Advantages: 20 tracks, 2 discs of music, and a number of excellent little numbers. Disadvantages: The album is not great, the excellence of the music is inconsistent.
...Fighters. The album was released in 2005 and consists of twenty tracks spread over two discs of music. The fact that you get over an hour and twenty minutes of music here is really rather excellent; the music that you get isn't always great, you definitely get a lot of it though. £5.47 is the current price at Amazon; fantastic value for money? I think so.
The album is packed full of hard hitting guitar riffs, excellent drum work, and the fantastic ... ...commercial rock songs I've heard in recent years; it possesses the most wonderful of choruses and always when I hear this track I smile.
Tracks such as 'DOA', 'Resolve', and 'Friend of a Friend' are others that stand out from this album for various different reasons. 'Resolve' and 'DOA' are a further two hard hitting rock songs, 'Friend of a Friend' however is an acoustic track that is performed alone by Dave Grohl. The song was actually written ...

Advantages: Couple of strong tracks Disadvantages: Lots of flab
...song is supposed to mean. In order to avoid all that ponsing around I chose this CD to review from my collection as none of the above hurdles apply. You can’t get more basic than grunge metal. Two disc CDs are always dodgy affairs as few bands out there are capable of writing 20-30 good songs in such a short time, which the Fooeys have comfortably fallen short on here. One whole disc of accompanying acoustic tracks is wearing stuff, almost to the ... ...teeing up the big hit in ‘Best of You’. This track is a cracker, summing up all those frustrations toward people that can’t help bullying others from a position of power, trying to take away your passions in life. You can imagine slamming their head into the pavement to the drum beat. DOA (dead on arrival if you ever wondered) is another strong track with a real tempo, again melodic and bassy. Metal lyrics must rhyme so they are limited, and so I ...

Advantages: Every song has it's good parts, most are all amazing. Disadvantages: Segregation of fast and slow is questionable
...separated because if you are in the mood for some hardcore rockin' you are hardly going to want to listen to a song like 'Razor' for example. The first album is more something which you would want to listen to with a large group of friends, and the other is more something for when your on your own, or with a couple of people.
As usual, they start with an absolutely amazing track, 'In Your Honour', this makes an absolutely brilliant start to the ... ...where there is a pause in the middle of the song, and then D.G's vocals come back in. With some artists, pauses are just rubbish, but the foo's have the amount of drama in their songs to pull this off flawlessly. Love it, one of the best songs on the album!
What comes next is an absolute plethora of amazing songs that will take your breath away, after you've listened to them a few times, as some of them take a bit of getting used to. The album has ...

Advantages: Great acoustic album, A lot of it rocks Disadvantages: Material spread a little thin over two cd's
...out from behind the drums in Nirvana he has never looked back and delivered countless rock tunes that are of the highest quality.
The 1995 self-titled debut was a very rough affair, featuring some fine grunge anthems. It was dirty, stripped down and frankly great. Since then the sound of the band has evolved, become more polished and more accessible to all. So the announcement that the latest album would be a double affair was met with great excitement. ... ...Honour' is really two albums in one. The first disc is a rockier affair while the second disc follows an acoustic path. The results are pretty good but not perfect.
So let's address the 'rock album' to start off with.
Things kick off with the title track from the album. A slow build on the intro soon gives way to Grohl's rasping vocals. It set's up the record with its heavy riffs and generally rocks although lyrically there isn't that much to it.

Advantages: Well, it's rather good Disadvantages: A few indeciferable things
...on hungry kids let loose in a candy shop, the other half a sacred, ritualistic cleansing of self, of mind and body... leaving nothing but feeling. "In Your Honor" is an album that rolls you in feeling, deep-fries you in ambience, and serves you on a platter of emotive release. Dave Grohl hands you over the counter in slow motion, speaking, whispering... "You want fries with that?"
Naturally, most of this impossible beauty that has me aghast comes, ... ...disc is what had me in the palm of its cushiony hand, and when you hear it, you'll know why. 'Still,' the disc's opener, is a lush, green meadow of sound, slipping in between those small gaps that you don't know you have in your heart, and makes you feel whole. Atmosphere hasn't been this thick since A Perfect Circle's "Thirteenth Step," an album rife with extensive concentration on mood and feel. Nothing on "Honor" is as abstract as APC, obviously, ...

In your honour
The fifth studio album from the Foo Fighters
Released 2005
Before the review how about a short introduction to the band. The current line up is Dave Grohl singer and guitar, Nate Mendel Bass, Chris Shiflett Guitar and Taylor Hawkins Drums. Dave Grohl ex drummer with Nirvana put together the band that would become today's Foo Fighters in 1995 after the 1994 Kurt Cobain suicide. In early 1995 Grohl and one of his friends from Washington ... ...The album released on Capitol in mid 95 was to go platinum by the end of 96, and remains to many critics the bands the bands most definitive works. 1997 and after some band member shuffling the second album, and the first the band had actually recorded together titled "The colour and the shape" was released. The colour and the shape, was the last Fighters album to be released on Capitol. This was followed by the 1999 offering "There is nothing left ...

Advantages: Double album full of great tracks Disadvantages: Not as good as The Colour and the Shape
The Foo Fighters began in 1995 with some home made recordings of the long haired, ex-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. Ten years on (with a haircut and changes of band members along the way) the band embark on their most ambitious album yet. In Your Honour is a double album, the first featuring catchy, melodic rock songs that the Foo Fighters have become known for and the second featuring acoustic songs. As it was promoted, 'One loud and one not so loud.'
... ...five. It seemed as if In Your Honor would suffer the same fate with weaker songs like Hell and The Last Song but track seven, Free Me, brings the album's momentum back. The next track Resolve is a good song and a likely candidate for the next single. The last two songs aren't bad and do their job.
The acoustic album features many well known musical guests including Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones, Norah Jones and QOTSA's Josh Homme . On the whole ...

Advantages: Good structure of tracks Disadvantages: The accoustic CD
...As the new album, In Your Honor, was released, I found I already liked all songs previously released from taht album and decided to buy it. As with most albums I have bought I found I only liked the songs I already knew, but as time went on I began to like the sound of pretty much all of the tracks.
The better known tracks off the album are 'Best Of You' and 'DOA' and both follow the Foo Fighters 'image', in that you could easily define who they ... ...a good direction for them in my opinion. The sound of Dave Grohl's vocals combined with a soft accoustic sound just didn't seem right.

Advantages: Great value for money, Song for any mood! Disadvantages: You need at least 2 hours spare to listen to the whole thing!
This double album belongs in every music fans collection. With 2 CD's it is worth every penny and i think your ears will agree with me! CD 1 is instantly familiar, with guitar rock and a grunge feel that we are so used to hearing from the foofs. ...could describe these as beautiful in an acoustical sense rather than the love song sense.
The best song on the acoustic song is 'Cold Day in the Sun'; where the lead singer 'Dave Grohl' swaps roles with the drummer 'Taylor Hawkins' (Dave - Drums, Taylor - Guitar and Vocals). ...however let me fill you in on the history of the band. Their lead singer, Dave Grohl was previously the drummer of Nirvana, where the band eventually collapsed due to the tragic "suicide" of Kurt Cobain.
