Searing like dead heat its huge organ drenched beginning is gradually torn apart by the Edge's sprinkling guitar inflections. I first heard 'The Joshua Tree' a few years ago at my mates house, who's dad was playing it when i went to see her and straight away i loved it and straight away i needed it. I eventually bought the album on C.D from a car boot sale for an amazing £3 (that's what i call a bargain). ...the subject at hand. The Joshua Tree starts with... Where The Streets Have No Name mixes Edge's excellent guitar, Bono's heartfelt vocals and tremendous lyrics and creates the amzing song we all know today. Sends a shiver up my spine every time. Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For is an easy to sing-along to song, except in the parts where Bono hits all the emotional notes with that voice of his. Disadvantages: A lotb of people are either 80s or 90s U2people,so not everyone will appreciate it.

Undoubtedly the album that pushed U2 into the limelight, however I cannot class a single album as my favourite, is their best tracks are scattered across their career. Spanning ballad and light rock, listening to this album makes you realised just how good U2 are and the fact that they have managed to retain this level of quality all these years is amazing! The Joshua Tree seems to be the album which most people have heard about. Released as a follow up to The Unforgettable Fire it was their biggest selling album, going platinum within 48 hours of its release. The album starts off with Where the streets have no name, which is a perfect start to an album. It was hard for me to believe that this was U2's sixth album, being born in 1989, I only came to appreciate it recently when I properly got into music. It's just that U2 have managed to get such a new, fresh and interesting sound on this album that I think no bands have managed to emulate. ...didn't change until 1987 when Joshua Tree was launched, it was a big seller and still is today. It features some of their greatest tracks including With or Without you, a very religious and moving song. Where the streets have no name about the state of Africa and I Still Havent Found What Im Looking For, still played very regularly on most big radio stations.
