He's being hailed as the new big thing in the UK, and after hearing Mika's Grace Kelly as it stormed through the charts to the top, I jumped at the first chance to listen to the album.
At first, it didn't meet my high expectations with its slightly Scissor Sisters-esque sound ('Love Today') and almost too-poppy tracks ('Lollipop'), but with second listens, they're already growing on me. It wasn't until about half way through that I discovered it ... ...(You Are Beautiful)', 'Billy Brown' and 'Stuck In The Middle'. It ends with a bonus track, 'Ring Ring', which continues the vibe that screams 'LISTEN TO ME OVER AND OVER' at you - and I certainly have no problems obliging.
However, the album certainly has its weak points. It slows down slightly for a funky bassline in 'Relax (Take It Easy)', but unfortunately, despite the good beats, it's the chorus that puts me off wanting to listen to it more. ...

I actually bought this CD for my husband as a Christmas present and to be honest, I think I really bought it so I could listen to it myself!!
This album has something on it for EVERYONE!. My taste in music is not very broad to be honest but this really has some very memorable tracks that I can listen to over and over again. I'll talk about each track and what I thought of them:
1. Grace Kelly - this was what actually made me remember who Mika was ... ...by the album. It's very cool to sing-along-to.
2. Lollipop - this is very fun and upbeat and again, you can listen to this over and over!
3. My Interpretation - I can't remember much about this one but it's probably been over-taken a bit by the fact other songs are stronger on this album 4. Love Today - I like this one.
5. Relax, Take It Easy - I REALLY like this one.
6. Any Other World - I think this is lyrically the best song ever on this or ...

...and feel good album.
Life in Cartoon Motion is Mika first album. With a very different themed cover to a lot of albums, it portrays the world that Mika is actually living in, a cartoon world, an eccentric place, in which I believe a lot of people would like to be. A place where everything is one big party, and nobody cares about a thing.
The album itself consists of 11 tracks, and a variation of different types of music. Majority of the songs have ... ...you need to live your life whilst you are single because when you fall in love, you are only going to get let down.
My Interpretation
I liked the beginning of this track, a lot mellower than majority of them with a lot more instrumental in the song. He actually sings this in quite a normally voice. Its basically referring to that he doesn't care if someone talks to him again.

I do not think I would be exaddurating if I said this could possibly be the best CD I have bought this year! Evry single song is practically unique and has its own melodies and rhythms. They are also song about irregular topics; for example, Billy Brown is about a man who turns homosexual. Mika has an extraordinary voice which can reach the intensity of the high notes without straining but can also determine the tune with his personality. The last ... ...Mika could be up with the likes of Mr Mercury with his talent. This CD takes your breath away when you listen to it. Unlike other artists, none of the songs on this CD have the same melodie, beat or otherwise, They are all completely different, unique songs. Also, he is not alike with a lot of other artists. While having seemingly appeared from nowhere to having a blossoming musical career, Mika's back story of hardships and a determined mindset not to alter his music for the sake of popularity almost, in my opinion, make him a true musical artist before even listening to his album. However this is an album that does not disappoint, a diverse combination of upbeat tunes, moving lyrics and a great vocal range makes this an album worth buying. With songs ... ...connections to his songs with thoughtful lyrics, while also making you feel like dancing. I found that with these strengths made it the perfect album to listen to when you have a party at your house but also for quiet moments when you just want to relax. I bought Mika - Life in Cartoon Motion about 2 months ago and have barely stopped playing it since. Every single song is an absolute winner for me! Life In Cartoon Motion has a gentle but energetic poppy sound. Great for the kids and parents alike. Often revered but eternally loved. Mika starts with the excellent 'Grace Kelly' a tight but professional catchy track, 'Big Girls(you are beautiful)' is a personal favorite. A track with the essence of Freddie Mercury and the appeal of The Scissor Sisters.
Mika is a new found phenomenon in music, this record at times is impeccable, at others it leaves ... ...this record is well worth a tenner of anyones fortune. Whether your a rocker, indie kid, raver or easy listening fan.
Life in cartoon motion has something for everyone at least and he surely has better to come.

I heard the song 'Grace Kelly' on the radio one day whilst on the way to work. Initially I thought it was one of the most annoying songs on the radio. It seemed to grow on me the more I heard it, until one day I found myself bopping around the kitchen and singing along.
As a reward from a different survey site I was given a voucher to spend at HMV so I figured I'd buy the album and eagerly waited for the postman to deliver it. It costs £7.99 fom ... ...soon as it arrived, and I have to say I was vey pleasantly surprised. It is full of fun quirky songs that can't fail to put a smile on your face.

LOOOOOOVE (love) this album. Im not really one who strays into pop music so much as to buy the album, but having seen Mika at the V Festival this year, and having the best dance and seeing a brilliant, if short, set. I had to get it.
It took a while to get me to like Lollipop, and the hidden track. But now after having a few listens and seeing him again in concert (my rock mates will never forgive me) every song is just genius. Makes you feel good ...

LIFE IN A CARTOON MOTION – MIKA
Mika is going to be the next big pop star, and if he decides to go to the USA - The man’s going to be big big big! 24 year old Mika has already had one number hit under his belt let’s see if he has a second one with his release of Love Today.
I purchased the album from Amazon priced at £9.99 and though the front cover is quite psychedelic and you wonder what I am buying, you will surprised at the ... ...Kelly the song that got us all getting up on the dance floor he releases his second single Love Today which is just as catchy and hopefully that too will go to Number 1. Other tracks on the album I like are Relax (take it easy) & My Interpretation. If you listen to the lyrics this guy has got real talent unlike some of the naff you hear in today's charts. Some of the tracks I don't care for Happy Ending or Stuck in the Middle, but in my view everyone ...

Father Christmas bought this CD for my 3 year old at christmas and it has been played every day. She loves it and will listen to it in preference to the TV and loves it in the car. her singling along is something to behold (not that tuneful). This album is a vast improvement on her previous choices as we don't mind listening to it as well, which is lucky. Mika has certainly caused a stir! To be honest, these reviews are unlikely to be any use to you, as there's no telling as to whether you'll love it or hate it. But Personally, I love it! Mika's sound is totally fresh as well as being a regurgitation of 1000 legendary artists from over the past 40 years, the most prominent of these being Freddie Murcury (however he can also be likened to The Beatles/Scissor sisters/Elton John etc.). He's sort of camp ... ...but it has now become stale due to it being obsessively overplayed. The strongest Songs are 'love Today', 'Big Girl'(sounds like Queen's 'Fat Bottomed girls'), 'Billy Brown' (Sounds like early Beatles), 'Relax, Take it easy' and 'Lollipop'. But by far the strongest song on this album is 'Over my Shoulder', the hidden track at the end of 'Happy Ending'. It's a duet between Mika and his guitarist and it's just chilling. Absolutely love this cd. Got it for Christmas and still playing it. Really enjoy almost every song so don't end up skiping half of it (although I've obviously got my favourites...big girls, lollipop, happy ending). It just lifts my spirits whenever I play it. Poppy, easy to listen to and great fun. Hidden track at the end although I don't think a lot to that one! It's just so catchy you end up singing it all the time. I can often be found cooking ...
