    Advantages Advantages Struggling here....!

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bad example of British comedy in every way

Ah the good old British comedy strikes again, ploughing the same furrow as pretty much every other one that had come since the mega success of Four Weddings and a Funeral (Sean of the Dead apart). For some reason British comedy desperately trying to duplicate Richard Curtis’ successful formula and, by and large, failing miserably to raise even half as many laughs. Confetti is a glossy magazine aimed at celebrating, informing and helping people plan their marriages. Antoni Clark (Jimmy Carr), the owner publisher, has come up with the idea of running a competition in the magazine and wants to ... more

Advantages Advantages The best of British comedy talent.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Virtually unscripted.

++ CONFETTI ++ Released in 2006 and starring a host of talented comedy actors including: Robert Webb (Peep Show), Olivia Coleman, (Green Wing), Martin Freeman (The Office), Stephen Mangan (Green Wing), Jessica Stevenson (Spaced)). Directed by: Debbie Isset. Genre: Comedy/Romance. BBFC Rating: 15. Running Time: 100 minutes. 'Confetti' is a magazine, pretty much like OK but along the bridal lines. The magazine wants an original concept this year, rather than the normal, bland white wedding competitions that they have usually held in the past. So they decide to hold auditions and they will give ... more

    Advantages Advantages Funny, British

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too Long, Not Funny Enough

I love British comedies and I also love weddings so when the film confetti came out and it was British and about people trying to come up with the most original wedding, the film sounded right up my street. We rented it and although I found the film quite entertaining I didn't think it was as good as it could have been or as good as I expected hence the three stars. My sister and fiancé did not think much of it at all but here is why I will recommend it to you all at a push. ----- The Film: A TV station decides to run a documentary involving three couples to see who can come up with the most ... more

Advantages Advantages A Nice Cast, and a good premise

Disadvantages Disadvantages Didn't live up to what it could have been, needs to be scripted!

Confetti When I first saw trailers for this months ago (April I think) I thought it looked like there was quite a bit of potential there and was going to see it at the cinema when it came out. It then turned out that I was out of the country when it was released, and I only just got around to watching it this weekend. It didn't live up to what I had hoped :-( The Plot 'Confetti' is a bride's magazine, and rather than giving the 'Bride of the Year' to yet another girl in a white dress, this year they are looking for the 'Most Original Wedding of the Year'. Auditions are held (in a very X-Factor ... more

    Advantages Advantages Might have worked

Disadvantages Disadvantages Script, characters, pretty much everything

When Wedding magazine Confetti launch a competition for the most original Wedding a documentary crew follows the three finalists in this documentary. The three finalists include a naturists Wedding, a Tennis theme and a Wedding based on a musical. The three concepts catch the attention of the head of the magazine and he piles his support to one particular concept. The rest of the film follows these ideas from their conception to their execution in front of a judging panel in a hotel conference suite, the prize a dream home and an appearance on the cover of the magazine. Perhaps the first thing ... more

Antoni (Jimmy Carr) is the owner of Confetti Magazine, which describes itself as a Bride's best friend. This year Antoni doesn't want to do the usual thing of selecting a bride of the year and then paying for the honeymoon, he wants to do something different, so he and the Editor, Vivienne (Felicity Montagu) come up with the idea of having a competition for most original wedding of the year. The prize will be a half a million pound dream house. After interviewing lots of couples they decide on the best of a bad bunch. These are Matt and Sam, (Martin Freeman and Jessica Stevenson). A couple who ... more

Advantages Advantages Great improvised film! British Comedy!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None!

Confetti, 2006, Rating 15, Running time 100 Min I love this film! It is brilliant! The concept was given to the actors and they just improvised the whole thing, no scripts just completely off the cuff and it works to well. I also love the fact that it is a British film with British actors showing exactly how talented they really are. The concept and direction for this film came from Debbie Isitt who has also written and directed Nasty Neighbours 2000. The Story Confetti magazine have teamed up with a TV station to look for a new feature, they decide to interview couples to try and find the ... more

Advantages Advantages It brings improvisation to the public's attention

    Disadvantages Disadvantages It's failed experiment

"Confetti" wedding magazine launches competition to find the country's most original ceremony. Hundreds of hopefuls apply but only three can get through to the final. They are the tennis couple, the naturist couple and movie musical couple. They go head-to-head for the chance to win a dream home and a cover shoot for the magazine and some of them are prepared to go to any lengths… Normally I love improvisation, I think it is the greatest test of an actor's skills and imagination, but "Nasty Neighbours" writer/director Debbie Isitt's film feels like it's trying too hard. The mockumentary is a ... more

    Advantages Advantages Hilarious

Disadvantages Disadvantages Basic and will not appeal to non-Brits

What do you get when you cross a horde of British TV comedy stars with a ridiculous plot about marriage? The answer? A surprisingly funny yet absolutely ludicrous film that somehow manages to make me want to watch it again, although I am at a loss at to why!!!! The Plot Confetti (2006) is an offering in the series of Brit Flicks such as Ruchard Curtis' Notting Hill where us Brits make a mockery out of, well ... us Brits! Confetti magazine have decided to hold a competition for the most original wedding of the year, and the winners get to have their wedding paid for. There you go. That's the ... more

Ah, the wonder of Wednesday nights, its midweek, only two days left 'til the weekend, and if you're on Orange, you can go to the cinema for half price. And so, this Wednesday that's exactly what I did. I met my buddy S at Leicester Square again and ran to Pret, snuck out sarnies into the cinema in our bags and sat down to watch the latest Brit-flick, Confetti. ***Plot*** The film is about Confetti, a top bridal magazine who are holding a competition. The prize: a brand new home (yet to be built, but the artist's impression is all there), and the task: to have the most original wedding. Antoni ... more
