Into the Wood is probably one of Sondheim's more accessible musicals. From the title, a non-Sondheim showgoer or listener would probably think that this is a lovely, cute, nursery rhyme style show. It is quite the contrary. Well I don't know how much I can write on this, other than I really really love this show! Check out the review on the show...
The songs and tracks are superb and each one has it's own unique quality.
The opening, a sound that is repeated with impunity throughout the score constantly updating the audience as to what's going on.
I also love the tracks 'Agony' which highlights the plight of the two Princes who are both chasing different women and ... ...secure their loves!
There is a beutiful ballad 'Children will listen' and a rousing repeat from the Baker and Cinderella, sang to young Jack and Red Riding Hood.
The songs sound lfantastic loud or quiet and you will be huming them constantly after listenin to this CD.
As before it's not my place to descrie all the track, length of time and scoring, but it is just left to me to say, I would buy this and listen to this over and over and have done.
