Advantages: Techincally proficient and original. Disadvantages: No real edge to the songs.
I rushed out to buy this after being so impressed with their return to form on their previous album, God Hates Us All.
Unfortunately, I have to say it seems that Slayer seem to have got into a routine of doing an aggressive album (which is what I consider to BE Slayer), then following it with an album of less aggression and more technical wizardry like they did when going from Reign in Blood to South Of Heaven.
If you are like me and prefer the ... ...be disappointed with this one, although like other offerings from Slayer that haven't hit the mark, this one has some good points. Jihad is a truly original offering along with Eyes Of The Insane.
As always, the lyrics are thought-provoking and contraversial, focussing on topics that others dare not consider.
My fiance actually summed all of this up when she heard Eyes Of The Insane when she said "This is no good, I can understand what he is singing!"
