Advantages: Excellent opening to an album - first four tracks are mindblowing Disadvantages: the rest of the album
This is a problem faced by many bands.... 1990 - Your band explode onto the international rock scene with a revolutionary debut album, that was, and still is an absolutely fantastic album... 1994 - After four long years you release the follow up to the debut mentioned above. How could any band follow up such a great album? Zak De La Rocha, Tom Morello, Brad Wilk and Timmy C set out to find a way... This album is very different to their self-titled ... ...is far more variety in between the individual songs, this is the story of an ever changing band... Track 1 - People Of The Sun: The opener for this album, is 'People Of The Sun'. The rapping on this track is probably the best on any rage track, except maybe 'Sleep Now In The Fire'. This song is primarily about Mexico and their battle for freedom. It is an excellent album-opener and is typical rage in the way it is presented, with yet another excellent ...

Advantages: Heavier than their other albums, if you like that sort of thing Disadvantages: Heavier than their other albums, if you don't like that sort of thing
1996 saw the long awaited release of Rage Against the Machine's second album 'Evil Empire', a much darker and heavier album than their self titled debut. In league with their political stand point the title is in reference to the name given to the former Soviet Union by Ronald Regan and other conservatives. Although the album was produced 12 years ago it is interesting to note the same political concerns are still prevelant. Featuring less innovation ... ...the vocals. The line up remained the same with legendary guitarist Tom Morello, vocals by Zach de la Rocha, drummer Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford on bass. The album was produced by the band themselves.

Advantages: Brilliant songs! nuff said Disadvantages: Not well known. :(
Evil Empire is simply a brilliant album. After buying it I listened to it for a week straight. I can not uderstand why it is not more popular. So many people havent even heard of it, but they are missing out.
The album finishes brilliantly with 'year of tha boomerang' which is a great song. The stark reality of life is expressed as tuneful, yet heavy in parts melody.
'People of the sun' shows the bands ability to rock hard, and was a classic single ... ...Against the Machine activist lyrics. The whole album is different to the common sound known to belong to Rage Against the Machine, but is still great. It is a hidden album, forgotten by most people. But true music lovers will find it a brilliant addition to their CD collection. I wish more people knew about it!!! ...

Advantages: Still a damn good album. BUY IT Disadvantages: Marginally their least brilliant album to date
The second album released by Rage in 1996. My personal feeling is that it is their worst album to date, or should I say their least best album to date, as this is by no means poor album in any way.
I would say that ‘Evil Empire’ is my least favourite Rage album, possibly because the other two are so good, meaning that I expect so much from the band.
One aspect of this album which I think is very recognisable is that is has a stronger rock vibe ... ...the first album. This is very recognisable in such tracks as the heavier ‘Tire Me’ and the melodic ‘Snakecharmer’. By no means do I think this a bad thing, as it shows a slightly different style to Rage, while still retaining their very distinctive vibe.
Overall I would say that this is a brilliant album, which is well worth buying (as with all the Rage albums). Just because I say it is my least favourite Rage album, shouldn’t put you off buying ...

Evil Empire is one of the best ablums available. it contians a great mix of songs and often the songs themselves are varied and changing from verse to chorus. whilst rage against the machine are no longer around they are still a greta band and i tis well worht buying their albums. whilst their music is not liked by all i find that their mix of rap and heavy guitar is a perfect combination to get anybody moving and moshing along with many of their ...
