Advantages: Easy to listen to Disadvantages: Not like the good old days.
...an important Metallica album.
Load is definitely not for the Metallica fan who also listens to a bit of Death Metal on the side. This is more for the fan who appreciates more Classic Metal ideas.
Lyrically I think that this album is really a step back for the Metalliboys. They started getting introspective and so started singing about cars which isn't what we've come to expect from them.
Musically this album is much more advanced than previous. ... ...mirroring each other) which gives the album and extra level and makes it sound new even after a few listens.
This should not be your first Metallica album, nor should it be your last. This has signalled the start of a new Metallica and an end to the old regime of fast and hard. ...

Advantages: Hmmm...If you like grunge, country or pop punk, there may be one or two good songs on it. Disadvantages: Ermm...how long have you got? Turgid, MTV friendly pop rubbish.
This album was a big departure for Metallica to say the least - a departure from being as heavy as hell, one of the best metal bands in the world, to the turgid waters of commercial acceptance. I expect this review to come in for a lot of flak, so I will start by answering some expected criticisms:
a) No, I don’t expect a band to constantly churn out the same album. You can develop musically without becoming a commercial pop rock act though.
... ...is rubbish because Metallica cut their hair. I really couldn’t care less about the length of people’s hair. After all, look at Bruce Dickinson.
c) I am not some "old school" metalhead to expects every band to sound like every other eighties band - but I do expect heavy metal bands who were once so vocal about it to stick to their guns and make heavy metal music.
The very least Metallica could have done here was change their name (possibly ...

Advantages: IT ROCKS!!!! Disadvantages: soem lamer tunes, but nothing TOO bad
Having read some other peoples opinions I find it hard to believe that they do not enjoy such a great album. Being a bit of a Metallica fan it was only time until I reviewed another one of their cd's, so here goes, this review will be 100 times better then my rubbish black album review!
I found this cd to be a mix of heavy songs and softer ones, a nice mix songs, some not so good, but some awesome ones. I'll go through them song by song, well I'll ... ...A nice n heavy one with great rythem and flowing lyrics (in my op :)). Very cool indeed, play it nice and loud, heh. 9/10
2X4. Cool intro, sounds like a classicy sort of rock song in my opinion. Doesn't flow quite as well as the first song, with some corny lyrics (but the sound cool some times, but I hate the crappy sounding "retrobution" bit). It's enjoyable though, I like it. 7/10
The House That jack Built. A softer one, but an utter corker of ...

Advantages: All tracks are very professional, the softer tracks are great, too Disadvantages: Nothing
(Please excuse me for my bad English). Some fans of Metallica think, all the Albums after "Black Album" are not good, because Metallica changed its style after the break of five years. Ok, this is right, but the music got better than it ever was, as I think. But well, "Garage, Inc." and "S&M" were nothing more than making money. On "Garage, Inc.", there were only old tracks and tracks, Metallica didn't write theirself and on "S&M", there were only ... ...both of them was not too bad. Before "Garage, Inc." there was "Reload", an Album, I personally don't like so much.. But when I bought the album "Load" about for years ago, I liked it from the beginning. At this time, I didn't knew Metallica very much, but the Sound did more than convince me. So, I will write all the tracks on the album with a short comment and a judgement. The tracks marked with an "x" are tracks, I also recorded as a Mp3. It starts ...

Advantages: It's virtually all classic stuff Disadvantages: The first three minutes of Poor Twisted Me are pretty lousy :)
Load is my favourite Metallica album, it was also the first one I bought. Put simply, I simply love it. A lot of people slagged the band off for having their hair cut and going ‘alternative’ but you can’t expect a band that has been going for 15 years to always produce the same material. Unless maybe they’re AC/DC.
The album has something of everything, from out and out rock with Ain’t My ***** to country and western with Mama Said to the more laid ... ...along at full throttle.
Load is different to all their other albums, including ReLoad (Thankfully, even though ReLoad was supposed to be what would have gone on the second disc of Load had it been a double album as originally planed). But that doesn’t make it a bad album, sure, it’s slower than Master Of Puppets and yes, it doesn’t have all the heavy metal classics that reside on the ‘black’ album but no band should rest on it’s laurels because ...

Advantages: Classic Disadvantages: Not for the weak of Heart.
With the exception of one or two songs, metallica have consistently produced fantastic albums. How ever, with Load, it simply is thier best yet. I do not think that there is one song on it that i do not like. From the opening sone right through to the final song The outlaw torn, this album rocks.
King nothing, the fifth track has to be one of thier real classics. It starts off with Kirk Hammett playing a real simple riff that repeats for ages, yet ... ...long live Kirk.
What could I say about the next track, what must be one of my favorite tracks by Metallica of all time "Hero of the day" This is a song that starts off life as a nice balad, but then turns into a real rip roarer of a song. The album contines with other good songs untill it gets to "Thorne within" Again, this is one that will stand the test of time. If you like Metallica, then your love Load. ...

Advantages: A diverse mix of rock and metal for all fans young or old! Disadvantages: Such a sudden turnaround - may have lost some fans already!
This album was a shock to most Metallica fans, but not me. People in my local pub used to say "This is the end for them - they've been on Top of the Pops!" Well I'm a great fan of change - there's only a certain amount of times you can play the same riff, the same pace. I thought this was a brave and well-produced album, with some excellent new styles on board. It doesn't mean Metallica have gone "soft" it means they've moved forward a bit, and are ...

Advantages: If you like the first album you can listen to it as easily as the last! Disadvantages: They have got as good as they will get.
They've been round for a long time and over the past few years have changed dramaticaly. Now with the exit of Jason Newstead, the bands bass player things will probably change again. The slagging the band get for going light weight is in some way justified but at least may show signs if integrity. I think as every Metallica fan will have to admit in the early years of there listening Heavy was the order of the day but we all get older (ugh) and mellow ... ...the Justice era or before are a little older now and although still fans like myself have chilled out a bit and find our tastes in music widen. I certainly no longer listen to a band because they are "heavy" I tend to listen to music simply because I like it. Metallica I think are growing up with the fans and instead of churning out the same old same old have simply gone the route of playing and writing music they like. Remember you dont have to ...

Advantages: Seemingly None Disadvantages: Very Weak album all round
If you've listened to any metallica and you then proceed to listen to this you receive quite a shock, how does such a great band produce such a terrible album. Everything about this album is weak, production, tracks, lyrics, guitar. but the cover is alright.
My advice to any who is thinking of adding this to there collection, is don't put the money towards something else something you'll use or actually listen to.
The release of this album should ...

...so when I forst got Load many a year ago I put it on, started listening and the first reaction was 'Is this really Metallica?!' It didn't sound anything like their previous efforts and for sometime I was debating to myself whether this was a good or bad thing.
