Advantages: Gallaghers before the bickering....original lineup......we miss you Guigsey and Bonehead Disadvantages:
Oasis may have lost their way in recent albums, some say. Definately Maybe may well be the album that people still play on their stereo's in 30 years time. Its hard, cutting rock music, maybe nothing new in style....but in performance, this is a winner. Classic never-to-be-forgotten tracks such as "Live Forever" "Supersonic" and the classic anthem "Cigarettes and Alcohol". This is a strong album from start to finish though. Anyone who missed the Oasis ...

Was the second Oasis album that i bought, but the best. It starts off great with rock'n'roll star and has a great raw sound the whole way though. Some of Oasis' best songs are on this CD. Live forever is definitely a classic, as is Supersonic and Slide away.

Advantages: Spirit of the 90s, Live Forever (what a song), being re-released on DVD format in September Disadvantages: None
Definitely Maybe is the definitive album of the 1990s. Alone it dragged English guitar music out of the gutter, inspiring, in no small part, a generation of artists, including Cast, The Stereophonics and Coldplay. Definitely Maybe, however, is more than a stand alone musical art form. It is a cultural representation of where Britain stood in the mid 90s offering an alternative sound to the Americanised music scene which had penetrated the British ...

Advantages: Debut album - so it's really special. Every track has something special about it Disadvantages: The lyrics aren't contained in the notes
...if they aren't already there. Definitely Maybe launched Oasis into the big time and re-established British Pop. Arguments rage still over what is the best ever Oasis album. My vote goes to Definitely Maybe. It's raw, upbeat and stands for every good about Rock and Roll. It also contains alltime classics such as Live Forever, Cigarettes and Alcohol and Supersonic. Every track can be listened to over and over again. It's one of these albums you listen ...

Advantages: Great singles Disadvantages: too loud and unrefined
Definitely maybe heralded a new era in British music or was that an old era revisited,
The mop top 1960’s haircuts and the cocaine fuelled rifts were not however just
A repetition of what had gone before they were signals that a new enduring supergroup was about to emerge. Cigarettes and alcohol was the soundtrack to the summer as Liam’ s vocal were the sound that
Accompanied a million drinks. This album is a timeless classic and when placed into ...

Advantages: Classic tunes just bang out of this classic album Disadvantages: I carnt think of any.
There is no other way to describe this album other than"it is definatly maybe, the best ever rock'n'roll album made to date".Ok,so your probably thinking'what about the Beatles, what about the Stones,FORGET THEM,this is with out fail the top of the pile.
The album is so uplifting with major positive vibes and psychedelic lyrics that if you have never heard it before, you have got to be either very young or just plain sad.
Oasis were the biggest rock ...

Advantages: Best Ever Album!! Its Oasis!! Every Track Is Good! Disadvantages: Is There One?
In my opinion and according to a recent poll, this is the best album ever and considering it was their debut album that is some achievement! Every track on the album is great, ranging from the brilliantly rock n rolly 'Cigarettes & Alcohol' to the more subdued 'Married With Children'. Noel is at his creative best in this album with Liam's vocals making the songs what they are.
Oasis in this album have developed an amazing rock n roll sound that ...

Advantages: THE original and best oasis albim Disadvantages: Married with children
This is the first album by Oasis and is undoubtedly the best! It is from the UKs number one Indie band, Oasis who have the second highest selling album in the UK ever which shows you just what this band can do. This album contains 11 tracks; Rock 'n' Roll Star, Shakermaker, Live Forever, Up In The Sky, Columbia, Supersonic, Bring It On Down, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Digsy's Dinner, Slide Away and Married With Children, all excellent apart from Married ...

Advantages: Pop rock perfection. Disadvantages: You'll never buy a better album again. Sadly.
Everyone once in a while we have an album that comes out, at exactly the right time, that conveys the mood of the time and all in all is just sheer perfection. Nothing comes closer to this criteria than Definatley Maybe. This is Oasis at their desperate best. Wanting so badly to become the best in the world. To get away from the dangers and miserable existance of living in a Burnage slum and live the life. This is the album. You'll hear this optimism ...

Advantages: A classic Disadvantages: Everyone seems to hate Oasis now!!
This is the first, and best. It's original, it's raw, it's fantastic!!
The original lineup (original from when they started recording before anyone decides to be pedantic) of Liam, Noel, Bonehead, Guigsy and Tony McCarroll rock!! This album has everything an indie/rock album needs- gee-tars, snarly vox from Liam and fantastic songs. I know a lot of people slagged off Oasis after Be Here Now, maybe they have gone downhill. But this album remains ...

Advantages: Classic Oasis Disadvantages: Anything that follows this album has a lot to live up to
Self confident, arrogant, thuggish Man City fans. Hardly likely that these lads would set the UK music scene on fire in 94/95. But that's just what they did. They've swiped T-Rex, New Seekers, The Beatles and made it into a sound all of their own in this album. You can't deny that Noel must be a great songwriter and Liam a great singer to be able to get away with such nonsense lyrics that sound spot on when listened to! Go on, listen to "Shakermaker" ...

Advantages: great sounding songs Disadvantages: ......
This album kicks off in sensational style with Rock'n'Roll Star in which Noel takes a pop at all the media and people who blow all things out of proportion as Liam sings "It's just Rock'n'Roll" repeatedly as the track plays to it's end. Next up possibly the best track on the album "Shakemaker" and then anotheer great track in "live forever". However after that the standard drops for the next two songs "Up in the sky" and "Columbia". Don't worry though ...

Advantages: One of Oasis' best albums EVER! It paved the way!! Disadvantages: Only one other album they released was as good as this
'Supersonic'... 'Rock n Roll Star'... 'Shakermaker'... 'Columbia'... 'Cigarettes & Alcohol'... 'Live Forever'... All of these classic Oasis songs and more are on this one album, their debut album. Truely one of the best albums ever released ever by any indie band. Noel claims that the only reason why those tracks were put on the album was because they didn't have anything else ready. I don't care if that was the case or not, it's a brilliant album ...

Advantages: A great debut Disadvantages: Shame about their more recent stuff
This was the debut album from the big band themselves, Oasis! And it was an absolute stunner then, and it still is now. In order to do this review I dug out the album and had a listen again, and found it was just still so great to listen to.
It is very in the old style of Oasis of hard edged guitar led rock music, rather than mellow accoustic Wonderwall style, and as such makes it excellent.
My favourite song here is Cigerettes & Alcohol which ...

It was not a commercial success such as What’s the story morning glory but I think it has an all round better sound and capture s the overall Oasis sound perfectly. The best songs on the album are Rock’n’roll star, Live forever , Digsy’s diner and supersonic.
