...against itself 2. Kid A It seems strange but the feeling that comes to mind is listening to Kate Bush. Listen back to The Sensual World and The Hounds of Love and see what I mean. A fragile twilight drifting to sleep song. 3. The National Anthem This starts off with a stonker of a bass line which then drives the song onwards to Yorke pleading his lyrics. Classic Radiohead until it slips into the chaos that is free form jazz. A discordant noise ...

This gently lopes along subtly pulling you in and with it until you drown in bliss. 5. Treefingers Definite ambient exposure here from The Orb, Aphex Twin and Eno. If you like ambient – superb otherwise dull. 6. Opimistic Stylistically, this probably fits somewhere ...

Amazingly experimental

Advantages: Innovative, groundbreaking, a real breakthrough for Radiohead.
Disadvantages: Takes a while to get over the shock.

...for something completely different. Kid A is electronic, experimental and completely dissimilar to everything that Radiohead have ever done before. Radiohead support Napster, so just listen to some of the tracks on this list to see what I mean: Everything in its Right Place Ideoteque The National Anthem Motion Picture Soundtrack Kid A Where's the guitar!? I hear you cry. What's all that weird moaning and keyboards!? Radiohead have one something ...
...Successfully incorporate electronic music into a real band. It's a more political, more experimental Radiohead that maintains exactly the feeling of the other songs despite the radical changes. Radiohead have become an extremely active left wing band of late, and their website links to the independent media centre in prague (independent media centres show the truth about leftist issues. In this case it was the battle of Prague during the anti capitalist ...

...consequences about human life. With KID A, is the same technology to speak, let to express itself through the annulment of the musician's personality in the creative process of machines. "Everything in it's right place", declaims the title of the songs that opens KID A, but nothing seems to be as before. In THE NATIONAL ANTHEM", Thom waits over a minute to sing, to perform few words and disappear, before the intrusion of jazz winds. The song "in ...

With OPTIMISTIC and IN LIMBO seems strange to find a chorus, something that in joint with the stanza reaches the complexity of later Beatles. Also IDIOTEQUE undergoes a loud aggression that cut it into little rhythmical strips, while voice separates in the audio channels. In few ...

...surprise that their fourth album, Kid A, is even more experimental, owing a debt to the studio-born soundscapes of Brian Eno, Aphex Twin and even later Talk Talk. Kid A is an album that would not sound out of place on the Warp Records roster, as keyboards, sequencers and electronic effects take the place of guitars on most tracks (particularly unusual for a band that boasts three guitarists). In fact, this is an album that succeeds without rock's ...

Radiohead have evolved

Advantages: This is a superb album
Disadvantages: None

...More form than song, Kid A is a musical journey through the imagination (or Thom Yorke's imagination anyway). The lyrics seem almost randomly constructed, nonsense put together in a way that resonates to leaves a familiar, if forboding, recognition. This is like a musical interpretation of abstract art and is far, far away indeed from the guitar and melody based style of The Bends and it's predecessor Pablo Honey. Kid A, class A

Advantages: Excellent vocals, good variety, original style.
Disadvantages: Very acquired taste and only ten tracks

...Radiohead fan, I naturally purchased Kid A immediately upon release. I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Although their style has progressed somewhat since ok computer, they still remain the top notch band they always have been. Radiohead never will be one of the biggest bands in the world as they are such an acquired taste, but in my opinion the sound they make is original and cannot be copied. However, they will always be one of the biggest ...
...long continually changing track. Kid A focuses more around instrumentation than voice. Track 8, "idioteque", appears to be an attempt to ridicule modern dance music, but is quite a good track in itself. Track 3, "The National Anthem", reverts back to the style of Ok Computer, while track 6, "optimistic", goes even further back to the days of The Bends. Tracklist: 1. Everything in its right place - Fantastic opener with a gradual build up throughout. ...

Advantages: Not Like The Others

When I first got this album I had to make sure it was Radiohead, this was because it is so different to anything they have done before. SUPERB, sums the album up in one word. I can really say anything else about it. If you like Radiohead go out and get it, You will like it. If you don't like Radiohead, it is so different you will like it. best album of the year

Advantages: different

OK, so this album has been reviewed to death, but I must say I love it. The production is superb and it sounds great whether listening to it on headphones or in a surround sound environment. The first two tracks, particularly, blew me away. When I first played "Everything In It's Right Place" on my new discman, I thought that there was a short in the headphone wiring. In the beginning of the song Thom's sampled voice stutters and finally fizzles ...
...had me going nuts trying to find a short in my wire. The track "Kid A" really pushes the limits of any sound system. When I played it on my fairly good surround sound stereo, the surround speakers sounded like they were fuzzing out due to a massive frequency overload. I scrambled to my stereo, adjusting equalizers, volume, checking speakers to make sure that they were not blown. I was frantic. Through all manner of tweaking, I finally figured out ...

Gorgeous

Advantages: A brand new direction for Radiohead
Disadvantages: Not particularly commercial

This album is a mile away from OK computer, The Bends and Pablo Honey. If you ever laid your hands on the Airbag / how am I driving? EP then you will probably recognise the sound a little better. What is really astonishing is that Radiohead (of all people) have started using techno in their tracks. Its a brilliant, beautiful album: not as commercial as in the past, but Radiohead don't need to be commercial anymore! Some of the sounds reminded me ...
...of some truly bizarre sounds. It seems that Radiohead have decided that now they have achieved commercial success, they are willing to put this on the line in order to produce a really experimental album. Most of the tracks are great, though. My favorite at the moment is "How to disappear completely" which is really great. Its a landmark album, and has been hailed as the destruction of pop. Its worth buying. ...

Rhythm and Blues??

Advantages: Experimental in rhythm and atmosphere
Disadvantages: Rhythm alone is not enough

The decision to release no singles from Kid-A seems to hark back to the dinosaurs of rock though it hasn't stopped radio stations falling over themselves to play material from the album. It means the whole body of work will be aired simultaneously as DJ's pick and choose what they want to play. The style of the album is really experimental. Sometimes it feels as though the songs aren't actually complete, just patterns and textures. It leaves me feeling a little empty, intentionally. Still Radiohead are not renown for being cheerful Although I'm ...

Radiohead in my head

Advantages: New style Radiohead
Disadvantages: needs listening to a couple of times

Kid A is not easy on non-Radiohead fans, but it has some breathtaking tracks that make it a worthwhile buy for fans and newcomers alike. In this new project the band have assembled an eclectic range of lyics, harmonies, sounds and themes - which come together to form a really excellent new album. There are the familiar haunting, soul searching, difficult and sometimes depressingly melodramatic lyrics but they are mixed with a fresh new approach and ...
...The vocals in "Everything in Its Right Place" and electronic beats and harmonies in "Treefingers" and "Idioteque are simply brilliant. The title track “Kid A” is pure vintage Radiohead but my favourite track has to be “Morning Bell”. If you’re unsure, new to the band then rent the album from a record library or loan from a friend. For Radiohead-fans….what are you waiting for ? this is a brilliant album ranking alongside ‘OK Computer’ go get it and ...

...mean that I don't like Kid A though. Far from it. Initially this album is pretty hard to get into, and I may have given up on it had it not been by Radiohead. I'm pretty glad I stuck with it though, as most of the tracks are quality. In fact, there is only one (Treefingers) that I skip past on a regular basis. Not For Kids

Advantages: Experimental
Disadvantages: I think it will be very hard to get into

Kid A by Radiohead is a slight departure from what teeny-boppers may think of the band. First we must ask ourselves "How do you follow OK Computer?" This is the way. And the ONLY way I believe. This album was so hyped up it is unbelieveable and I think that Radiohead handled the release quite well by simply slipping it onto the shelves without too much publicity. The album is very different from the indie favourite "Creep" or "The Bends" and to ...
...Being a huge Radiohead fan from the release of The Bends back in 1996 (I think) I was quite interested in the new release, but I am taking time to adjust to it. Anyone looking for an easy listen should steer well clear of this, on the flip side - anyone looking for a piece of experimental music should leave right now to get it. It's worth a listen, but you may not like it. ...
