Advantages: Easy to listen to Disadvantages: Not like the good old days.
This album has recieved mixed reviews from many people in the past but I made up my mind pretty quick. It is not as bad as most people think. Although the album is much more Hard Rock than Thrash Metal it is still an important Metallica album.
Load is definitely not for the Metallica fan who also listens to a bit of Death Metal on the side. This is more for the fan who appreciates more Classic Metal ideas.
Lyrically I think that this album is ...

Advantages: Hmmm...If you like grunge, country or pop punk, there may be one or two good songs on it. Disadvantages: Ermm...how long have you got? Turgid, MTV friendly pop rubbish.
This album was a big departure for Metallica to say the least - a departure from being as heavy as hell, one of the best metal bands in the world, to the turgid waters of commercial acceptance.
I expect this review to come in for a lot of flak, so I will start by answering some expected criticisms:
a) No, I don’t expect a band to constantly churn out the same album. You can develop musically without becoming a commercial pop rock act ...

Advantages: IT ROCKS!!!! Disadvantages: soem lamer tunes, but nothing TOO bad
Having read some other peoples opinions I find it hard to believe that they do not enjoy such a great album. Being a bit of a Metallica fan it was only time until I reviewed another one of their cd's, so here goes, this review will be 100 times better then my rubbish black album review!
I found this cd to be a mix of heavy songs and softer ones, a nice mix songs, some not so good, but some awesome ones. I'll go through them song by song, well I'll ...

Advantages: All tracks are very professional, the softer tracks are great, too Disadvantages: Nothing
(Please excuse me for my bad English). Some fans of Metallica think, all the Albums after "Black Album" are not good, because Metallica changed its style after the break of five years. Ok, this is right, but the music got better than it ever was, as I think. But well, "Garage, Inc." and "S&M" were nothing more than making money. On "Garage, Inc.", there were only old tracks and tracks, Metallica didn't write theirself and on "S&M", there were only ...

Advantages: It's virtually all classic stuff Disadvantages: The first three minutes of Poor Twisted Me are pretty lousy :)
Load is my favourite Metallica album, it was also the first one I bought. Put simply, I simply love it. A lot of people slagged the band off for having their hair cut and going ‘alternative’ but you can’t expect a band that has been going for 15 years to always produce the same material. Unless maybe they’re AC/DC.
The album has something of everything, from out and out rock with Ain’t My ***** to country and western with Mama Said to the more ...

Advantages: Classic Disadvantages: Not for the weak of Heart.
With the exception of one or two songs, metallica have consistently produced fantastic albums. How ever, with Load, it simply is thier best yet. I do not think that there is one song on it that i do not like. From the opening sone right through to the final song The outlaw torn, this album rocks.
King nothing, the fifth track has to be one of thier real classics. It starts off with Kirk Hammett playing a real simple riff that repeats for ages, ...

Advantages: Fairly good songs, more variety... Disadvantages: Not for people expecting more metal...
...extra variety on this makes Load an even better album. It is unlikely that Metallica will do an album like this again, so if you want to see a unique stage in Metallica's history, then get this. You wont be disapointed! ...

Advantages: A diverse mix of rock and metal for all fans young or old! Disadvantages: Such a sudden turnaround - may have lost some fans already!
This album was a shock to most Metallica fans, but not me. People in my local pub used to say "This is the end for them - they've been on Top of the Pops!" Well I'm a great fan of change - there's only a certain amount of times you can play the same riff, the same pace. I thought this was a brave and well-produced album, with some excellent new styles on board. It doesn't mean Metallica have gone "soft" it means they've moved forward a bit, and are ...

Advantages: If you like the first album you can listen to it as easily as the last! Disadvantages: They have got as good as they will get.
They've been round for a long time and over the past few years have changed dramaticaly. Now with the exit of Jason Newstead, the bands bass player things will probably change again. The slagging the band get for going light weight is in some way justified but at least may show signs if integrity. I think as every Metallica fan will have to admit in the early years of there listening Heavy was the order of the day but we all get older (ugh) and mellow ...

Advantages: It would be good if it wasnt metallica Disadvantages: no where near as good as metallicas earlier albums
...not get bored. but for load im 2 mins into the first song and im bored. the band was never the same after the black album and the 5 year break and this album definatly doesnt do the band justice personally i blame money and haircuts. bands are never the same when their millionaires and dont have big hair.
when listening to the album all i hear is noise my head remains still and i never sing along i bought it months ago and have probably only listened ...

Advantages: Seemingly None Disadvantages: Very Weak album all round
If you've listened to any metallica and you then proceed to listen to this you receive quite a shock, how does such a great band produce such a terrible album. Everything about this album is weak, production, tracks, lyrics, guitar. but the cover is alright.
My advice to any who is thinking of adding this to there collection, is don't put the money towards something else something you'll use or actually listen to.
The release of this album should ...

Advantages: Yet again a new sound from Metallica Disadvantages: it finishes!
...so when I forst got Load many a year ago I put it on, started listening and the first reaction was 'Is this really Metallica?!' It didn't sound anything like their previous efforts and for sometime I was debating to myself whether this was a good or bad thing. After many listens I came to the conclusion that although this was not Metallica as I or anyone else knew them, this album was amazing. There seems to be a creepy air of mystery around the whole ...
