Advantages: Blind, All Tracks -1, Heavy, Classic Korn, Not Commercial, Lyrically Brilliant Disadvantages: Helmet In The Bush
Korn were formed in 1990, this album was released in 1994. the band consists of 5 members, Johnathan Davis, Head, Munky, Fieldy And David. The Bakersfield band were the ones that helped Limp Bizkit to their fame in 1997. This is actually Korns 2nd second album as they released one way back in 1990, but tracks are very rare to find and this has never been released.
A short overview of the band there, this album is a Korn classic. Many people like ...

Advantages: This is one of the cds that invented nu-metal. First listen it is "good", from then on it's jaw dropping Disadvantages: It's perhaps less accessible than korn's other albums
...album, the like of which korn have never really managed to produce properly again. There are absolutely no fillers on this album, it does not fade out after the legendary "blind", nor does John Davies show any sign of letting up as he produces the insane sounds that make up the chorus of "ball tongue" - which is where we are first properly introduced to the unique korn bass sound - this consists of rhythms slapped unusually fast at ridiculously low ...

Advantages: fabulous mixture of passion, emotion and anger Disadvantages: none
I have all four Korn album's, and I think that in many ways this is their best. Probably the heaviest album, it all kicks off with the low slung, grinding riff of 'Blind'. From here on classic songs just pile up. Jonathan davis deals with issues many artists would shy from, and his lyrics are shockingly powerful without being perverse or overly controversial. 'Clown' fires up with its powerful line 'Throw your hate at me with all your might, hit me ...

Advantages: Some good songs Disadvantages: Some disturbing material covered
Korn’s first album has some of what I regard as their best songs on. Tracks like Blind, Predictable, Shoots and Ladders for example. Unfortunately there are also plenty of songs of dubious quality on the album. Don’t get me wrong – they’re not dire, but compared to the quality of songs across some of the other albums, Issues for example, it’s disappointing (Depending on the order you buy the albums in I suppose). Despite the up and down quality of ...

...albums. the way in which korn build up their anger and hate and fear and produce cracking songs such as 'blind' and 'ball tongue', though, korn will always be remembered for it's best song, and a rock anthem, 'faget', telling the story of jonathon davis when he was at school. perhaps i like this album because i can relate to it's themes, having experienced many myself, but even still, for those of you who are popular, it gives an inside view of what ...

Advantages: Heavy, dark and memorable Disadvantages: Some people may not appreciate the lyrical content
Korn's self titled debut album released in 1994, can easily be heralded as one of the most inspirational albums of all time. In fact, it is arguable the album is so good that the band have spent the rest of their career trying to make anything half as credible. Although it is labelled as the first nu-metal album, in retrospect there is very little than can be compared to future bands that have fallen into the genre. The angst and emotion on display ...

Advantages: Their best album in my opinion, really heavy and flows together. Disadvantages: May be hard to get into first time, but that is probably the point of the album
...class this as my top KoRn album, it's a classic especially as it's their first album and a must for any KoRn fan.
After saying all that I would say it is not a very accessible album, and definitely takes a few listens. I'm not sure how much this would appeal to fans of the newer stuff because as I've said it's completely different style of music and very unique. The style is very heavy and slow and an eerie sort of singing.
It's one of those albums ...

...it more commercially acceptable but Korn gave us the raw materials. It's loud, heavy and agressive. From Jonathon Davis' warcry of "Are you ready?" you know that if you aren't strapped down, you are in severe danger of causing spontaneous moshpits.
Korn gave us a remedy to the late and somewhat bloated Seattle scene and the album has aged well, "Blind" being akin to "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in its ability to always get a crowd moving. Yes, Korn ...

This album is the reason I started listening to Metal, and made me appreciate it so much more. Vocalist Jonathan Davis, really knows how to get your attention, and make you feel the pain he went through as a child.
Fast heavy progressive metal, with vocals that will blow your mind.
The lyrics are very deep, and covers a few struggles most teenagers has to go through in life.
There's even been said that this album saved people's lives...

...opinion of korns first album korn is that it is the best they they have done so far. It expresses me in so many ways that it is hard to put into words. Every song hit so close to home It made me realize that there are other people out there that feel the same way i do. The people that should buy this product are those that are needing to express thereselves but have no way of doing so. The negative thing about it is that the lycic are not all parental ...

Advantages: Something different, a very unique band Disadvantages: None
...many people had heard of Korn in the UK as I had been listening to them since they started and bought this album to start off my Korn obsession. Now they are massive amongst heavy music circles! Korn are the real originators of nu-metal and their extremely unique style of music has an attraction to it for any hard music fan. Korn are probably the best band around today as they always have something different to offer and everything they have done ...

When KoRn were formed back in 1990, they had no clue that they would become the metal legends they are seen as today. This untitled album is a fantastic demonstration of why they have acheived this desirable status.
'KoRn' is non stop metal - from 'blind' to 'divine', from 'faget' to the controversial 'shoots and ladders' (how the hell they make nursery rhymes sound that good I'll never know).
This album is important for all fans of metal as it ...

Korn kickes ass, I don’t care what anyone says. If I had to describe Korn in one word and on word only, there is not the slightest bit of doubt at all that that word I would use to describe Korn (The kick ass thing, remember), Anway, the word would most certainly be “HARDCORE”, or if I was aloud two word then they would be something like “Totally hardcore” or maybe even “Kick ass hardcore” OK that’s like three words but nevermind, what does it matter ...
