...greenday, and I think that dookie is one of the best albums that they have released. The best price that I found to buy this CD was at virgin for only 10 pounds, and this CD has nearly all my favourite songs on, altogether there are 14 songs on the whole album, including my favourite, basket case. The other good thing about this album is that it has many songs that hasn’t been so popular. Unfortunately, the album has a sticker requiring parental ...

Advantages: Consistantly great songs Disadvantages: Not long enough !
All Green Day songs have three chords, last about three minutes and are played very fast...but that's what so good about them. They add a lot of spice to the standard pop-punk approach, with some excellent drumming from Tre and intelligent lyrics from Billie Joe. Apart from the big singles such as Basket Case, When I come Around, Welcome To Paradise and Longview, the rest of the tracks don't drop below their par, with She and F.O.D. all sounding ...

Advantages: Good to listen to.. Disadvantages: None
I am 13 year old and first heard Green Day 2 years ago, the band rock…
A little about the band…!
There are 3 members Billie Joe Armstrong (Singer) (HOTTIE)
Tre cool (Drums)
Mike Dirnt (Guitarist)
Green Day Weren't big when they first formed they were quite a quiet band until they let a single out known as American Idiot. Then they hit it off. More and more people listen to them every day. A Great Band To Mosh to.
Dookie…..
There are 14 songs ... ...amazing way to start this CD. You can tell that Billie Joe was a teenager when he wrote this song, the words make such a connection to a teenager and the name - burnout- you would think a teenager wrote the song. It's a song that would catch your attention. It's a great way to start the CD. The song is going on about how u go through life so quickly. This is sure an amazing song. As taken out of the song itself "Im Burning up and out growing bored". ...

Dookie has to be the best Green Day album. There is a mixture of styles throughout the album but still sticks with the original style. The songs are funny and all different. They are also very addictive. They'll be in your head for days. The drums on the tracks is amazing and worth listening to if just for them. The lyrics are all very original and make a lot of sense. They actually have a meaning, unlike pop music. There are a few songs that are ...

Advantages: Kicks ass Disadvantages: A little samey in parts
Green Day have become quite popular in recent years. The American grunge band have an impressive repertoire of albums, with ‘Nimrod’ being their other well known title. Luckily, this isn’t a grunge album in the purest sense of the word, in that it isn’t completely psycho, with some smooth guitar and impressive drumwork making it easy to appreciate the musical merits.
The top class tracks are the singles ‘Long View’, ‘Welcome To Paradise’, ‘Basket ... ...and ‘She’. OK, so that’s most of the album, but it is a great album, and not just when you feel like smashing something up (which is the case with most similar albums). You can enjoy this album just as well when you’re ridiculously happy, and this is certainly a good thing. The only bad thing is that some of the other album tracks sound a little similar, and the better tracks are definitely towards the front of the album – the last few tracks aren’t ...

Advantages: Catchy pop-punk Disadvantages: Slightly dodgy production
This was Green Day's second album and undoubtedly their best. It was this album that gained them mainstream recognition and led to them getting a record contract with Reprise. The album gets off to a promising start with 2000 Light Years which has gone down as a classic. The production job wasn't particularly top quality on this album but it was acceptable. Billie Joe manages to create some very strange sounds from his guitar most of which sound ... ...to Paradise which has also gone down as one of my favourites. Billie Joe never struggles to find a catchy melody and it can take a very long time to become bored of Green Day CDs. Mike Dirnt on bass does a stunning job on Welcome To Paradise which has a very tricky bass part underneath the guitar. Tré Cool (drums) as ever seems to do a very good job although sometimes his drums don't seem to match with the overall sound of the album. Some people ...

Greenday – Dookie
The first thing that attracted me to this album was the colourful cover , the album was released in 1994 by reprise records.
My favorite song on the album is basket case it’s about getting stoned and realising you have a problem and then going to visit a shrink.
To give you an idea on what the album is about please read this track list and the few lyrics I have wrote that they start with.
1. BURNOUT – I declare ... ...and growing bored.
2. HAVING A BLAST – I’m taking all you down with me, explosives duct taped to me spine.
3. CHUMP – I don’t know you but, I think I hate you, your the reason for my misery.
4. LONGVIEW – Sit around and watch the tube but, nothings on, change the channels for an hour or two.
5. WELCOME TO PARADISE - Dear mother, can you here me whining ? its been three whole weeks since I left your home.
6. PULLING ...

Advantages: Fresh sound and consistently high quality - singable too! Disadvantages: It ain't pop - don't forget that
What a cheerful album! Dookie represents a turning point for the band when they broke into the mainstream, and rightly so. Without losing the distinctive vocals from Billie Joe or the glorious guitar riffs they manage to produce an upbeat and consistently good album. Any Green Day fan should be ashamed not to own this, and it would be an ideal starting point for anyone looking to become familiar with the band. I bought this album after Nimrod, their ...

Advantages: Green Day at there finest Disadvantages: Bit short clocking in at about 35mins
...The songs on Dookie aren't cerebral but eight million Dookie buyers weren't wrong. Dookie is filled with tight, exciting adrenaline filled rock. Billie Joe's guitar playing is pretty basic but strong and the band keeps the music moving at a great, energized pace. The lyrics are juvenile but Billie Joe simply expressed his audience's confusion about growing up and not knowing where you're going. The appeal of Basket Case, is also undeniable. Billie ... ...The main draw of Dookie is the energy of the music. Dookie has a lot of excellent rockers. Welcome to Paradise, a song about a runaway finding a home on the streets that was also on the band's Kerplunk CD, is great juiced up three chord rock. The lightning quick She is very good fun. When I Come Around has a great guitar riff and a little more sophistication than most of Dookie. On Pulling Teeth, about staying with a girl out of her fear of her violence, ...

Advantages: A great deal of variety throughout Disadvantages: ??
Dookie is arguably Greenday's best album. It was recorded in 1994, after Kerplunk in '92 (before they were backed by a major label), and before Insomniac in '95. This album is definitely the one that brought the punk trio into the limelight for all to hear. Unfortunatley, this is seen as selling out by many, but in my opinion, it can be seen as an education to the masses.
The style of the album is predominantly punk, as Greenday are a punk band ... ...the obvious big track of Dookie 'Basketcase', which is probably the most played Greenday track in bars, pubs and clubs. This again is very punk rock with memorable lyrics and fantastic riffs.
The 14 tracks of Dookie certainly provide the listener with an insight into the minds of B-J and the boys, and is perfect for the virgin Greenday listener, as it shows of all aspects of their career. It's certainly worth the investment. ...

'Welcome to Paradise' was originally included on the bands 1992 album 'Kerplunk', however was rerecorded for the 'Dookie' album and is one that I feel has been pulled off incredibly well here. It is one of my favourite Green Day tracks and every time I listen to this one I smile. The vocals are strong, the chorus is excellent, and the guitars shine through magnificently as the band smash this one out with great attitude and a huge level of excitement. ... ...this is in my opinion Green Day at their very best. 'She' is another of my favourites from this album. It is a well written track and once more shows the band at their best I feel. It's quite soft in sound but the lyrics are hard hitting and it works extremely well at the centre of this album I feel. It is an incredibly effective track, it cries out to be listened to and as you do so it certainly does not disappoint. Green Day definitely succeed ...

...of these appear on the Dookie album (Reprise Records 1994). It is one of the 3 albums that are widely available from mainstream retailers in the UK, their other albums being much harder to find over here.

Advantages: classic pop-punk record Disadvantages: never matched it themselves
Forgive me if this doesn't sound like a Green Day review at first .......... In the early 90's the music scene was all about 'grunge'. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden had all come along and kicked all opposition aside to revolutionise the 'current' music scene. Hair metal (all except Bon Jovi) was kicked to the curb in favour of loud, hard music from largely, Seattle. 'Nevermind' and 'Ten' came and (after time), went, then we ... ...bands slowly fell away, Eddie Vedder got to big for his boots, Kurt Cobain came across a gun and AIC just became stale and repetitive. However much 'grunge' had entertained us, something new now had to come along and do the job of revolutionising the scene once again. Enter Green Day, a trio of Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool (gotta love it) and Mike Dirnt. Their idea was to not take the music so seriously and just have fun with it. After a couple ...
