Advantages: The Most Personal Nas album ever Disadvantages: A few
...wrong with the release of God's Son, as we see Nas single-handedly bring his career from the depths and ressurect it like Jesus Christ himself. Never fear Nas rans, Murder Inc and all of its subdivisions are void from this album. Stillmatic began the rebirth, and God's Son gives Nas life once again... Nas decides to kick off God's Son with a bang with the legendary "Get Down". In my personal opinion, this track is a classic and the perfect way to ... ...Nas career appears here on God's Son in the form of "Last Real Nigga Alive". Nas makes a huge jump in the way-back machine here, taking us back to 1994-1997 time period, moving us up to a bit more of a recent time period, but thats later. Nas basically goes all out and gives us pure honesty, revealing the truth about his very much hidden past. Nas goes on wax speaking about a very interesting situation with Raekwon the Chef, Notorious B.I.G., Steve ...

Advantages: A couple of bangers Disadvantages: Inconsistent
"God' Son" came out in 2002, and it was the sixth album from the Queensbridge, New York rapper, Nas. It came directly off his future classic, "Stillmatic" and unfortunately soon after the death of his mother (who acted as inspiration to some of the work here. It also marked a time where his beef with Jay-Z was still around its peak,so the material reflects this too. 1. "Get Down" Kicking the album off you here a clear shift in the direction of the ... ...material where he utiliseslots of James Brown and does a Soul-based recording to make for a good opener to this record. **Four Stars** 2. "The Cross" Hearing this the first time around I thought that it was Dr. Dre behind this, as the beat reminded me so much of the work that he produced for the likes of Busta Rhymes aroudn this time. However it is Dre's ex-protege, Emimem responsible for it and he gives him clumsy beats to work with, and it seems ...

Nas - God's Son
Nasir Jones, known as Nas (Niggaz against society as he tells us) released this album in 2002. This was album number 6 and he had alredy had significant sucess in the US especially with his first album Illmatic.
This album is quite a paradox for on the one hand he is obnoxious giving it some real traditional hip hop arrogance, and yet there is significant depth in this album too.
I'll review the tracks and that may illustrate my ... ...backing to this song, use of funky electric guitars, some horns and trumpets and his clear and distintive voice. Quite a story to the track too, good opener, strong, accomplished and very, very cool. 8/10.
Postscript...samples are from James Brown, good old Wikipedia.
2. The Cross.
Starts off with a thumping bass and some nice piano and organ work, controversial lyrics, no doubt influenced by his 'beef' with Jay-Z. Great hook line, His voice reminds ...

Advantages: Some powerful lyrics from the best ghetto poet around! Disadvantages: A few disappointing tracks
...with yet another poetic masterpiece. God's Son is probably Nasty Nas' best album since his debut "illmatic" in 1994. This album is built on the reputation of the previous few albums but manages to establish its own individuality from the early tracks. I'll run through all of the songs & give you my opinion:
Get Down - This is a real old skool hip hop track with a sample from James Brown on the chorus & great lyrics from Nasty Nas!
The Cross - A ... ...way only Nas can do. God's Son is a classic, it may not be on the level of "illmatic" but God's Son is a more mature Nas, forget the rest Ns is the worlds best lyricist, he is the King Of New York & now finally he has cemented his status as the best rapper alive! ...

Advantages: good high quality hip-hop Disadvantages: will always fall short of "Illmatic"
...evolution through the releases - God's Son was for me a needed reassurance that he still could produce the goods. Not a Classic - but if you like Nas, get this.
GET DOWN
great sample - nice laid back vibe - very held back drumline.... Nas, as always, calculated aggression.... great track. great storytelling. This beat is a little unexciting and bare, but the simplicity is good for Nas to show his skill
THE CROSS
This is a Dr. Dre style beat - ... ...this is a perfectly good tune - but i wish the production has more. Its not fast enough to be a party tune but has a great head snap to it.
MADE YOU LOOK
A great sound to this beat - very full - a real party tune.... personally i don't like the production much - for me it lacks smoothness and cohesion - but I guess that's kind of the point - it's meant to be slightly "messy" .... the feel of this tune is intimidation... matches the words well.

Advantages: Some classic tunes, mature tracks, thought-provoking lyrics Disadvantages: A few week songs, some bad collaborations
Back in 1994 he came up with his first album 'Illmatic', with its ingenious raw story-telling lyrics and mind-blowing flow; it was upheld as one of the best, most influential hip hop albums ever! Next came 'It Was Written', 'Nastradamus' and 'I Am'. None of these were as good as his first; 'Nastardamus' was a huge disappointment. Two years later he dropped 'Stillmatic' a classic and the genius had returned to his normal hip hop self. This crowned ... ...the streets.
Expectations were high with the release of his next album to come in the series, 'God's Son' in 2002. Here’s a run through of the tracks:
~1. Get down - A great start for Nas; intelligent lyrics on an old school style beat. This is what Nas does best, sticking to what he’s best at; being himself, not turning pop and collaborating with charting rappers such as Puff Daddy.
~2. Cross – A derogatory track aimed at his fellow rappers. ...

Advantages: good lyrics, production from Eminem Disadvantages: few tracks which are not that good
Nas returned in 2002 with Gods Son his 5th Studio album. This album was the follow up to the massive album “Stillmatic”. Nas returns to his Illmatic days with this album and his raw lyrics to make this a brilliant album. With his lyrics it has old school beats and is very similar to Rakim. Nas shows his maturity as a rapper as he raps about his mothers death. This is very good album and I highly recommend it.
1.Get Down – A old school track, very ... ...roots to pull this track out. Very good track 9/10
2. The Cross – Produced by Eminem, My personal favourite, Very good beat one you can nod your head along too. 10/10
3. Made You Look – Very good beat, lyrically it is very good. I recommend the remix with Jadakiss And Ludacris a much better track. 7/10
4. Last Real N**** Alive – Tells a story about Big and the beef with Jay Z. Very simple beat not the best song on the album but lyrically it is ...
