Advantages: 18 great songs Disadvantages: 1 bad song, not enough upbeat tracks
...that's what they promised in Coast to Coast. Did we get it? Not really.
Don't get me wrong - 'Coast to Coast' is a very good album. But of the 19 tracks (18 are listed, but there's a secret one too) on it only about 3 or 4 are upbeat. The rest are their trademark ballads. For those of you who don't know much about Westlife, I'll introduce them to you.
The five band members are Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, Kian Egan (all from Sligo), Bryan McFadden ... ...and 23. Westlife are not as manufactured as some believe. They began many years ago, when Shane, Mark and Kian got a group together with three other friends. They were then known as IOU, and had bad haircuts (no offence). Then, about three or four years ago, they were signed by Louis Walsh (manager of Boyzone and Samantha Mumba) but the other three members were thrown out and replaced with Nicky and Bryan.

...Sister (jenny_carr) has Westlife - Coast to Coast as she is a major fan of westlife. She's had the album for a while now and she regulary plays it really loud!
I'm not a westlife fan myself but I often find myself humming some of their songs from the album. I have to say that Westlife's album is a great "slow song" album and can be quite romantic. The words are special if you know what I mean.
On the album there is:
My Love ~
The first snog to ... ...slot! This song is about a man saying how he wants to see his love again and how when he doesn't see her he has a hole in his heart etc. A top song! These a few reviews on some songs:
What makes a man ~ The second song to be released from the alub and like "my love" it reached the number 1 slot as well. The song is asking a women what makes a man? They are splitting up and he says how he isnt going to let her go so he wants to know what she thinks ...

Advantages: Overall a really good album Disadvantages: A bit repetitive and not to suit all tastes
...for you! This Coast to Coast album was released on the 6th November 2000. It was their second album and reached number 1 in the UK charts. There are 18 tracks on this album and it has a total playing time of 1hr 11mins 14secs.

Advantages: plenty of power ballads to choose from! Disadvantages: hardly any upbeat tracks, some can sound the same
...albums out since this one, Coast To Coast is still my favourite.
Westlife consists of Kian Egan, Shane Filan, Mark Feehily (from Sligo, Ireland) and Nicky Byrne from Dublin. Bryan McFadden was involved in this album, but he has since left the band. They've been around for 7-8 years which I personally think is outstanding for a boyband, as most barely get to the 4 year mark. They've had so many number ones in the UK I've lost count and they've performed ... ...www.westlife.com. Coast To Coast will be available quite cheaply now since it's been out for a couple of years, have a look in HMV or Music Zone. It should be there for under £10.
Overall a great album for any fan of Westlife, or anyone who's a ballad lover! ...

I have been a huge fan of Westlife since they were supporting Boyzone on tour, and listened to their last album non-stop (really!!). It was a great relief to my parents when this superb album came out as it was something different for me to listen to! The album is definately different from "Westlife", but that isn't a bad think, as they are getting into a different, nore up-beat sound which will please some people who believe they can only sing ballads.
... ...Looking Like That", this song is more upbeat and i wasn't sure of it at first but i love it, and if they are planning to release an up-tempo song around January (like they said) then this should be the song. Out of their usual ballady type songs number 18 is definately the best "Every little thing you do". Also although you may think that by having 18 songs on the album they are showing that they know how to give the fans value for money, they have ...

...thrilled when I found out Coast to Coast was out!! Coast to Coast is Westlife’s newest and second album, and it’s fantastic! With eighteen songs on it anyone who liked their first album will love this. There are three of their past seven singles on it - My Love, Against All Odds (feat. Mariah Carey) and I Have A Dream - and their forthcoming one What Makes A Man, which are all brilliant. But my favourites are the lovely Puzzle of My Heart and Angel’s ... ...was on the last, including the almost Latino-sounding Soledad. The only things that disappointed me are the song Dreams Come True, which is very un-Westlifey, and the fact that Bryan, Mark and Shane sing lead almost all the time. They are fantastic singers, but so are Nicky and Kian, and I think they should get a go more often! I think the only song they sing lead on is You Make Me Feel, but I’m not entirely sure. ...some remote island off the coast of nowhere - are five Irish lads - Mark, Shane, Kian, Nicky and Brian. They have had their first seven singles go straight into the charts at number one. Their eighth number one attempt was cruelly thwarted by that musical talent that is - Bob the Builder. Oh well, that's pop !
This album contains one of my favourite songs of the year - My Love, which I believe is a real quality song, almost a modern anthem - but ... ...I'm disillusioned, because I fancy Kian ! Huh.
It is very good value having a whopping great nineteen tracks on it (including a hidden one at the end), including their singles My Love, Against All Odds (the beautiful Phil Collins song sung with the appallingly vain Mariah Carey), I Have A Dream and their latest - What Makes A Man. After the first five tracks, I was thinking what an excellent album it was, then slushy love song followed slushy love ...

If you are a music fan and appreciate music, then like me you must be a bit upset that all the music being produced is so weak and so manufactured. I was listening to ‘Help’ by the Beatles and compare it to any of Westlife ’s song none come near it. The Beatles didn’t have expensive videos, in fact the song made the video, just excellent lyrics that will last.
However, it’s sad state of affairs that Westlife can even be compared to the Beatles, ... ...ones, Westlife themselves were a bit embarrassed. It wasn’t a category they were going to ever fit in. They were never going to stay on the shelf, they will never be remembered. Ok, some of the little girls might like them, but real ‘music’ fans I don’t think so. Some of the Westlife songs have been good but nothing special and the music in the past was special, sublime and ever enduring. I think if the music industries don’t start producing ...

So people on this page have given Westlife 5 starts out of five have they? Good for you. as you better enjoy them while they last - I can guarantee that in 5 years or so this group will be another in a long line of sad artists who are only looked back on to ridicule - remember the Bay City Rollers - laughed at now - well step forward Westlife to take their crown - I personally find it disgusting that a group who don't put any input into their music ... ...performance can at the moment be the most successful act in the UK - Swear It Agin perhaps was a cut above the rest of most boy band stuff but it still sucked big time - since then they churn out a new single every 2 months {sometimes less} which never change their style - pathetic love songs to keep hormonal under 10s happy. This is the group who are so desperate for an Xmas number one that they are releasing their triple A-sided single on the 18th ...

...proud owner of their album Coast to Coast itself I have the next best thing, my sister kindly taped it for me last week.
Although I think they're a talented group of good looking lads I'm not your average girly fan (sadly outgrown that stage) though I would do anything for a moment on cloud 9 with their original creator the dearest Ronan Keating... come on girls I mean how gorgeous is he? now there's one young fellow that I could be convinced to ... ...another opinion. My opinion is purely based on the fact that their music is very tasteful and catching.
Getting back on track I can honestly say that I haven't found one track that I dislike from Westlife. This has been the only music type I have chosen to play since receiving it, not because I'm too lazy to press the eject button but the album is made up of different styles and tempo's that are suitable for all moods throughout the day whether ...

The album Coast to Coast is truly amazing!Westlife have come up trumps with this offering of musical wizardrey. Such tracks as "What makes a man" & "Against all Odds" are brilliant and some of the best I have heard in a long time. The album is made up of extremley addictive tunes and heart wrenching lyrics which really make you want to hold your loved one. I have listened to this album over and over again and I never get tired of it, infact, it seems ... ...album to those who are already fans of Westlife but also to those who have never heard of them as this is a type of music nearly everyone will enjoy, and continue to enjoy for a long time to come! A terrific second album from Westlife - I'm not surprised that it shot straight to No. 1. This album shows that they've moved past the Ronan Keating influence to be even better than Boyzone at their best. I know that this group is from the same country as Boyzone but the more I hear there song the more they sound like boyzone.
The reason that Westlife have enjoyed the success over the recent years is because the songs they have brought out have been of quite good quality, however the songs which are new on the album are unoriginal and nothing that we havent heard before from this boyband. I'm going to be mobbed! I don't like Westlife, and I don't like their album! No doubt, I shall regret that with a huge influx of unhelpful ratings, but I just cannot compare the achievements of Westlife, with the achievements of the Beatles (again, not a band I particularly like, but do admire for their musical talent) whose record of seven number 1 hits in 20 months has been recently broken by Westlife.
Until Westlife start writing all their own ... ...I'm afraid I cannot accept that this band compares to the likes of Enya, The Beatles, Kate Bush and so forth. Now I've that out of the way, I must admit the album offers good value for those pre-adolescent girls who spend their pocket money fervently on them.
