Advantages: Carefree easy listening, some great tunes
Disadvantages: Very similar to other albums, very samey throughout

...of his then new album, In Between Dreams. So I'm a bit behind a few of you and, to me at least, this is Jack Johnson's first album. Johonson's sound is characterised by accoustic guitar with light drum beats in the background and soft vocals cast across the top. It makes for a very mellow, summery sound. Advantages: Beautiful Chill out music.
Disadvantages: You may not listen to anything else- ever!

...one man with surf board in one hand, guitar in the other. blissfully he sings with delicate ease, his subjects love and life, surfing and relaxing by the beach. An eternally beautiful record, well crafted songs and a far stretch from the morose downbeat music which can be plied in modern day recording. Advantages: very relaxing and enjoyable - an extremely talented songwriter
Disadvantages: No really up-beat tracks

...him ahead of the rest, in relations to other solo-artists. I was slighlty disappointed though, that there was no real variation to his songs (e.g. a more 'dancy' song), but I suppose that is the artist who he is. He obviously loves writing songs which fit the mold of this album, and as a result, everyone that I know loved this album. I would try and suggest some similar artists, but none stand up to Johnsons standards. And - the casing is minimal ... Read review

It seems like I have been waiting for this albumn for what seems like an eternity. Following his previous albumn Brushfire Fairytails I had been longing for Jack to come up with another genius CD. Disadvantages: No real 'standup and let it all hang out' tunes on the CD

...getting a lot of airtime in the UK currently this guy has real musical talent. Not bad for a guy who started his musical career playing tunes in the garden. This is a real summer album for those nights looking at the sunset with a beer and is definitely one of the most original offerings from the large crop of 'singer-songwriters' around these days. Perhaps this is due to Jack's desire to combine toe tapping 'bubble-gum' music with soulful beachy ... Read review
