Advantages: some brilliant songs! Disadvantages: a little bit samey.
...their first album 'Inside in Inside Out' is a brilliant debut. The songs are generally quite short, so there are none that drag too much. perfect for driving along to, or just rockin out in your room. It's a good indie rock album filled with good listenable tunes.

2. See The World: a good head bopper. good guitar work, nice and upbeat. 3. Sofa Song: another good tune, but i thoughtthe start was better as it seemed to loose direction near the end. 4. Eddie's Gun: i imagined people dancin around in 50s gear (for some strange reason) whilst listenin to this track. A catchy, jumpy tune with cool guitar ending.
5. Ooh La: this definately gets into your head in a good way. begins with a ...

...Brighton, signed to Virgin, and Inside In/Inside Out is their debut album, released on 23rd Jan 06. Curly haired lead singer '''Luke Pritchard''' has a distinctive voice, and has a bit of a rivalry with Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrel.

Advantages: Great guitar playing and uplifting Disadvantages: A couple of songs not as memorable as others, but you find that with all cds!
After hearing "Naive" on the radio and finding myself singing it all day, I decided it was time to buy The Kooks' debut album "Inside In/Inside Out". After all, "Naive" is an amazingly catchy tune, and I expected more of the same from their album. I was firstly surprised as I expected "Naive" to be the one memorable track and all the others to be fillers but that was not the case. Their songs have power, grit, imagination and anthemic potential, ... ...Luke Prichard. The band prove themselves to be incredibly versatile, with brushes into acoustic ("Seaside", "She Moves in Her Own Way" and "Jackie Big Tits") and hints of Reggae/Ska ("Matchbox"); but this band don't forget to rock out as well (look no further than "See The World" and "Eddie's Gun"). However, despite their broad musical influences, the album is by no means diverse, with all songs linked by strong choruses and memorable lyrics. There ...

...recently released their debut album, Inside in/Inside out which hit number 8 on the album chart in it's first week of release.
It is a shame that they brought out their album on the same day as the overly hyped Arctic Monkeys as this shadowed their under appreciated musical talent. In my opinion it beats the Arctic Monkeys album hands down and deserves much more attention.
The album opens with a short acoustic song "Seaside" that shows a fragile ... ...referring to a past experience in his hometown.
"See The World" then explodes with screaming guitars and develops into an energetic and outstanding track. This is then followed by the sweet melody of "Sofa Song" with a catchy chorus and great riffs.
The next track is the debut single from last summer "Eddie's Gun" which features an original and quirky sound, closely followed by their most recent release "You Don't Love Me", a fast paced, lively ...

Advantages: still 'raw' and tracks are strong throughout Disadvantages: may get repetitive to those who appreciate more variety
...look up to your predecessers: inside in, inside out provea that indie can indeed make that leap into pop without the garish puppy love, the Kooks have miraculously kept their credibility with a strong debut, although they perhaps haven't quite shaken off their 'chick rock' label.
'Seaside' is perhaps the rawest track on the album, with an unmistakebly bedroom feel. If the nasal offerings by Pritchard doesn't quite grate on your ears, then the mood ... ...make a statement starting track.
'Naive', the track that catapulted the Kooks into fame is stand-out for obvious chart success, manages to blend well into the track listings, other songs which may to some put 'Naive' in the dark would be 'Sofa Song' - punchy and with its boyish indie charm which sadly wasn't re-released and remains known only to the fans, and 'Ooh La' - romantic without the warbling. 'Got No Love' is perhaps a slow choice for the ...

Advantages: The perfect soundtrack to the summer Disadvantages: none
This debut album is a brilliant start for the kooks. The unique instantly recognisable voice of the lead singer is a very strong point for this band. The album is full to the brim of simple, catchy pop songs. The brilliant 'you don't love me' is a turn up loud stomp your feet rompous of a track, while 'seaside' is quiet, reflective and made simply beautiful by the vunerability of the vocals. This shows the versatility of this band, and the promise ... ...music industry.
This album is instantly accessible and I loved most of the tracks from the first listen, and they only get better with time.
If you want something to sing along to,dance along to and smile at I would reccomend this. Thye don't really have a band to compare them with at the moment, but you can hear the strokes influence. If you like 'the feeling' ,but want more meat and balls then the kooks are definetly it. ...

Advantages: Rocking out with an acoustic guitar feel - great for singalongs Disadvantages: can a guitarist this young do much else?
Ooh la indeed, what a debut album! Hailing from the good ol' Kingdom of Unitedness, the shabbily dressed Kooks have been the emerging hit of summer 2006.
Whilst the album was released early 2006 it didnt raelly make much dent in the mainstream until later as spring turned to summer. The Kooks sound includes lead singer Luke's unique vocal style. Advantages: the songs are well written and the melodies are addictive. Disadvantages: you wont be able to put this down!
Following the release of just a handfull of outstanding indie albums in 2005, i braced myself for a very dull 2006 untill a friend suggested the kooks 'inside in/inside out'.
I saw it in my local cd shop about a week later and it eventually found its way into my cd collection, although i was a bit wary.. This album is amazing.
I heard Naive first and thought it was a top song then a few weeks later they played Seaside on the radio and I was instantly hooked.
There is not one tune which I didn't like as they are as catchy as the last one.
It is your typical indie type band, guitars, drums and male singers. But they have something different about them. They have lots of edgy riffs in the songs and catchy little lyrics which you can't help but sing ... ...the summer which I don't think you can afford to miss out on.
This is their first album I think and it definetly seems to set a good path for another album in the future. They are a new raw talent which doesn't come round very often. I think if you're a fan of indie type bands..maybe snow patrol or athlete then you would like this.
I would really recommend that you listen to Naive if you are unsure about purchasing this top specimen as it definetly ...

Advantages: 14 tracks of pure 2006 summer anthems! Disadvantages: One or two less interesting songs
I first heard this band in early 2006, when they released their first single 'You Don't Love Me'. Its one of the more thrashy, angst-ridden tracks on the album, and you should maybe not judge the whole album on this track (although in my opinion it is still fantastic!)
Songs on the album vary from the delicate acoustic summery sing-alongs like 'Seaside', to the ultra funky, arms flailing, athems of this year 'Matchbox' and 'Naive'. This band take ... ...but those heard of them?! Not me! But, if i was to give a more well-known likeness to this band for you to relate to, i'd say they have elements of Jack Johnson, a touch of Kings of Leon, and the catchy athemic bits of the subways.
There are a few weaker songs on the album, like any album has! But even those are really not that bad as far as album fillers go! To draw to a conclusion, i can see this band being THE band of 2006, and this album is ...

...this music, with their album inside in/inside out proving to be one of the summers must have albums.
I'll just scan through a few of the songs on the album here;
Eddies Gun
Have to describe this as a classic driving along to song, a very fast paced song (only 2:14 min). The lyrics are very strong with this song and are accompanied with superb guitar works.
I want you back
Excellent song here, compared to other songs in the album this is a very ... ...to categorise it as depressing yet it is still mint and gets better each time you listen to it.
If Only
This track never stops and never takes time for a breath. Incredibly fast with lots of guitars and stuff banging along throughout it.
Jackie big tits
A kind of standard quality song on this album this song just seems to flow, not as fast paced as other songs but quite an uplifting song.
Matchbox
Not as head banging as the other songs but ...
