Some of you may never heard of Franz Ferdinand or if you have you may not know much about them and their music. Well allow me if you will to firstly introduce the band. They have also recently won the Mercury Music Prize and have had lots of nominations for the up and coming Q awards.

...album of the Glasgow-based band Franz Ferdinand, ingeniously titled "Franz Ferdinand". Now before I really get into the meat of it I think it will be good of people to note that I don't usually listen to music of this kind, so my approach will probably differ somewhat from the established norm of fanboyish glowing and centre more on the actual musical merits and enjoyability from my point of view (which my complete inability to actually listen to ... ...may the dissecting begin.
Franz Ferdinand's roots lay with the impromptu idea of two Scots, Bob Hardy and Alex Kapranos, to set up a band after acquiring a bass that Bob learned to play and write music that would be something "girls could dance to." Shortly afterwards they met Nick McCarthy in the kitchen of two chick friends or alternatively some restaurant type place (the bio on their website was a little vague, probably assuming that I know who ...

...arrival of Snow Patrol and Franz Ferdinand on the music scene shows that for every Mull Historical Society Scotland is still capable of producing a few decent bands. Having already told you about Snow Patrol it’s obviously the turn of Glasgow based Franz Ferdinand who got together back in 2001 after a couple of friends decided to form and band and then happened to come across another couple of guys who they didn’t know but fancied giving it a try.

The opening track “Jacqueline” is a contrast of 2 very different styles, which really compliment each other well. The start is much slower than the rest of the album, with the vocals leading in over the odd strum of the guitar. Then the main part of the song really gets going as the guitar really speeds up and takes over, with a drum beat adding into the back ground and the real start to the album. The ...

The debut album from the this groupd of Scottish Rockers was released in 2004 (was it really that long ago?...) around the same time as their breakthrough hit "Take me out" reached number 3 in the UK. The second track is "Tell her tonight" starting much differently to the slow misleading beginning of the previous track. ...how it all started.
Franz Ferdinand are Robert Hardy, Alexander Kapranos, Nicholas McCarthy & Paul Thomson. They started of in Glasgow, Scotland. They started playing music pretty much for the chicks and I dare say that their plan has worked. They got the name from the World War I German war criminal or general, whatever you want to call it.

Advantages: Strong Tracks, Good Lyrics, Original, Started the rebirth of modern Indie Music Disadvantages: quality of the first album could not be repeated on their following albums
When Franz Ferdinand released Take Me Out in 2004, it immediately charted at #3 in the British charts and reached the top 20 in numerous European Charts and even managed to do what many of its musical predecessors had previously failed to do : crack the US top 20. 7.This Fire- Probably the most original/individual track on the album, this touches on a guy's lust for a woman that can`t be controlled. Legendary Chorus.
8.Darts of Pleasure- Probably my least favourite anthem on the album. It still has good lyrics but it is comparable to "Evil and a Heathen" on the proceeding album "You could have it so much better"as it gets better towards the end. The lyrics ...

It all started with the one song, as many will have heard, "Take Me Out". It could have been a one hit wonder for this indie rock band, but, noticeably from this album, it was not! Every song on the album has a feeling of originality to it and it really does promote the band excellently for future work.

Advantages: Only the best album of 2004 Disadvantages: Making a fool of yourself when dancing to it
I have to say, Franz Ferdinand's self-titled album is definetely, in my opinion, without a doubt, hands down, THE best album of 2004. Not even Usher's Confessions, Avril Lavigne's Under My Skin(well, hardly any competition here), Alanis Morisette's So Called Chaos, Ash's Meltdown, Keane's Hopes and Fears, Snow Patrol's Final Straw and even Scissor Sister's self-tited album(although VERY close) are good enough to beat Franz Ferdinand's debut album. ... ...friends who HATE HATE HATE Franz Ferdinand and friends who love their CD to death, so I guess you can either love it or hate it. The Franz Ferdinand album, imaginativly names "Franz Ferdinand" has been pumping out of my CD player for some time now and i am very impressed with it!
The hit single "Take me out" is a good representation of the album, as every one of the eleven tracks are infectious and cleverly orchestrated. "Darts of pleasure", the next single off the ablum is also one to look out for.

Track 2, "Tell her tonight" is reminiscent of "The Coral" but still maintains its originality with Alex Kaprano's deep voice and cool lyrics.
Next is the single "Take me out". I can really see why this was chosen as the first single off the album. It's an amazing song and, despite the fact it has been overplayed, it hasn't made me want to turn off the radio.

...my favourite albums ever!
Franz ferdinand are a Glasgow based indie style band, and this is their debut album. The album starts with Jacqueline, one of the most catchy songs - with the chorus it's always better on holiday, so much better on holiday. This track has been used on various TV ad campaigns, including Tennants festivals. This is followed by Tell her tonight, another catchy guitar based track with a singalong chorus.
Take me out follows, ... ...and are in the typical Franz Ferdinand style.
I found this review hard to write, as Franz Ferdinand have an unqiue sound, and this follows through all the tracks on the album, meaning that all the tracks have some similar sounds to them. If you loved the singles, you won't be disappointed, if not, this album isn't for you. Yes, they have a samey sound, but each track sounds unique, and it's a fun singalong album.
