...BON JOVI were back with keep the faith their fifth studio album The 1990s heralded the rise of grunge, in particular bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam leading the way and bringing their music to the fore. This desperate time for classic rock saw the demise in sales figures and popularity if not existence of many of Bon Jovis' peers. Bands such as Motley Crue, Ratt, Poison, Wasp, Europe etc all but disappeared, where as bands like, Kiss, AC/DC, Def ... ...songs like Dry County, and Keep the Faith which leaned heavily on a more political viewpoint. Of course there were the Bon Jovi standards "In These Arms" and I'll Sleep When I'm Dead being notable examples, but even these were so much more than simply going through the motions, they were well crafted rock songs with a superior feel to them. On this record Bon Jovi completely surpassed their supposed hair rock contemporaries (Poison, Warrant etc). ...

As some of you will already know, I am a huge fan of Bon Jovi. I've wondered whether to review all of their albums at various points, but today, I decided it was time: I'm going to share with you my favourite Bon Jovi album, the one that got me hooked; 'Keep The Faith'. Now, favourites are an odd thing. Most people, when asked what is their favourite album, song, or even band, will wriggle out of the question, or talk themselves out of a decision. ... ...me, the answers are provided by this album.
'Keep The Faith' was released in 1992, after a rather long hiatus for Bon Jovi. The band had done two world tours back to back to support 'Slippery When Wet' (1986) and 'New Jersey' (1988), and they were burned out. After 237 shows in 26 countries, in 16 months, without saying goodbye, they simply walked off in five different directions. During the next few years, the press largely reported this as the ...

Advantages: Some corkers, especially Dry County Disadvantages: Some very weak tracks
After years without a new studio album, Bon Jovi patched up their differences and set about recording a new kind of Bon Jovi album. Though the consistency of tracks is nowhere near that of 'Slippery When Wet' or 'New Jersey', individual songs stand out above the rest, and make up for this. Songs like 'Dry County' come along once on a while and represent the pinnacle of a band's writing. Ok, so it's long, but the substance is there for all to see. ... ...still write songs with mass appeal. However, the less said about 'Fear' and 'A Little Bit of Soul' the better.
A different kind of album? yes. A better kind of album? Not yet - not many people get things just right when they change...look to These Days for a better post 'New Jersey' effort. ...

...Four good songs on it. Keep the faith is the best album for any who wants to listen to Bonjovi and it isnt that hard either. The reason i think this is a good album to write about, is that the lyrics are superb and it brings out the talent in Bonjovi. I got this album when it first came out in '92' it was brought for a present.
The songs that are the best have to be 'Keep the faith', 'Dry county'' and 'I'll sleep when i'm dead'.My point is if you ...

Keep the Faith is a different kind of album to what Bon JOvi normally produce. I cant put my finger on it, but the band seems to be more religious, or something. Oh well- doesn't matter anyway
There are a variety of good songs on the album. "Keep the Faith" itself is now cemented in Bon Jovi fokelore and "sleep when i'm dead" was, as the band themselves admitted, their theme tune of touring in the early nineties.
Possibly the heavist Bon Jovi tune ... ...is actually a great song and coupled with "Bed of Roses", the main ballad on the album, there is the basis for a great album. There are a few weak links but these do little to take away from the overall good impression that the album gives off. Not bad at all ...

Advantages: One of the best CD's ever. Disadvantages: None
'Keep the faith' is a must have CD for any rock fan regardless of whether they appreciate Bon Jovi or not. I base this comment purely upon the fact that this CD contains several classic hits that contain lyrics that poets would be proud of and musical accompaniment of the highest standard possible.
The tracks I am talking about are 'Bed of roses', 'Dry county', 'In these arms', 'I'll sleep when I'm dead' and 'Keep the faith'. In fact all 13 of the ...

Advantages: Blah Disadvantages: just not what you'd expect. In the least.
...of a few catchy tunes, Keep The Faith isn't up to BJ standard. Overly religious and lyrically everything but strong, it just isn't what you'd want from an album of theirs. Dry County is downright boring and depressing, "If I Was Your Mother" rediculous, and most of it overbearing on the religious side, this was a dissapointment to buy. Bed of Roses has a bit of romance, but honestly, Jon took a dive off his pedestal when singing about being with ... ...wife so much?!). Bah humbug.
