I'm just going to have to kick off here with a bit of a first in the life of dave27. If you spend any time at all with the hoary old brute that is Mrs D, you'll soon be aware that there are very few times in my life when I apologise for anything, but I'm afraid that you're going to be privileged on this occasion to hear AN APOLOGY FROM dave27.
I'm sorry, very, very sorry indeed, I'm just so deeply, deeply sorry and I won't do it again....

The best at their best Review ofHot Rocks Vol.1 1964-1971 [Remastered] - Rolling Stones (The)by

Advantages: The Stones at their very best Disadvantages: None
If you were to be stranded on a desert island with only one album then the choice for any level headed person would have to be this collection which features the best of the ‘Rolling Stones’ between 1964 and 1971. I personally feel that the Stones do not, as of yet, get the full credit and praise that they deserve. Not only were they at the forefront of rock n roll for many years, but they have also produced tracks that have transcended the ...

Advantages: great tunes Disadvantages: few weak ones
This double cd is effectively the greatest hits of the rolling stones from 1964 to 1971. It is a great album it has all your favourites on in their original form and there are very few missing. I find the first of the 2 cds much weaker. There are some solid tunes, but no greats with the exception of satisfaction. Meanwhile all the faves are on the second cd: jumping jack flash, brown sugar, gimme shelter etc. this cd does not have a weak link (maybe ...

Advantages: too many to mention Disadvantages: none
A great collection of songs from one of the best bands ever. It is always a source of wonderment to me why the stones never get the credit they deserve. In fact the reason is their inexplicably continuing career, why couldn't they give up in the mid or at least the late 70's. Instead they've made themselves into a laughable anachronism. This collection showcases their transition from dedicated blues traditionists to stomping honky tonk tunesmiths. ...

Advantages: A diamond in every track Disadvantages: Could use more info on the inlay
I bought this double album some years ago to get an effective introduction to the Rolling Stones, a group who seemed deemed to be forever in the shadows of those lovable scouse chappies The Beatles.
From the very start with a sublime 'Time is on my side' this is a captivating tribute to a band who for my money, can dump from a great height on their Liverpudlian 'rivals'.
The blues influences are clear in the earlier tracks, changing through the ...

A couple of years ago I unexpectedly was given two tickets to go to see the Stones at Wembley. Not being a mega fan but liking what I knew about them i decided I'd better buy a CD so that I knew some of their tunes (there is nothing worse than being at a gig and not knowing the songs)
So into HMV I went and this was in the sale. It has got all of their classic hits on it. all on the two CDs. But when I got to the car I put the CD in and put the volume ...

Advantages: All the good songs on one album Disadvantages: Does;nt beat the amazing albums
This domestic double-disc anthology contains their biggest hits on London, as well as many of their most popular album tracks. A stereo version of "Satisfaction" is the highlight, and worth the price, even though the US mono version is also pretty cool.
