the time. However, I was directed to "The Black Parade" by my best mate who, like me, had no particular interest in that kind of music. The third album from lovable MCR, something about them you just cant help but love... and im 35! (poor boys)! Having my background in slightly more alternative bands MCR are a bit of a departure to softness for me, but one of which I am not ashamed! Their music is brilliantly thought out and put together in a way that is impossible not to listen and enjoy. A calmer album to 'Three Cheers For Revenge' yet still entails a wonderful musical journey. The band have definately created the best 'alter ego' album out there.

Advantages: Appeals to everyone, great lyrics with meaningful tracks.
Disadvantages: None!

Advantages: EMO rock at it's best, top lyrics and vocals, very imaginative concept
Disadvantages: Couple of weak tracks

...the track "Welcome to the Black Parade". The vocals on it from Gerard are amazing and really emotive. It tells the story of the patient who, when he comes to die, relives the best experience of his life which is a parade his father took him to as a kid. My Chemical Romance act as their alter egos, The Black Parade and lead him to death. I know it sounds a bit grim but it really is very well written and played.
