And I'm talking about proper pop here, melt-the-throat stuff which puts a kick in your step. The lyrics and the vocals are great, the music is aces, and the whole package is a wonderful playlist. Listen to it when you're bored, listen when you're downbeat, listen if you're happy. ...decided to get Jem’s album Finally Woken, that and hearing the stunning single ‘They’. Welsh born Jem is unknown here, in America though she is massive (and I don’t mean round the waist!) ...great seductive song. Finally Woken is the title track to this album and one of my favourites, starts off with a spooky sounding gem "wooing" like a ghost in the background before and when her vocal kicks in. A very chilled out melody, you can actually picture yourself sitting on a beach looking out to sea when she sings " I have a view of the sun, right over the sea", I am not sure about the meaning of this song but it's almost as if it's about ...
...from a long sleep" or going to the other side and setting yourself free after being stuck between worlds. Save Me is a catchy little number, Jem's material changes direction here a little bit using a reggae guitar backing track all the way through, her voice works great here and proves she can sing different stuff. I got Jem's finally woken after hearing the first single 'they' on radio 1. This song really grows on you. The rest of the album is much the same of laid back melodies with beautiful vocals by Welsh born Jem. Apparently a massive star in the states, im sure she's heading the same way here. ...'Wish I'. Discovering this was finally made me go out and by the JEM album 'Finally Woken' Tthe album contains 11 tracks including the two single above. Each of the songs are wonderfully chilled making the album perfect for putting on in backround whilst having a drink and reading a book after a stressful day. I bought this album on Ebay in July 2005 for £4.99 and it is one of the best CDs around. I'm into dance music, so I thought this wouldn't be my kind of album really. How wrong I was, I listened to a few of the songs on msn music and thought, I'm having this album.
