Craig David shot to fame in 2000, after releasing “Fill Me In”, “Seven Days” and “Re-Rewind”. His fresh faced look appealed to teenagers and young adults alike, as well as for old wrinklies like myself. At the age of 19, Craig seemed to almost have it all – looks, talent, a huge following, but NO girlfriend.
“Fill Me In” set the trend in April 2000, and following the No. 1 chart success of the single and the video, Craig had a lot of hype to live ... ...which again shot to the top of the charts. At the same time, Craig released “Born to Do It”, his first album, which topped the charts in the UK and stopped at No. 11 in The US.
The album received rave reviews, and Craig was hailed “the new face of R&B”.
So, what was all the fuss about? I bought “Born to Do It” about three months after it was first released, and have to say it takes pride of place in my CD collection. We are on our second copy, ...

Advantages: Several very well-known hits. Tunes rather than beats. David's pleasing vocals are easy on the ear, as are the songs. Generally hard to dislike. Disadvantages: Too samey at times. Cliched lyrics. Some more uptempo tracks would have been welcome.
...above the merely inoffensive.
Born To Do It wisely kicks off with something familiar, the "20-words-a-line" lyric of the No.1 Fill Me In, a charming tale of young lovers being interrogated by concerned parents. Simultaneously slinky and almost innocently sweet, it's one of the album's highlights...although rather too many of the other 11 songs reprise the style of this opener.
The uptempo moments are few and far between, which is slightly disappointing ... ...to be seen. The track sequencing is clever - some distinctly average fare bookended by the big hit singles, and the running time of around 50 minutes is just right. Much more and Born To Do It's charms might not have endured quite so effectively.
"Cool, wicked, done", indeed. ...

Advantages: Every song has potential to be a single Disadvantages: only 12 tracks.
Since I am pretty much obsessed with Craig David I had to update this awful, awful opinion! Craig David, every teen girls dream, including mine. Which meant it was only natural to purchase his debut album 'Born To Do It', and boy was I glad I did. I pre ordered it cause I knew I had to hear it straight away. As soon as I put it on I knew this was going to be one of my favourite albums EVER. The first song on the album was his first single and number ... ...start to the album. The last song was his first single with the Artful Dodger - Rewind. I felt this was a perfect start and finish to the album. The album had slow songs such as Rendezvous and you know what and had fast songs like time to party and fill me in. this album basically has songs to suit any mood. For me this album was brilliant because I enjoyed every single song, and that rarely happens and has only ever happened with two other albums ...

Advantages: Lots of bangers Disadvantages: Nothing specific
The Southampton R&B singer Craig David debuted with his album “Born To Do It” in 2000, shortly after his time spent collaborating with the 2-Step Garage group Artful Dodger, and so although this has him doing contemporary R&B work, it also features him on up-tempo beats which fit in with the urban raving movement of Garage at this time (the peak of its success). 1. “Fill Me In” The album fittingly begins with what was his debut solo single, and since ... ...bonus at the end of the album, he has things begin in a similar sort of fashion with a 2-Step song on top of beats from Artful Dodger as he sings about how he and his girl get up to the nasty as his partner’s parents go out. **Five Stars** 2. “Can’t Be Messing Around” To me, Artful Dodger’s way of constructing the beats always seems quite urgent, and it comes through in the beats which they produce for Craig’s music here, and it means that it is ...

Advantages: Great singer and some catchy tunes. Disadvantages: A couple of average tracks.
Craig David shot to fame after appearing on that infamous track Rewind by The Artful Dodger. The metioric rise of garage music pulled Craig by the scruff of his neck into the limelight. Craig David grew up in Southampton where his love of music was cultivated through his DJing, MCing and song-writing, and boy does he have talent.
Unlike Hear'Say he was never manufactured, and unlike Mariah Carey, he hasn't got a new multi-million pound contract ... ...To Craig David it is the music that matters therefore "Born To Do It" should be a classic album, or is it.
The album begins with his first solo track "Fill Me in". This is an upbeat, not quite garage track. Craig delivers some of his trademark fast delivery vocals over a great tune and a catchy hook.
The next track "Can't Be Messing 'Round" is another quite upbeat track with some fast vocals. The chorus however sounds a bit stupid, especially with ...

Advantages: Good Beats and Great voice! Disadvantages: Not enough songs
Craig David well what can you say about him? Theres a lot to think about him i was amazed when i first seen him come out. Hes got the looks and the voice, what a talant he has been given. Class is the word that would totally describe him. If some people didnt like him then i really wouldnt see why i mean his voice is just totally brilliant and you can understand every word that he is saying even though he can sing kind of fast. I am the kind of person ... ...as i care much more about the voice of the person. Any ways this is one of my favourite albums i listen to it quite a lot lol and i never get sick of it. As am obsessed with music its what i do really but with some albums you couldnt listen to it again and again but with this one its very possible to do this. His first single "fill me in" is now a classic and it really brung him on to our scenes as some body that you could just tell was going to ...

Advantages: relaxing, consistently high standard, great voice Disadvantages: some annoying lyrics, says his name a lot in his songs
...better tracks on his album Born To Do it. Another excellent song is his recent hit, Walking Away, which is another favourite, although I liked this one almost straight away.
The problem with his album is that I think it takes a while to grow to love the tracks too, so originally I was a bit disappointed with my purchase. I have now owned it for maybe six weeks or so and although it is constantly in my music system, I still don't think all the songs ... ...say it is a bad album. In fact, there is not a sub-standard track on it at all, although I do find Rewind rather irritating. It is just that the music slots pleasantly into the background. This can be an advantage in some ways - I find it nice to have on, while I am writing opinions at Ciao, for example, whereas other albums are too invasive and interrupt my concentration.
It is ideal for dozing on the settee to, or for snuggling up to a loved one. ...

Advantages: Slick and stylish story telling means good music Disadvantages: A little cheesy at times
One of the most stylish men of the year in my opinion is Craig David. Since he came on to the British music scene many people have been copying his looks, his dress sense and his attitude towards women.
He's a young sweet talker and a big UK garage music star. He released his first single early this year and since then he has gone from strength to strength.
His album was ordered by many well beofre it had been released in the UK and has proved ... ...known tracks like Seven Days, Fill Me In and Walking Away it really does cheer you up when you listen to it. The album also features a special remix of the song he did with Artful Dodger, Re-wind and previously un-released tracks.
Craig's style is unique, he songs have meanings, they are more stories than anything, he is a storyteller. So if you are good enough to hear the lyrics, they are sung pretty fast, then you get told interesting stories ...

Advantages: Its got a choice of inlay colours! Disadvantages: Boring, repetative and plain.
I brought Craig Davids new album because I was bored. I have now given the album away to a frind because it is so crap! It has 12 songs, which are all virtually the same. The only slightly decent song on there is re-wind and maybe 7 day. All the others were either too slow or didn't go anywhere, they were just really repetitive. next time I buy an album out of boredom, I won't listen to what people recommend. Also, Craig David has printed his peanut ...

I love craig david, his songs are perfect for playing in the background, setting a nice relaxed mood. For a 19 year old, this is an impressive effort and as you can tell by the success it has had on the charts, this is one crooner people are paying attention to

Advantages: Well written and worded, He has a great voice for singing, all his tunes go well with the words, no song is cheesy. Disadvantages: None
I am into music in a big way and have been ever since I was about 8 years of age.
I was thinking the other day and going through my music of over 200 cd's and tapes and there is not one band or singer in all my time where I have liked every song they have done except for the one and only 'Craig David'. Now everyone is different and everyone is into different types of music and I know some people who cannot even stand Craig David to even listen to ... ...some of the best tracks in the world on it.
What does it for me is his soft voice and the words he has chosen for each of his songs.
He has also done a good tune to go with the words.
He came into pop in around November 1999 and his first ever hit was Fill Me In and this was a smash hit for him. It also went to number one and every time I went to the students union they would play it over and over again.
You know when this happens you start to ...

I must clearly be living in a cave, becuase I would appear to be nigh on the only person in the world who sees utterly no discernible merit in Criag David's musical offerings. The music is lightweight by any standards, and a general whine. Hats off to the guys who have managed to plug Craig David, they have been slick and professional to get something this ordinary into the spotlight. The music is nondescript, feels practically looped, and with no ...

This is by far one of the best debut albums I've ever come across. I bought this album because I'd already heard the tracks 7 Days, Fill Me In, Rewind and Walking Away and loved them! It's rare to actually find an album where you actually like all of the tracks but I do like all the tracks.

There is a good variety of songs on the album - some romantic, some rapping and some funky tracks to dance to. Some of the lyrics are a bit soppy but Craig David performs in such a way so that the lyris don't make you want to cry or vomit - they make you feel nice. The singing is just brilliant and the music is composed ...
