Dig Out Your Soul is the seventh studio release from Mancunian Britrock legends Oasis. It was released in October 2008 going straight into the UK Chart Number 1 slot and its first single, 'Shock Of The Lightning' peaked at Number 3 in the UK Chart. For the few people reading this who are yet to hear of Oasis, they are a five piece indie rock group from Manchester who are quoted as inspiration for many similar bands, past and present. ...B-side the first single from Dig Out Your Soul and really starts much less abruptly than the A-side which it accompanies. The drums are quite heavy although the guitars are slightly less energetic. The lyrics are quite deep and Noel once again is singing. This song is caught halfway between a chilled tune and a pretty rocky anthem. ...I WAS WRONG!!!!! Dig Out Your Soul is the worst album they have done in my opinion.................Don't get me wrong their is some good songs on this album but they are all ruined by the fact they have overproduced the vocals to the point of stupidity. The new Oasis album Dig Out Your Soul is an album that I managed to listen to a few times way before it came out, I occasionally do this through P2P just to see whether I want to buy an album or not, although most bands offer tasters on myspace these days anyway. Dig Out Your Soul was an album that had been deemed a "succesful comeback album" by MSN. It was far from that though in my eyes, the first 3 albums are excellent but after that Oasis work ...
...Which is pretty similar to Dig Out Your Soul which seems to feature the same work as the last 3 albums, none of the tracks from these albums would have ever made it on to the first. Obviously the musicianship is up to scratch, as are the vocals but the lyrical content is boring and a band which I assumed would have broken up after a few albums or gone on to produce at least a few legendary albums, have become very very mediocre and are living off ...

On the whole, a good album that is let down by a few fillers. The album is really in two parts. Part 1 - The old style Oasis with a hint of blues with rock tunes that it'll make you walk down the street thinking you're the king of the world. And Part 2 - Perhaps on the first listen, slightly indifferent, but it does grows on you as Oasis explore the experimental more. Highlights of the first half - The first 2 tracks, pure Oasis, through and through. ...
...and makes you wonder how it only got to No.12 in the Charts. Highlights of the 2nd part - Gem's and Noel's psychedelic "To Be Where There's Life" and "Falling Down". Definitely Maybe defined a generation, we have all, including Oasis themselves been hoping the band could repeat this. However unlikely that may be. Morning Glory rode the wave of its predecessor and I am sure if released tomorrow would not be held in the same regard. ...monster anthmes like many would expect off noel gallagher and co. A pleasant surprise arises in the shape of Liam's 'I'm Outta Time' which depicts a soft and catchy ballad. 'Falling Down' is also worth a listen even though it is certainly not a typical oasis tune. In the last 14 years we have all moved on, finally, so have Oasis.
