Advantages: A beautiful collection of songs Disadvantages: One of two lower quality tracks
Charlotte Church has clocked up an excessive amount of media coverage over the last year. Sadly, none of this coverage has been about her latest album release, or a new music project she is embarking upon. It has all been about a relationship she has formed with a local Cardiff lad, who depending on the day of the week is a DJ/producer/general layabout. Why the media are so focused on rubbishing her is beyond me, and I said in my recent Daniel Bedingfield ... ...the end of the day, Charlotte Church has an undoubted talent, but so do many other young singers. 'Prelude' is an 18 track greatest hits collection, featuring high points from her first four album releases, with the added bonus of some previously unreleased tracks, it was one that I was sure would be far too bland and uninteresting to hold my attention for more than a millisecond. You see, I like music to make the blood pump through my veins and ...

Advantages: Her voice is sublime, and improving all the time Disadvantages: Album full of Christmas songs does not encourage replaying
Charlotte Church, the fourteen year old Welsh soprano with, apparently, the "voice of an angel" has released this album (as she did her previous two albums) to coincide nicely with the Christmas rush. Therefore I'm sure lots of people, like me, will have found them playing the CD over the days following Christmas.
Unfortunately for those who find this stretching their Christmas stocking, the CD is full of Christmas songs and carols. Now, I might ... ...we really want to hear Charlotte Church sing an opera-version of Winter Wonderland, or Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire? I don't think so, but you get them on the CD, and they sound hopelessly out of place, as does the adaptation What Child is This? sung to the Greensleeves theme.
However, the original song which starts off the CD, Dream a Dream, with Billy Gilman is a great attempt at utilising Charlotte's voice in a more pop-orientated song, ...

Advantages: She has good potential Disadvantages: She should not be singing such a high reportoire at her age
Charlotte Church is a 15 year old, Welsh soprano singer. She was born in Llandaff, Cardiff and is well known by quite a few people as a "very talented" young singer. This is not however, everyone's opinion (or mine for that matter!) Personally I think that growing up in a very musical family has helped me to be able to tell when something is good (i.e Nigel Kennedy) and when something is not so good (i.e Charlotte Church). Lots of people seem to ... ...has been. ABOUT CHARLOTTE CHURCH: When Charlotte was 3 & a half years old she sang "Ghostbusters" with her cousin in Caernarfon. When they had finished singing, her cousin had left the stage but Charlotte refused to leave and as a result had to be dragged off the stage!! At the age of 8, Charlotte was making a name for herself at local karaoke competitions. She saw the Richard & Judy television show one day and the producers were looking for young ...

Advantages: She has a beautiful voice, and there are some excellent covers on there. Disadvantages: Not my kind of thing really. She is kind of stuck between pop and classical church and opera music. I think.
Charlotte certainly has teh most wonderfull ytrained and beautiful age of 14. 'Guide Me Oh Thou Great Redeemer' features and I do not particularly like her version of this. All of them have a drum backgroun.d I was expecting traditional organ or piano with percussion, but instead full drums. Not loudly but you get the idea right?! Well, for the reason that the album is not what I expect it, when I recieved it on the year of 1999 at christmas, I was ... ...two years. So my advice is to stay away from it. Though I have heard that in particular 'Voice Of An Angel' is good, so I will attempt to hire it at some point of my life. If you like opera and church music with a slightly modern twist, you will love this album. But I personally do not find this kind of music worth lsitening to. Yet, still my admiration for Charlotte's voice and her success at her age remains. Her voice is phenomenal and I will look ...
