Advantages: Some great tunes, top vocals, Disadvantages: bit too long, no good for people who hate ballads!
JIMMY EAT WORLD
FUTURES
2004
-----------------------------
Jimmy Eat World are one of those bands that nobody knew for years then suddenly they have a breakthrough album and suddenly they are in everyone’s cd collection.
Well they are back again with a new album, and a bit of a new sound.
The band formed way back in 1993, and did some tours released some Ep’s and just generally gained a small fan base.
In 1994 they released their debut album, ... ...label.
After this the band was quickly signed up to Capitol Records, and released second album ‘Static Prevails’ in 1996.
This was a very rough, quite punky affair which had its moments but ultimately was a slight let down.
On to 1999 and the bands third album ‘Clarity’, and here we see the band sounding completely different, and a lot better.
The album did quite well and gained the band a good few fans, then they were dumped by their record ...

Advantages: Massively melodic and hugely energetic and entertaining music. Disadvantages: I fail to think of any.
Jimmy Eat World formed way back in 1993, however it was not until some years later that they'd become the household name that they are today. They started out small, releasing their first album in 1994 through Wooden Blue Records; it was aptly titled simply 'Jimmy Eat World'. Doesn't appear as though they were awfully creative in their early days then but there you go, they were shortly after snapped up by Capitol and in 1996 released their first ... ...album and was released in the year 2004, it has to date sold over 607 000 copies in the U.S. alone and has therefore secured 'Gold' status.
'Pain' was the single chosen to lead this album and also released were the tracks 'Work' and 'Futures'. 'Futures' is perhaps the weakest of those chosen to be singles and proved as much when it turned out to be the least successful of the three. Of the chosen single tracks, 'Pain' is without doubt the one I ...

...smashing beats on drums.
Futures is their fifth studio album. There is a good mixture of songs on this album, some songs are fast and some are slow, but all seem to have a lot of thought and passion behind them. 'Futures', 'Pain' & '23' my favourites on the album, with 'Drugs Or Me' & 'Polaris' being my least favourites. This album is a must for every music fan.
It album kicks off with the title song. 'Futures' is loud. It's a strong start to the ... ...is next, it is strong but it's very repetitive.
'Work' is a song about two work colleges falling in love, but work getting in the way. It's a good song - but I am not a massive fan of it.
'Kill' is a song that everyone can relate to - when you like someone, and they don't like you back. It's a good song.
'The World You Love' is also good, it's hard to tell the exact meaning behind the song. But it sounds good.
'Pain' is one of my favourites. ...

Advantages: 23, Variety in songs Disadvantages: Weaker second half to album
When 'Futures' was finally released, it seemed that the furore surrounding 'Bleed American' had completely died down. The fairweather fanbase that the band had picked up had all but bled away, leaving most of their original fans to pick up the pieces. This is a record that isnt so intent on scoring hits as their previous work, its takes a considerable time for these songs to sink into the skin. It starts with a bang - The title track acting as a ... ...really means it (and he does) This good work continues through the first half of the album, hardly letting the pace settle through 'Just Tonight', 'Work' and 'Kill'. The original version of this had a song called 'Jen' before 'Pain', another upbeat little groover that is sadly missed on this album. The second half is more experimental, the group trying new sounds, dropping the pace and testing the waters. It all ends with the greatest ever Jimmy ...

Advantages: A different approach to emo Disadvantages: Some of the tracks drag on a bit
...the very first notes of Futures to the final strum of the amazing (but long!) 23, these Emo rockers get you grooving and thinking. The first single taken from the album 'Work' is still one of the best tracks but this album is certainly not a 'one trick pony' with a few b-side chucked in. The album was produced by Gil Norton, who has worked on albums by Foo Fighters and the Pixies. Gil Norton is one of the greatest producers of modern rock albums ... ...you could say the album should be good. To top it off, the album packaging is great with a interesting photographs included so if you are into buying album for the graphics, this could be for you. Some of the tracks do have some clichéd lyrics and it does drag on a bit but hey, very few albums continue a fresh approach throughout the whole album. Overall, I would recommend this album to anyone who is into rock. ...
