Advantages: Amazeingly Great Disadvantages: U may end up singing the songs to your self all day :-)
Greenday are often slated by some of the gutarists I know because of the simplisity of the music, but this is one of the things that in my mind make Greenday great (and not only because I'm rubish on the guitar) because the sounds they manage to make sond brilliant - "Good Ridance (Time of your life)" for example which in my humble opion is one of there best songs is notorisly easy to play but sounds great. The album is a mix of fast 'n' loud punk ... ...what ever mood your in - "King for a Day" for example is not only funny but also meaning full, while "Good Ridance" is geunianly moveing and meaning full while still being a great song - It's inveatable at a party some one will pick up a guitar and break into "It's not a question....."
The track order is brilliant, clearly alot of thought has gone into it and there are no bad tracks - the only real problem is picking a favorate because all the songs ...

Advantages: catchy simple songs Disadvantages: some songs not to the standard of other songs
Green Day undiputably are the one of the best Skapunk bands at present. This definetley is Green Days best album, although their other albums are also very good. The whole album is mainly a series of modern rock ballads. The album starts of very thrashy and in your face with the song Burnout. It continues like this for the next 5 songs. Track 5 (welcome to paradise) is one of the best songs on the album and describes the life of a student who has ... ...in perfectly with the rhythm. The next noteably signifigant song on this album is "Basket Case" which, excluding "Time of Your Life", is Green Days" most well known song. This song tells the story of a insane person who is looking for a answer to his problems. The bass and the guitar work to together to keep a flowing sound throughout the song and the lyrics are different from any others that i have heard in a long time. The track after this is called ...

Advantages: Excellent songs such as basket case Disadvantages: none
This album is a very good example of Green Days ability to produce good songs they are all well written and also well played by Green Day. The tracks that really make a good impression are the tracks 'Longview', 'When I Come Around' and also 'Basket Case' but I would say that 'Basket Case' is the track that really stands out and gives a good impression, though every song is excellent. Overall the album is excellent and really good to listen to, it ... ...over again without getting bored. The final song on the album 'F.O.D.' is an excellent song it starts of quite and calm and then bursts into raging guitar and drumming and then the vocals by Billie Joe also start to speed up an amazing song to finish the album off, although there is also a secret track called 'All By Myself' which is just Green Day having fun because it only lasts about a minute and the vocals and lyrics to it are really weird. Never ...

I like this album. Dont get me wrong, itz a good album , and anyone who doesnt like it has something wrong with them. However, it is vastly overated by just about everyone who has ever talked to me about it. As all of the reviews suggest, and as all as my friends told me, this is meant to be a classic album, up there with Nevermind and the likes.... However, it is not. Whilst most of the songs are well performed with amusing lyrics, too many of them ... ...gets boring. Whilst there are stand out tracks like Welcome to Paradise, Basket Case, and When i come Around, too many of them are forgetable, and soon u find yourself skipping tracks. Still, i recomend this album to anyone, especially at a cheap price. However, it aint a classic, and personally, i prefer music from more upbeat punk artists such as Offspring, Blink 182 and Less Than Jake. Buy it, but by all means dont worship it. ...

...would be so meteoric. Dookie is the album around which Green Day made their name world-wide, the album selling by the skip load as well as the multiple hit singles spawned by the album (Basket Case, Welcome to Paradise etc.).
Dookie starts as it means to go on, hard and fast. The songs are a relentless cavalcade of teenage angst, including leaving home, masturbation to name but a couple.
Every track on the album is an absolutely fabulous, grabulous, ... ...The songs are upbeat with thrashing guitars, crazy drums and squalking vocals, the tunes going someway to disguise the rather morbid content of some of the songs mostly involving the despair of the teenage mind.
Many hardcore punk fans felt that Green Day sold out with this album. I disagree popularity doesn't automatically require a shedding of their original ethos. In short this is an album that every teenager should own, and everyone else should ...

Advantages: contains some of Green Day's best work to date. Disadvantages: Some repetitive riffs used.
This is arguably among one of the best punk rock albums to date. With catchy tunes, godd guitar, speedy, bouncy drumkit playing and some amazing bass lines, "Dookie" is one record Green Day will be proud of for a long time.
The album starts off on a fast note (please excuse the pun) with "Burnout" and moves on to the more melodic likes of "chump" leading on to the cheaky, California punk lyrics of "Longview", "In ahouse with unlocked doors and I'm ... ...of it's fourteen track repetoir with "F.O.D", which contains some brilliant acoustic guitar from Billie Joe contrasted with the heavy punk rythems heard earlier on the album.
The secret track, approxamately five mins after the end of "F.O.D" entitled "All By Myself" is a humerous number about masturbation and lonelyness.
"Dookie" contains some of the most well known songs by Green Day, this including the massive hit single "Basket Case" which is ...

Advantages: Great lyrics, great album cover, great music Disadvantages: Some bad language may not appeal to everyone
"Dookie" is a great album by Green Day. it was one of the first albums I put onto my MP3 player and I still listen to it regularly now. I think the cover art is amazing and extremely detailed which adds to the general appeal of the album. However, there is some bad language used in the song lyrics but I personally believe that it's an amazing album anyway, despite the bad language. The songs are energetic and the beat is very good. The songs are ...

Advantages: Probably the best album in the world Disadvantages: You may find yourself glued to your CD player, becoming isolated and forgetting there's a world out there. Though I'm not sure that's a disadvantage
Apparently Dookie is American for shit. If this is true then this album is certainly nothing like it's title. The entire album is 14 (+1) tracks of mostly upbeat punk classics. It's rare that I'll actually listen to every track on an album when I play through it but this is one where I can. It was the album that made these Florida punks famous way back in 1994, but it still has every right to feature in CD collections today. It's a classic. The most ... ...the best songs ever released. Dookie is the album that made the guys famous, but this was the single that really made them big. A classic song bursting with paranoia. I skip on again now to track 13, In The End, which I believe (being my sexist self apparently) sums up women in under 2 minutes. FOD, the last track starts of slow and accoustic before building up to a full-on punk explosion. A bonus track on the end of this one, "All by myself" in ...

Quick review of Dookie - Green Day
Definitely one of Green Day's better albums. As an owner of all 9 so far, I have to say this is one of the more energetic, catchy albums. The songs are all very different and the sound is more original and "punkier" than their newer stuff. This is Green Day in their element! ...

...receiving my first copy of Dookie for Christmas in 1994 on cassette, and being only ten years old and very impressionable, I got quite a bit of visceral entertainment out of Green Day's music and image. I remember listening to the tape over and over again (so much so that the tape player ate it), all while looking at the "dirty" cartoons and swear words within the booklet, thinking how cool it all was. At the time, I didn't have much of a musical ... ...one of the bands that shaped me. No doubt, Green Day's major label breakthrough, "Dookie," is an influential album. Although critics would never give it as much credit as Nirvana's "Nevermind," it has had a similar impact on our culture. For one thing, Green Day are one of the few groups to have survived the 90's and aged with grace -- even outdoing themselves with the acclaimed, award winning "American Idiot." Their influence is obvious in countless ...

This is a record that you simply must have in your collection! All the songs are now classics, making thi salbum absolutely timeless!
The most well known song here is "Basket Case". If you don't have much Green Day knowledge you may say "what's that? never heard of it" but believe me, unless you have been living on Mars for the last 5 years, you WILL have heard it! It is very anthemic and unbelieveably catchy. I guarantee that after just one playing ... ...it out of your head. It is one of those songs which you can hear over and over and over again and never tire of hearing it.
All the other songs are just as good, making this a must have album.
If you don't own a Green Day album, a great first one to get 9it was the one I got first), and if you do own other ones... Why don't you have this one?! It's amazing!

Advantages: it has a good selection of happy and sad songs. Disadvantages: their newest music sounds pretty crap
Dookie was probably greendays most succesful studio album and is really what shone the light of fame upon them.
The progression from the albums predecessor "Kerplunk" shows how ,althought the music was great, the band started to sound alot less like a stereo-typical eighties punk band and infact this album began to sound slighlty different to all their other stuff.
The album has a total of fourteen tracks with probably one of the most well known ... ...and from what i have heard of their latest album it sounds not too good at all. Advantages: basketcase track Disadvantages: old music / punk greenday
Dookie is an early album from Greenday and is very punk. Nowadays they are not quite seen as a punk band but more rock. It is their 3rd studio major album. It was released in 1994 and became a worldwide success with new fans.
I do not find these songs as catchy as their new material but these songs are still great.
The best song has to be "Basketcase" as this is well known and as catchy as ever!
It also has other singles that they released on ... ...come around.
This is the album that hit the charts with a bang and gained Greenday a lot, lot more fans than they had before.
Up to 2007 it was the bands best selling album, selling over 15 million copies worldwide. it is greendays only diamond album so far.
If you like punk or you like greenday you should definatly try out this album!! ...
