Definitely maybe heralded a new era in British music or was that an old era revisited, The mop top 1960’s haircuts and the cocaine fuelled rifts were not however just A repetition of what had gone before they were signals that a new enduring supergroup was about to emerge. In my opinion and according to a recent poll, this is the best album ever and considering it was their debut album that is some achievement! Every track on the album is great, ranging from the brilliantly rock n rolly 'Cigarettes & Alcohol' to the more subdued 'Married With Children'. This is the first album by Oasis and is undoubtedly the best! It is from the UKs number one Indie band, Oasis who have the second highest selling album in the UK ever which shows you just what this band can do. Everyone once in a while we have an album that comes out, at exactly the right time, that conveys the mood of the time and all in all is just sheer perfection. Nothing comes closer to this criteria than Definatley Maybe. This is Oasis at their desperate best. Wanting so badly to become the best in the world. This is the first, and best. It's original, it's raw, it's fantastic!! The original lineup (original from when they started recording before anyone decides to be pedantic) of Liam, Noel, Bonehead, Guigsy and Tony McCarroll rock!! This album has everything an indie/rock album needs- gee-tars, snarly vox from Liam and fantastic songs. I know a lot of people slagged off Oasis after Be Here Now, maybe they have gone downhill. Disadvantages: Anything that follows this album has a lot to live up to

Self confident, arrogant, thuggish Man City fans. Hardly likely that these lads would set the UK music scene on fire in 94/95. But that's just what they did. They've swiped T-Rex, New Seekers, The Beatles and made it into a sound all of their own in this album. You can't deny that Noel must be a great songwriter and Liam a great singer to be able to get away with such nonsense lyrics that sound spot on when listened to! Go on, listen to "Shakermaker" ... This album kicks off in sensational style with Rock'n'Roll Star in which Noel takes a pop at all the media and people who blow all things out of proportion as Liam sings "It's just Rock'n'Roll" repeatedly as the track plays to it's end. Next up possibly the best track on the album "Shakemaker" and then anotheer great track in "live forever". However after that the standard drops for the next two songs "Up in the sky" and "Columbia". Disadvantages: Only one other album they released was as good as this

'Supersonic'... 'Rock n Roll Star'... 'Shakermaker'... 'Columbia'... 'Cigarettes & Alcohol'... 'Live Forever'... All of these classic Oasis songs and more are on this one album, their debut album. Truely one of the best albums ever released ever by any indie band. Noel claims that the only reason why those tracks were put on the album was because they didn't have anything else ready. This was the debut album from the big band themselves, Oasis! And it was an absolute stunner then, and it still is now. In order to do this review I dug out the album and had a listen again, and found it was just still so great to listen to. It is very in the old style of Oasis of hard edged guitar led rock music, rather than mellow accoustic Wonderwall style, and as such makes it excellent. ...generation of music lovers and definitely maybe is their first and their best album to date. It was not a commercial success such as What’s the story morning glory but I think it has an all round better sound and capture s the overall Oasis sound perfectly. The best songs on the album are Rock’n’roll star, Live forever , Digsy’s diner and supersonic.
