Advantages: Great tracks, original, suits his voice wonderfully. Disadvantages: Has to have been listenend to a few times to be enjoyed.
I never bought “From Now On” Will Young’s debut album. Why? Well, I’d read so many times, that, although, a very good album it just wasn’t the music that suited his voice. So, rather than buying that and not enjoying it, I decided I’d wait until his second album came out. So, after waiting over 16 months Friday’s Child – Will’s second album – was released and I knew that I wanted it, and ... ...I told my sister I’d love it, and mid-December seeing a square shaped plastic thing wrapped under the tree to me from my sister, I guessed that she’d followed my request! So, come Christmas night I put on Will’s album, hearing it for the first time I must admit I didn’t love it at first. There were a few tracks that I immediately liked and fell in love with, but others, although I knew they were good didn’t jump out ...

Advantages: Chilled, grown up, amazing voice Disadvantages: Too short!
...I felt when listening to Friday's Child.
In his second album, Pop Idol winner Will Young has become the artist I hoped he would be. He has thrown off the shackles of reality tv stardom, and the grip of the pop supremos who probably thought they could control him, and is comfortable in his own skin. And he shines.
After the disappointment of From Now On (more the hasty, milk-it-while-it's-hot Pop Idol winner's album than a Will Young album), Friday's ... ...tracks co-written by Will himself, Friday's Child is much more indicative of his own taste and influences and shows he could be an artist of great longevity.
Here is a delectable collection of delicate ballads, smooth easy grooves, and glorious Chic-influenced jazz funk dancefloor fillers. And weaving them all together, that smooth, creamy, unmistakable voice. Having already spawned two hit singles, Your Game (wickedly funky, gospelly, big-chorused ...

“Where’s Will Young gone?”
I’d heard this question over the latter half of 2003 about a dozen times. A fair few people know that I’m a massive fan (just so you know my prejudices before this review really kicks off) and despite my protestations that he’d spent the year writing and recording the new album and doing a bit of European promotion, most people seemed to assume he’d just called it quits like so ... ...came back with his new single last month which caused stock shortages as the shops underestimated his continued popularity. But with albums by reality artists performing relatively badly – Will’s “Pop Idol” compatriate Gareth Gates saw his second album flop by entering the charts at number 11 earlier this year – the big question was how this album would perform. The follow up to his successful debut “From Now On” ...

Advantages: Excellent voice, excellent songs Disadvantages: One average song
...The next song Friday's Child is his latest single and is over 9 minutes long, and every minute is brilliant. It proves to be one of the highlights on the album and a perfect way to close the multi platinum album. The song has everything, soft mellow strings, flutes which give a magical fantasy sound, and great vocals. I feel that if this track was to be cut down it wouldn't be the same, as you need the 9 minutes for the music to develop and provide ... ...out for more. I don’t know if it is based on the children's nursery rhyme but according to Will “Monday’s got a beautiful baby, Wednesday’s child can never win, Saturday work’s till he’s crazy, and Friday’s child was born to give” There is no mention of what Thursday’s child is, which is the day I was born on. Another treat with this song is the video, and if you haven’t seen it on the music ...

...album illustration! Friday's Child and Will Young, in hand script, are written in white across the blue sky. The CD itself, is white, with the title and artist written in a beautiful powder blue! Im hoping tomatch it, so I can paint my bathroom the same colour!! The tree simply illustrates the base of the CD. Simple but very effective! Beautiful!

Song 11 - Friday's Child
The title track. This song has accompaniments from a harmonica, a guitar, and a flute! Smooth, slow. That funky bass backing is there but the song never catches my attention really until one line in the chorus, which is the title line! The words seem to complicate the song! Too much to listen to! Does that sound stupid or what!!
There are no bonus tracks unfortunately! Always nice to get a treat! The last double ...

Ok...haven't written a review in a long time so I expect I will be a bit rusty. I have just been on holiday to Dubai and to make me even more relaxed while sunbathing in the hot 25'C sun...jealous yet?...I brought along my CD player.

In 2002, he won the first series of Pop Idol, the reality TV show featuring Simon Cowell, and since then has stormed the charts with the biggest selling debut single, ‘Evergreen’ and other singles, one of the best being a cover of The Doors’ classic, ‘Light My Fire’. He has performed in front of millions, his most famous ...

Advantages: Some strong tracks Disadvantages: A couple I'm not fond of
Will Young firs came to our attention when he won Pop Idol but I must admit that I wasn’t really that into him. My mum however quite liked his music and so how or another his album Friday’s Child has found it’s way into my collection list and onto my review list. Like I have already mentioned Will Young came to attention through the talent contest Pop Idol in 2002 and although everyone seemed to believe he was the underdog he emerged victorious ahead ... ...a cover of Westlife’s Evergreen and top the charts from the start. In 2008 it was also acknowledged that the single was the biggest single of the 21st century. He then went on to release his first album in October 2002, which was entitled From Now On and reached number One in the UK charts. His second album and the one I am reviewing today is ‘Friday’s Child’ and was released in December 2003 and also reached number one in the UK charts. == Track ...

Advantages: surprisingly good Disadvantages: bad final track
I hate pop idol and I hate pop music so why 5 months down the line am I listening to Will Young still? Because he makes interesting music. Its people like Jamie Cullum who make jazzy piano stuff cool and Will Young has made a jazz-influenced album and pulled it off pretty well.
I wasnt keen on it at first when I found it in my stocking on non-snowy xmas day in 2003, but having listened to it more and more I kinda like it.
So here is my track by ... ...titled “Love The One You’re With" and is an up-tempo song and a great opening to get it going. I immediately liked the song and it has a very positive, feel-good vibe to it. It has a lot of backing voices in it, methinks it is a gospel-choir or something, which works really well with his voice. Its feel-good vibe undoubtedly comes not only from the music, but teh lyrics too. He has a great song-writing ability in my opinion and the lyrics ...

Advantages: Fresh, orginal, fantastic voice Disadvantages: Some songs a bit repetitive
Thank you ‘Pop Idol' for blessing us with the talent that is Will Young. Thank God it wasn't the annoying, relying on sympathy votes G-G-Gareth Gates or sly, cheesy Daruis Danesh that won the UK's first ever 'Pop Idol' and thank God that for once the nation woke up and voted for the underdog and the only one with talent.
I remember my mum first took notice of Will when he sang a cover of The Doors' 'Light My Fire' during one of the heats. 'If there's ... ...wasn't until the next week when he covered Bill Withers' 'Ain't No Sunshine' (One of my favourites!) that I realised that this guy could actually WIN. I then proceeded to vote for him every week, got into fights at school with Gareth lovers and voted at least eighty times on the Final. Will's debut single 'Evergreen' shot straight to Number One, breaking records left. right and centre and the rest, as they say, is history.

I had like everyone else heard the rumours of Will Young calling it quits, and leaving BMG and not even writing nor recording a second album. Me being a usual fan of the artist who produced the wonderful, and soulful ''From Now On'' - the 1st album, I was sure that ''Friday's Child'' would be of the same quality, even better. This was surely for me, and a group load of other people obviously going to be a hugely anticptated album after a long break, ... ...me wanting more. When i got this, I was not suprised. It seemed distinctive, soulful, jazzy, excellent - just what i expected and wanted. The tracks just flow on from each other and they seem to carry their own meaningful message with Will Young being the vehicle to get that message across. There are 11 tracks, over half of which reportdly which Young has written or help to write. ''Love The One You're With'' is a cover of the classic, of which Young ...

Advantages: Stunning variety. Original. The voice. Disadvantages: Many still lump Will with the 'Pop Idol' stable... Please don't.
WILL YOUNG came to the forefront of music as the (some would say unlikely) winner of the first ever Pop Idol contest on ITV back in 2002. I’m no snob and even where music is concerned believe if you’ve got the talent you deserve to be put in the limelight and live the dream regardless whether you’ve chosen to venture down the road of reality TV rather than the more traditional route, which lets face it is usually regarded as being the more credible. ... ...I think you should stop reading right now. FRIDAY’S CHILD the latest offering from Will Young is proof of the pudding that reality TV can breed a winner, not just a flash in the pan, in fact I think it’s fair to say Will’s well and truly outgrown his manufactured stable and is out there touting for the recognition along with some of the musical greats. Not convinced?

...their style of music. Friday's Child starts with the cover of the Stilles, Crosby & Nash hit "Love The One You're With" this gospel felt piece of soul starts the album off on a high and to be fair the album just gets better and better after this point. Then come two ballads, Will style! Non of the Westlife stereotypical smoochy stuff though. "Stronger" and "Leave Right Now" get straight to the point and with great pinnache. Will Youngs Friday's Child is a great second album. I did not purchase the first as I knew I would never really get to listen to it as my hubby can't stand him! I decided to buy this album and make him listen to it as I have to sit through his rubbish in the car and fair is fair.
There are 11 tracks on this album:-
1 - Love the one You're with
2 - Your game
3 - Stronger
4 - Leave right now
5 - Love is a matter of distance
6 - Dance the night ... ...Going my way
10 - Out of my mind
11 - Fridays Child
I find that Will has really come out of his shell on this album and has started to move away from the 'manufactured pop star' the x-factor gave him. He is in great voice through out and I throughly enjoy all of the songs which range from ballards to more up-tempo songs.

Will has such a wonderful unique voice, no matter what he sings it sounds brill.
I thought when he was singing other peoples songs he sounded great but when actually hearing his own songs you can really hear and see how talented he is and how he deserved to win pop idol as he can not only sings other peoples songs but he can actually write his own and sing them well.

Advantages: Breaking the 'Pop Idol' tag, Unique sound. Disadvantages: -
I received this album as a belated gift, and I thought I would give it a go - as to be honest I was a slight fan of the original 'Pop Idol.' Coming off the back of the pop near-classics such as 'Evergreen' and 'You & I', you wouldn't be wrong to expect an album full of similar sounding pop songs in an attempt by Simon Cowell to cash in on the second series of the hit UK series.
The album does completely the opposite of what is expected and breaks ... ...Now' was the comeback single for Will from his break in Mexico, and was a classic. Fans of many different styles all came together at my college and admitted to liking this song.
However, it isn't all 'mushy' ballads on offer from the talented Mr. Young. Titles such as 'Dance The Night Away' and the latest release 'Your Game' break into a new genre of jazz/pop combination. Both are excellent singles highlighting Will's talent for this genre.
