Advantages: Unique style Disadvantages: Not suitble for all ages
This is one of the first Green Day ablums I owned.
Absoulutly loved it. Green Day certainly aint everybodys cup of tea so to speak and I myself listen to many different types of music but I really enjoyed this cd.
The Californan band first hit England in the early 90's and never really went away, there was a queit period before they smashed into the top 40 again

...older material, I think that Dookie was Green Day's most original album and by far the best! Every song on the album has a unique and catchy sound, and not like many other bands that I can think of. On this album the band have gone for a very up-beat sound, without losing the punk-rock beat. I'm sure you'll love the album just as much as I do! This album proves that Green Day are deffinately in tune with the kids from the 90's. :) ...

Advantages: the whole album! Disadvantages: It's not free!
...own sound, the music on dookie tends to be short guitar blazing tracks, which do more then to please any Punk-wanabie. There are so many tracks on this album I like, I don't want to sound like a lier and make you think i'm overating this album, But honestly if you like punk, Greenday are the only contenders, Sure theres bands like Offspring, but sadly they seem to be going more commercial all the time. ...and decided on buying the dookie album. The album shows out standing contribution from the band members it not only lets their talents shine through but their personalities aswell. I admire them for being a sucessful alturnate music band without having to add unsuitable language to many of their songs.

This is the album that launched Green Day and introduced them to the masses. Overflowing with punk-pop tunes that have been an obvious influence on some of the bands around today (sum 41, Blink 182 etc...). In my opinion this is the ultimate Green Day album, before they got all serious and political. A great starting point for people who've never heard the band before and well worth checking out if you're a fan of their more recent stuff.

I originally bought "Dookie" so I could have the opportunity to listen to "Basket Case" every day of the week. I listened to this exclusively for a week, then got bored and let the album rot in my Cd rack for a month. Then, one day, I decided to listen to some of the other tracks, and I discovered this supremely witty, well-written, album with some great music and of course the MAD drum fills. There are also a lot of musical "twists" to it, i.e it ... ...and the drummer starts bashing away like a madman. I have hardly stopped listening to it, from "Burnout" to the song for all those people you pretend to like but don't, "F.O.D". Quality music, so good I might just go and buy "Nimrod"! Not bad for 10 quid at all. ...

hey i think this is one of green days most awsomest albums ever its raw and is on a completly diffrent level to all the other 90's rock with billie joe's mastery of the lyrics and a combination of mike and tre they made a great album it has some real hard hitting songs like welcome to paradise and she even tho basket case is the most known off the album green day have slowly gone pop-rock but this album is there most kick ass one id recomend it to ... ...uniqe vocals/guitar and mike's backup vocals/bass and tre cool on drums on all the songs exspecially the hidden track witch was a good idea

Dookie was the first green day album I bought and I couldn't have hoped for a greater insight into the wonders that are green day!
the album although now quite old is one of a few albums thats songs are still popular today
my personal favourites are longview, basket case and when i come around.
although the whole album is brilliant there is a large quantity of the same style, such as warning has a mix or the faster and more cleanline songs this ...

...Then they came along with Dookie and they released "Basket Case" which smashed the scene open.
They brought back a lively punk sound which made you want to get the Strat out of the cupboard switch it on and play along. They sustained this feel with all of the singles off the album. These were "Basket Case", "Longview", "Welcome To Paradise" and "When I Come Around".
All of the singles were outstanding with my favourite two being "Basket Case", ... ...in a pros and cons situation now we have cons is that it is too short considering there is 14 tracks on it. The pros are that it is livelt, energetic and really very exciting to listen to.
It opens with "Burnout" which is lively and it made me think of track 7 "Basket Case" in its approach when I listen to it. Most of the tracks are fast with ones that are slightly different being "When I Come Around" which is a more contemplatory song and it sounds ...

My Dookie album came in a Green Case! I think its Limited Edition! On the front of the Dookie album there is a cartoon with blimps, areoplanes, explosions and a town in it and above the explosion there is a logo '' Green Day '' in yellow. And at the bottom of the album cover there is a logo '' Dookie '' in red! On the back of the dookie album there is a picture of people and an pupet dancing and at the top the album there is a list ... ...are 14 songs on the Dookie album... 1. Burnout, 2. Having a Blast, 3. Chump, 4. Long View, 5. Welcome to Paradise, 6. Pulling Teeth, 7. Basket Case, 8. She, 9 Sassafras Roots, 10. When i come Around, 11. Coming Clean, 12. Emenius Sleepus, 13. In the End and 14. F.O.D. My favourite songs on this album are Basket Case and Chump! I really enjoyed listening to these tracks

...feel, without a doubt, that Dookie meets with these criteria! I get very annoyed with critics of Green Day claiming they 'sold out' with this album. (The same has been said of American Idiot). The band have stayed true to their roots throughout, the fact that they now sell out arenas and stadiums is not because they have sold out it is merely that they have written fantastic songs that so many people enjoy! Basket Case, Welcome to Paradise and Longview ...
