Advantages: Good extreme metal moments, combined with some strong radio-friendly tunes. Disadvantages: Silly bloody lyrics.
...satisfying album. Instead, the 18-legged Iowa Hate Machine decided to release an album that ups the ante considerably. It’s faster and heavier in place than the last album, but also more measured in places.
“[515]” is first up; there’s not much to say here, it’s a minute of screaming set to a dull electronic throb. It goes on for just long enough that, as you reach for the skip button on your CD player, the next track ...

Advantages: Some excellent songs, should satisfy most fans Disadvantages: Too many rap songs, too many 'hip' rhymes
Iowa is, in the world of nu-metal, probably the most anticipated album of the entire year. Slipknot’s second, self-titled album, released in 1999 was a huge success and an important moment in rock history. This is not because of Slipknot’s apparently shocking stage behaviour, involving the smelling of decomposing birds to induce vomiting, the punching of their own fans, the coin toss to decide whether the clown mask or the gas mask gets ...

...and they all come from Iowa in America.
The Album:
Well since their last album slipknot really have improved. In this album there is actual singing Aswell as plenty of screaming, which is a definite improvement on the last album! and the tracks actual seem to have a half decent beat to them. Compared to the last album the members all play the music synchronised together, and they don’t just all make as much noise as possible.
All the ...

Advantages: Heavy, Hardcore, Lyrics inside cover, Slipknot Disadvantages: Explicit Content, Freaky Intro, Some poor parts
Although I don't usually buy albums this...'freakish', this album had been recommended by all my friends. After putting the cd into the drive, I started to regret buying the disc, men making strange shouts and grunts wasn't my idea of music, but luckily the next track was People = Sh*t, which is a great song, it's let down a little by the chorus, it's more shouting than music. After that, it's disasterpiece, it conforms to Slipknot's usual standard ...

Advantages: Would probably shock your mother / neighbours Disadvantages: Not very thought provoking, you can't dance to it.
...the Heretic Anthem, from the Iowa album, and the lyrics were, in fact "six six six" - which I guess is a devil reference (not very subtle eh?)
I've also learned more about the roles of each band member, but still fail to see why 3 percussionists couldn't make a better job on what seemed to me to be a very basic piece of music.
I apologise for not writing more about the music itself. You know, a detailed review of the album, and so on. That's ...

...Slipknot for a year before Iowa came out. I got into them through their light song Wait and Bleed (a testament to Corey’s true vocal ability). After buying the album, I realised that Wait and Bleed was unique to Slipknot in its radio-friendly sound, and I left the album in a forgotten corner of my room, with the intention to never listen to it again. To me, it was just shouting. No tune. No reason to be popular, and I began to wonder what it was that ...

Advantages: Truly overawwing sound, they blow you away Disadvantages: Ummmmmmmmmmm.........
I became a Slipiknot about a year ago and have been following them ever since. The only thing which frustrated me about them was their lack of material. Two albums have been released as Slipknot but only the second had the current line up. Therefore, their live sets were always really short because they had nothing to play!
With 'Iowa' they have done something very hard to do on a second album (becasue it is really only their second) they have kept ...

Advantages: Corey's vocals Disadvantages: slightly too psycho at times
Slipknot - the Kings Of Metal (all nine of ’em) have finally released the long-awaited follow up to ‘Slipknot’. And ‘Iowa’ will not disappoint. As long as you like ear-splitting, blood curdling, nerve shattering, hair raising metal, that is. Oh, and goats are optional, in case you were wondering.
Heavy as f**k would be a good description for ‘Iowa’ – the band, along with legendary producer Ross Robinson ...

Advantages: Corey's lyrics, Excellent Music Disadvantages: may offend some..?
When Slipknot emerged with their mysterious masks and offensive ways the world seemed to be at their feet, everyone adored Slipknot, they released this album, Iowa, in my opinion at the peek of their career, this is Slipknot at their best. The lyrics are not stupid and silly regardless of what other reviews say, i mean if the reviewer hasn't experienced pain or hurt in their life then i see no reason for them to be drawn to music of this nature, Corey's ...

Advantages: A Few good songs, Shows off slipknot to their full potential Disadvantages: Not their best album to have been released, shows that old is better than new, fans may be disapointed
First of all, lets give u the insight into this 9 piece iowan band. they started in a small town in 1995 and released 2 albums, slipknot and mate feed kill and repeat. Maybe you should check them out before you go buying this as it shows off the classic slipknot that most ppl love. When i first saw this si wos attracted by the outstanding front cover design which could lead most shoppers eyes towards it, mainly because it has one focus point which ...

Advantages: Good drumming, powerful sound Disadvantages: SOme songs are cheesy
I bought Iowa by Slipknot as soon as it came out cause i wanted to know if it was gonna be as good as their first cd. The album starts off with the usual weird intro and then launches into the best song on the cd, people=shit, this song is typical slipknot because it has fast drumming and a great guitar riff, the vocals don't really add much but overall it is a great song, then as the album went on i started to notice how many sing along bits and catchy ...

Advantages: Brilliant hate-filled music Disadvantages: slightly linear
Slipknot, showing the world that hate and anger are brilliant subjects for writing songs.
Slipknot has a lot of members, and you can hear them all in this album, each doing their bit to contribute to the overall (amazing) sound produced. You gotta love it.
The anger displayed isn't discriminating at all, as the hate is directed at everybody (People = Shit). The overall sound is sinister and destructive, and makes you feel that the band are probably ...

Advantages: Great music, cool inlay Disadvantages: None
The 18 legged hate crew have yet to really appeal to me (except for a few songs) Until now.
Their new album, entitled "Iowa" (where the band were formed) is sensational.
Each track, just like the inlay of the cd, is a complete work of art.
Corey's voice is amazing, combining guttoral shouts with mellow vocal skills.
I recently saw Slipknot at Ozzfest, where they played some of their new stuff, off their then un-released "Iowa"
I could tell ...
