This album is such an amazing album. When I heard The Man Who I thought that they would never match that, but they have bettered it!
Sing:
The 1st single, you know it. A nice opener, with it's banjo.
Dear Diary:
This is a very mellow track, but very beautiful. On the second verse, a wintery organ comes in and it takes you back to the Xmas snow. Ahh! Beautiful.
Side:
This is one of the best tracks on the album. Much faster than anything else. ... ...greener on the other side/ baby's got a new car that you wanna drive/ our time is running out you want to stay alive" bring back memories of the linkage in the verse of Driftwood. Already you'll get the idea that this album is something special.
Pipe Dreams:
Very nice. Reminds me a bit of Spies by Coldplay. It's a good strong song.
Flowers In The Window:
Wow! This is amazing! A tinky piano, the banjo...heaven! It's good to have a new classic! ...

Oh dear. 'All I want to do is rock' proclaimed Travis on their debut album 'Good feeling'. Short memories indeed. If you're after 'The man who' part 2 then you've got it. However those who'd hoped the singles 'Coming around' and 'Sing' were advanced leanings back toward the aforementioned debut are set to be sadly disappointed. Its all very nice, in a background music dinner-party type way, but lacks a great deal of substance. The worst offenders ... ...to maintain any repeated interest. 'Humpty dumpty love song' however makes a late attempt to offer a glimmer of light in Travis' future. Synth laden and shrouded in glorious softly strummed electric guitar it shows Fran Healy still can occasionally cut it. Other highlights are the comparatively powerful 'Side' and 'Follow the light' and the achingly chiming 'Afterglow' (Teenage fanclub a la 'Grand Prix' except the fannies did it, and continue to ...

Advantages: The banjo Disadvantages: slightly monotonous
The Invisible Band marks no major change in direction for Travis but this is no bad thing .This is such a natural, instantly lovable and thoroughly unforced record, it seems thoroughly churlish to knock it. The opening "Sing" sounds like since their inception, all Travis have been missing is a banjo; the florid "Flowers In The Window" harks back to McCartney's finest Beatles compositions; and the synth-led "The Humpty Dumpty Love Song" lays Travis' ...

Advantages: Some very good songs Disadvantages: Lyrics can be weak.
The Invisible Band is Travis' third album which does contain some good songs but it also has some songs which have weak and repetitive lyrics. However there are the odd songs which are very good. The first song, which has been realesed is Sing. The lyrics are very poor for this song but the music itself is very good. Dear diary is track 2 and is not a bad song.Track 3 is Side which i think is one of the best songs on the album. The lyrics are better ... ...again not bad but a little weak. Track 5 is Flowers in the window. This is another song that is one of the best on the whole album. The Cage is track 6 which is don't particularly like. Track 7 is Safe which is ok but nothing special. Track 8 is Follow the light which is not bad, quite a good tune. Track 9 Last train is ok but a little weak and the next two songs i think are poor. (Afterglow and Indefinitely). The last song The Humpty Dumpty Love ...

Advantages: It is more than one-dimensional Disadvantages: Some songs are very slow, such as 'The Cage'
...The Man Who and The Invisible band. Each are quite different for a range of reasons. Good Feeling is centred more on soft rock, The Man Who on guitar pop and The Invisible Band on moody harmonies and lies somewhere between Good Feeling and The Man Who in its musical style. The Invisible Band is undoubtably a great album, it has fine anthums such as 'sing', 'flowers in the window' and 'side' but it also has a darker, deeper and more personal message ... ...'The Humpty Dumpty Love Song' which are both fantastic. All in all a great well-rounded album, if you like either of there previous albums you will love this and if you know what you will expect from Travis you will enjoy this but if you want something fast-paced and energy-filled then look elsewhere. This is my favorite of their three albums as it is more mature and shows the mixture of festival anthems and more personal, heart-felt songs. I enjoyed ...

Advantages: clever lyrics, banjo/piano harmonies, broad range of song themes Disadvantages: too short
I bought this album because "The Man Who" monopolised my cd player for most of last year. "Invisible Band" is a superb album - every track has meaning and there is a broad range of emotions, from the power of being in love to the pain of betrayal.
They've introduced a banjo on some of the tracks, which works really well. 'Sing' and 'Flowers in the window' are feelgood tracks, definitely designed for singing along. At the opposite end of the scale ...

Advantages: Pleasing to the ear Disadvantages: Too mellow overall
...no surprise to see ‘The Invisible Band’ is a continuation of this theme. There are no loud rock tunes. Nothing ventures past jolly feel-good melodies. It would have been nice to have seen Travis show their more energetic side but as long as tracks like 'Side' and 'Flowers In The Window' are produced, I think I can manage. The album will grow on you and I’m sure that in a few months people will be humming most of the tracks off this ...
