Advantages: All the songs are amazing, with great depth Disadvantages: it's only 37ish minutes long
Blimey! Am I surprised no one has written about this FANTASTIC album yet! I decided to buy this album following a friends advice, and his saying that Papa Roach followers would like this (it was danradders by the way). And was he right? . . . certainly! This is simply amazing, and I don’t think any amount of superlatives could fully express my continuing support for this band. Anyone who is into nu-metal (Limp Bizkit or Papa Roach style), or ... ...as much as I do.
The first song on this album really sets the tone, and shows how his band is willing to break tradition and include hard rock with keyboard-type mixes within the songs. This certainly works well and you get a feeling that the music is very rich, and has a lot of depth to it. This in turn means that you could listen to the album practically forever and still not get bored of it! I personally have not taken this out of my hi-fi for ...

Advantages: A very good debut album, with 4 hit singles. Disadvantages: Album could have done with some bonus tracks.
LINKIN PARK – HYBRID THEORY
Hybrid Theory? What a strange name for an album. Actually, I have recently found out the reason why the heavy metal band, Linkin Park, used Hybrid Theory as the title of their debut album.
Californian band, Linkin Park (as many may know them) originally started as Xero, but changed their name to Hybrid Theory when Chester joined the band, and recorded their first material in 1996.
After playing in Los Angeles venue ... ...had to change the name Hybrid Theory in order to avoid legal hassles with a band that had the same name. They chose “Linkin Park” as their new name because of a “Lincoln Park” in Santa Monica, which Chester (the bands singer) used to drive by. The rest of the band liked the sound of it, and after a few letter changes, they had their new name, Linkin Park.
Linkin Park’s current line up is:
Mike Shinoda (Emcee/Vocalist)
Chester Bennington (Vocals)

Advantages: Original exciting music Disadvantages: Too short
I bought this album on the strength of the superb single "In the end" which dominated MTV's playlist well over a year ago. I often buy albums on the strength of one song and I'm so often disappointed. This superb album was an exception to that and it still remains one of the six albums that never seem to leave the multiplayer in my car.

Advantages: A great album you'll never get tired of. Disadvantages: Your CD player doesnt see any other CD for weeks
Linkin Park is one of the more recent bands to emerge in the new field of rap/metal along similar lines of Limp Bizkit. However where Limp Bizkit are more thrash metal/rap, Linkin Park have a slightly softer image, and are more rock than metal.
Their style encompasses territory already crossed by the likes of Nine Inch Nails, with a very industrial sound to the music, but freshens the mix with some good sampling, excellent bass tracks, and a mix ... ...of the grammar on that). Part of the success of this mix is that the MC and the Main vocalist are not the same person, and each sticks to their area and compliment each other perfectly. Normally anything that has any rapping in I am not particularly keen on, however this album has not left my car in 6 months!
Every track on the album, is sung with great feeling Chester having a great voice capable of much more than the usual rock “I’ll shout as ...

Advantages: Crawling, brings metal into mainstream Disadvantages: Lyrics, Production, Some really boring tracks
This, my good friends, is pop at it’s most subtle.
I’m not usually one to care about a bands image and ‘coolness’ – if I did then Bryan Adams and Five would certainly not be on my CD rack. However, with some music, image can be important simply because it affects your perception of the music. This is one album where image spills over into music.
Linkin Park are the bridge between pop and metal. In case you didn’t ... ...given a different image. Instead of the pretty, smiley, happy boy bands we have learnt to hate, the producers of Linkin Park have made them a pretty, shouting unhappy I hate my parent’s image. And it has worked, fooling a lot of people into thinking that LP are a genuine ‘real’ band. However, it has also made a lot of music purists shun nu-metal.
Gone slightly off the subject, I think. Right then, onto the album in question – ...

Advantages: Some real competition for the teeny boppers and boy bands of the world Disadvantages: perhaps a little too similar in it's formula
Hybrid Theory is the debut album from metal band Linkin Park, as most of you probably know already. The band's arrival into the music world has been very cleverly timed, as they've been able to follow the success of Limp Bizkit and other new metal talent Papa Roach and ride it straight to the top. This style of metal is becoming highly profitable, but this isn't getting at Linkin Park, as our airwaves are clogged with the sounds of teeny boppers ... ...for us 'moshers' to listen to on the radio.
The music itself takes influence from many genres including hip-hop, metal (obviously), classic rock, coupled with huge amounts of sampling to create a quite distinctive sound. One feature that stands out is that all members of the band sing, which provides an interesting blend of vocals. Linkin Park remind me of various artists, Pitchshifter with their clever use of sampling, Papa Roach - as both just ...

Advantages: Sing along, melodic tracks, the fusion of hip hop and metal Disadvantages: a bit short
Hybrid Theory is the first album from the sensational rock band Linkin Park. It fuses straight up metal with grimy hip-hop beats. I will review every track on this album, providing my opinion.

Starting with a hip-hop(esque) beat, this quickly gets the Linkin Park treatment, as Brad Delson sets his electric guitar loose. Its melodic piano intro is so memorable that, though this album (and song) is a few years old, some of my friends who have never heard of Linkin Park can remember this song. ...eye. Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory. My attention was quickly drawn away from Papa Roach and onto this relatively unheard of band (in England). I heard about Linkin Park from my friend. She started talking about them and got me really interested in them. She lent me the album the next day and I was amazed!
