I bought Californication on the recommendation of a friend, having only heard ScarTissue. What a friend. This is my favourite album I own, purely because it is sheer class. With only two weak tracks ( Get On Top being one of them), Californication gets me every time. Opening with the jumpy Around the World, the album promises to deliver - and by 'eck it does. Red Hot ChiliPeppers are a funk rock band. Their album “Californication”has wicked sound. It was released on the Warner bros record label. Californication is the latest in a very long string of hit albums by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The album however brings a welcome change to the old college band music. The album shows a more mature approach to alternative music and I definitely prefer this to the old stuff. Songs like Scar Tissue and Otherside stand out as the best songs but it is very hard to pick out favourites in such a good album. Towards the end however, the band revert back ... Read review

This by far is my favourite CD of the Red Hot Chilis because I liked the lyrics, the guitar tab, and the music it self. I liked all of the songs and I also enjoy playing them on the guitar becuse they are so much fun to play. I recommend this CD over all of the other RHCP CD's. The Red Hot Chilly Peppers have been around for some time now, but as far as i can see, they are still going strong. Their newest album "californication" is an obvious example of this. This if a very mellow and relaxed album, featuring some amazing tracks, i.e. scar tissue and californication. I hadn't really heard any music from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, apart from Californication, so i took a dive at the deep end and went and bought the album not knowing what to expect. I was really impressed with their music and discovered a great song called Scar Tissue which is great to listen to! I found that this cd was really good as an RHCP album, but where was the growth? The new progressions? Lyrics? It seemed to be like their old albums without anything new to it. The vocals on emmett remus was amazing, and the ballad porcelin (sp?) was breathtaking. But take more risks boys! And find your shirts. OK, I'll admit it- I am a pretty new fan of the RHCP; before recently, I oly knew a few of their songs. But I think this album will definitely convert a whole bunch of new fans like me. Antony Kiedis has a very distinctive voice, but there's still great variety on this album. I don't understand how this has so many good reviews,this WOULD be a good album were it not for the constant and rather rather obvious distortion that can be herd quite easily throughout the album, this is not the sort of distortion like you get in electric guitars quite often, that sort of distortion is done deliberately for effect, the distortion that can be herd on this album is down to poor mastering, because somone thought they would make it ... Red hot chili peppers, Californication is one of the best albums I have ever heard, its just as good as blood sugar sex magic if not even better. Its superbly put together and has got so many exellent songs on it. These songs arnt all "punky" either theres a mix of slow acoustic style of music i.e scar tissue and then theres your clasic r.h.c.p songs such as Californication and All around the world!
