The Crossing originally contained ten tracks, but when the album was remastered in 1996, it was released with an extra four tracks which had previously appeared on b-sides and bonus tracks from 12" singles - remember those? In a Big Country

"The debut album from Big Country was released in 1983. It was a bolt out of the blue (or red or green) actually the sleeve and CD came in a variety of colours red blue and green, nicely embossed with the gold logo. I always had the red cover, and still do on vinyl. The album is a winner in every way. Ten tracks with a charm and style all unique. "In A Big Country" the first track starts with a bang with lots of tumbling drum rolls and anthemic vocals, ..." Read review

AdvantagesUniquely honest and free of the manafactured, contrived nonsense that goes with pop music.


"I remember back in the 80's I was working with a chap who played guitar, he was literally music mad, he had a vast record collection and many an occasion I went to his house and we drank home brew beer, listened to his music collection. On one such occasion he pulled this LP out 'The Crossing' and asked me if I'd heard anything by them, I said I hadn't and I remember him saying ' Trust me, if you don't have this album, then you really don't have a ..."
