Advantages: Contains some stunnning songs, great guitar riffs, thumping bass and drums combine excellently with great vocals and lyrics.
Disadvantages: There are a couple of weak songs which mean only four stars not five

...title track of the album Californication is another slow acoustic track. 'Its understood that Hollywood sells Californication'. I believe that indicates that this is another track about the big marketing of Hollywood. Easily is another rockin song. The lyrics in this track deal with the temptations of life. 'Easily, lets get carted away'. I don’t even want to think about what Porcelain is about. This is the softest song I have ever heard ... Read review

Disadvantages: Too much place names and stuff, plus often very similar songs

Disadvantages: the album could lose a couple of tracks to make it better

After hearing Scar Tissue and Californication when round a mate’s house on MTV, it seemed impossible not to buy this album, especially after hearing that it had gone platinum over forty times world-wide. Disadvantages: The chili peppers are getting old and might not be around much longer

Before I tell you about californication heres how they were before it. They started out in Fairfax High school, Anthony became friends with Flea(Michael Balzary) and they wrote some songs together before Hillel Slovak and Jack Irons joined the band. Like many people my age I bought Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic and listened to it endlessly during my adolescence. However, after that I pretty much stopped listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers until I heard this album. This album reunites producer Rick Rubin and the original replacement guitarist John Frusciante who both also worked on the aforementioned Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic. Advantages: Some great songs
Disadvantages: A few shouty songs :(

The departure of Dave Navarro and the return of John Frusciante signals a return to the more funky side of the Chili’s. No doubt everyone who disliked their previous album, One Hot Minute, will be glad of this but personally I liked the change in style that was present on it. ...lyrics and great song. 6. Californication This is my favourite track from this album. It is actually the first song I heard from RHCP and it is the reason why I like this band and the reason why I got this album. Anthony Kiedis sings amazingly. The lyrics are awesome. Disadvantages: last few are a bit dissapointing.

...These four songs (with Californication being my personal favourite) would be enough on their own, but instead the album includes 15 tracks, all of a very standard (well, most of ‘em anyway). Included in those four songs is ‘Get on Top’. This is a real gritty, dirty song, which took a while to grow on me, but has finally found a place in my collection of quality tunes. Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers is their best album and one of my favourite albums.The first track is good but there are better tracks.The only track that I don't like is track 8:Porcelain. The best tracks on it have to be 3:Scar Tissue, 4: O Otherside, 6:Californication, 7:Easily, 11:This velvet glove and Road Tripping (15).I'm not saying that the other songs are bad but this songs are the best.I didn't think that I would like this ... I had never really heard of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers until my brother bought their album when we were on holiday in Mallorca. As soon as we got back into england he put it onto the CD player and i was in love.
