Disadvantages: A little doomy

...grim magic, but I found Closer an over stylised piece of work after the shocking rush that was the debut album. It was great stuff, and easily one of the albums of that summer, but it smacked just a little too much of the band living out their gloomy, introspective image for my liking. Disadvantages: Complete cack apart from The Eternal

I bought this album out of boredom because my friends were obsessed with Pokemon and I had lost the will to live (I'm 13). Although it was an impulse buy, I did have some reason for buying this. I 'was' a Melody Maker reader and after hearing the hype and prose lavished apon Ian Curtis, I decided to check it out. When I played the CD, I was disgusted buy the pompousity of the album.
