Advantages: The album is full of highlights. Disadvantages: Some of the tracks are a little lacklustre.
The Kooks formed in 2004 whilst at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music where they were all students. The band were signed instantly to Virgin Records after playing and impressing at Brighton's Free Butt Festival. Their fourteen track 'Inside In/Inside Out' album was consequently released in January 2006, an album from which six Top 40 singles were released. The first time I came to know of The Kooks was when I saw them supporting The Subways at Brixton Academy. ...one day whilst in Sainsbury's, Inside In Inside Out by the Kooks came jumping off the shelf into my basket. Really impressed with the only song I knew from them, She Moves In Her Own Way, I decided this CD should move into my kitchen.
The kitchen is where I listen to most music and it amused me to think I could be Kooking in the kitchen (yes yes, I know, I don't get out enough). But anyway, I couldn't wait to listen to this new purchase so I decided ... ...in her own way…?'

Advantages: Great Mix of Styles, Original, Upbeat Disadvantages: None
Inside In/Inside Out by Brighton originated indie-pop band The Kooks was first released in January 2006; it's still getting airtime on the radio here in the UK over two years later. No less than six of the fourteen tracks on the album achieved top forty status as singles in the UK charts; an impressive achievement for any album let alone a debut. It peaked at number two in the UK charts and did almost as well in both Ireland and Belgium as well.
... ...special and the mild music and agreeable lyrics bear no indication of the funky indie-pop that follows. "See the World" is where The Kooks first grab our attention with their Nirvana-esque slurred lyrics and metallic guitar thrashes. There's nothing overtly special about this track but it's a great slice of indie-metal that leads the album nicely away from its gentle opener despite being in such stark contrast to it.
"Eddie's Gun" is where we first ...

Advantages: Catchy summmery songs, easy to listen to, singers unique voice Disadvantages: Maybe not as lyrically strong as other current bands
The Kooks take their name from a David Bowie album, Hunky Dory, they're a punky band with modern rock flare. They come from the South Coast and are a Brighton based band. Brighton has produced bands like The Electric Soft Parade and British Sea Power, and it's a fantastic night out! They're all aged between 18 and 22 years of age. The band lineup consists of :-
Hugh Harris - Lead Guitar
Luke Pritchard - Vocals, Guitar
Max Rafferty - Bass Guitar
Paul Garred - Drums
The Kooks regard artists such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Stone Roses, The Doors and The Kinks as influences to their music, which is quite obvious on their Britpop/Psychedelic/Eclectic debut album. The debut ...

...2006 with the debut album, Inside In/Inside Out from Brighton based band, The Kooks. The album is full of anthemic summer songs, and the a perfect British festival set in its own right. Inside In/Inside Out kicks up a gear with 'Do You Want To See The World,' which is a strong album track, but nothing exceptional.
'Sofa Song' then follows - One of my personal favourites. This is a great example of what makes the current British music scene brilliant. The band, like every band today, sing with their native accent, and don't try to produce worldwide hits, but songs about the Country they live in. It's ...

Advantages: The summer packed into a CD box! Disadvantages: The odd raw track, and basic lyrics at times.
Overview:
There's been a lot of new bangs springing up, producing quality debut albums over the last 2 years. It's almost like every week you are shelling out more and more money to keep your CD rack up to date with the newest quality. There are some occasions in life where an album just sums up a movement or a way of remembering that ...

...them could become great. But Inside In/ Inside Out by The Kooks stands head and shoulders above them.
These Brighton group have a gift for original songwriting. Some of the tracks will make you nod your head and tap your feet in rhythym, others will make you grab two pens and beat out the accompanying percussion, and yet some others will have you hollering out the words (badly in my case)
I'll be honest, I don't know the band memebrs names (yet!) ... ...of time before they are well known everywhere. On this evidence alone, this band can cut it. The best track on the album (and one of the best tracks I've heard all year!) is Naive. I challenge you to listen to that a few times and NOT singalong (humming counts as singing!!)
Other stand out tracks are She Moves I Her Own Way - very bouncy and fresh, and Sofa Song - well executed and a good album song.

Advantages: Upbeat, tuneful rough garage hippie sound. Some strong songs on the album. Disadvantages: They arent really the sort of band that make massive musical waves, although they are charming.
The Kooks are Luke Pritchard (vocals/guitar), Hugh Harris (guitar), Max Rafferty (bass), and Paul Garred (drums). The band are named after a David Bowie song, but this doesnt at all reflect their style. The band met while at Brighton Music College. Advantages: great listening, very deserving adition to a cd collection Disadvantages: one or two songs are not so great
The first album from the Brighton boys doesn't disappoint, Rock/pop at its best. Its an album Packed with great rock songs and catchy pop undertones. The album starts with a song titles seaside which is a slow melodic number that in no way shape or form sets the tone for the album however it shows how raw and full of emotion lead singer Luke Prichard's voice can be.
