...shows. compared to previous albums, butterfly has much more personal lyrics and has more r&b whereas all her other albums were more pop.it still has her trademark ballads such as butterfly and my all which proves she hasnt strayed from her roots, mariah has said she really enjoys singing ballads. my favourite ballad on the album is outside, which i think is about mariahs feelings as a child that she never fitted in with everyone else because she ... ...on you face the realisation you dont have a space, where you fit in, and recognise you were born to exist'' show how much more personal the lyrics are to her, and its a side of her that hadnt been shown before. 'Butterfly' is a much more mature album.
the r&b influence is shown on the song Breakdown, which is a huge favourite with fans. it features rappers bone thugz 'n' harmony, but isnt what you would think when you know they are on it, it is ...

Advantages: Every song is fantastic Disadvantages: none
Mariah is at home in the R&B department and this album is (in my opinion) her best so far. There are alot of R&B flavored tunes in here and I would say that almost all of the songs on this album are amazing and ones that you can play over and over. Some of my favourites on this album are The Roof, BabyDoll, Breakdown, Honey and Fourth of July. I think she should have included the remix of My All by Jermaine Dupri featuring Peter Gunz and Lord Tariq ...

I have been a big fan of Mariahs for many years now and after buying her latest album my respect for her has grown even more! This album has songs on it that complement her amazingly sultry voice. Rainbow sees Mariah team up with well known and well loved artists such as Usher, Snoop dog and Jay-Z. My personal faveroute on the album is track 10, Crybaby, which is excellent! People have often complained that Mariah does too many slushy slow ballads ...

Advantages: a couple of good tracks Disadvantages: not so good for the ears on the high notes
A girl with a really really high pitched voice can be quite an earache. Mariah Carey has got a squeaky voice! On the other hand she has got a really nice husky voice when she sings ballads like Thank God I’ve found you with the boy group. I got the album ‘Butterfly’ and I really hate looking at the cover… why can’t I have a body like that?? I do try…. Honest! (as I eat the rest of my chocolate bar!)
I had to laugh at the heartbreaker video where ...

...order you can point to Butterfly and say with confidence that this is where she Lost It Big Time. I thought her previous album Daydream was a slight mess, trying to cater for a few too many tastes, but Butterfly takes the proverbial biscuit. The first track, Honey (you MUST watch the video – it is unintentionally hilarious) sees Mariah trying to do hip-hop by employing a rapper who repeats words to the effect of “Mariah, On Fire” (because there aren’t ... ...On the title track Mariah is back to her schmaltzy self, screaming her guts out (and in the video she’s in bed with a horse. I kid you not), and in between is just a huge mess. She was definitely a far better artist when she was “controlled” by her husband/boss, Tommy Mottola. ...

Advantages: A great mix of tastes Disadvantages: It doesn't play forever!
This has to be one of my favourite Mariah albums. With 14 tracks it is a lengthy CD, each song unique from the last and fantastic in its own right.
It includes many of her hits, such as 'Honey', the haunting 'My All', and the beautifiul cover of 'Whenever You Call'. My absolute favourite on this album would have to be her rendition of 'The Beautiful Ones' which features Sisqo. This track is performed better than the original (which I never thought ... ...this particular track on 'repeat' several times.
The lyrics of each song are whistful and deep in meaning, as with all of Mariah's penned songs. She shows her range to its full potential and gives her all on this CD - that is evident.
Out of all of Mariah's CD's, I would recommend this most highly. It is outstanding and shows Mariah at her finest. ...

I was really disappointed by this album. This was the first album from the new, post-divorce Mariah Carey and, I have to say that if this is the ‘real Mariah’ (as she said), then he ex-husband Tommy Mottola deserves an award for making her so likeable and for making sure that her earlier music was so good. On this album, Mariah Carey tries to create an R&B sound and I personally don’t think that was a good idea as R&B doesn’t really seem to fit with ... ...good track on this album is ‘Honey’. The song ‘Honey’ is wonderful and the R&B influence does work well on this song. Unfortunately, I thought that the rest of the songs are generally very weak and unmemorable. Overall, I thought that this album was a total waste of money. ...
