'Dark Side of the Moon' is often given as one of the all-time classic records. Before I heard it, I was aware of this reputation even though the album is not of my generation. It is fantastic - maybe not quite as good as people like to make out, but then that shouldn't be held against it. ...you will not regret it. Dark Side of the Moon has a deep hook, a really powerful sequence of peices which are both accessible and complex at the same time. Personally, I think side two lets it down and I detest Money because it spoils the flow. Ok, that may well be deliberate, an antidote to the rest of the album. Don't get me wrong, I think Dark Side of the Moon is one of the finest albums ever made and Pink Floyd probably all of the better ones ...

As with many albums from this era the albums are short, but amazing. If only CD's were around so we could hear 80mins of the songs instead of the limiting 45. This album combines sound effects with amazing instrumentals to create an album so sublime it has managed to stay in the USA album chart top 40 for the last 30 years! With its catchy baselines and original guitaring you will be left with no other option to try out some of their other work. ...
...the songs are basically flawless in every way. I must admit this album is better than crime of the century (supertramp), but does lack the explosiveness of the music. If you love to just sit back and relax then this is the album for you, it has created a lust for music that i believe no other band or album has. A definite CD to add to the collection. There aint a band out there that can compare to Pink Floyd, This album is just the sort to send you off to imaginary places, the words are cared for and were written with meaning and are nothing to do with boys and girls and love and all that rubbish. It is very hard to express how fabulous this album is! Close to twenty years since it has been published, the music reflects a quality that is hard to match. Pink Floyd albums are usually complete projects that should be heard from start to finish, but each song makes sense on its own. First hearing on this album was at school approx 25 years ago and it soon became my "de-stress" album. Its the only album that actually takes you on a journey that can be re-lived time and time again. ...to grips with Mr Gilmours mind-blowing riffs and the rest of the effects and lyrics that really pull this album together. Original purchase of this led to buying the rest of the set, and enjoying the earlier classics like Meddle etc, and then progressing to Welcome/Animals, they all have their merits, but trust me, this is the one you will always go back to, and i still know the lyrics of Brain Damage off by heart!!! ...
