    Advantages Advantages A great story of doomed love, clever narrative, careful mise-en-scene

    Le Jour se Leve is an excellent example of a film which has dated in terms other than its special effects or acting styles. In this age when we labour under the tyranny of political correctness, it's become a very 'difficult' film. Perhaps the easiest way to read it is as a political snapshot of another, even darker time. The film opens with a murder. Raised voices behind a closed door. A gunshot. A man staggers out and dies on a landing. Below, a blind man is confused by the noises.
