Advantages: great mix of songs, brilliantly produced, Nelly's fab voice Disadvantages: a couple of bad songs could potentially ruin it for the rest of them
NELLY FURTADO
It’s safe to say Nelly Furtado has undergone something of a transformation. Not so many years ago, she was a hippy chick type, singing little folk dittys about being a bird or turning off lights and the like. Her first album “Whoa Nelly” was well received but her second “Folklore” wasn’t QUITE so popular.
Then last spring, she re-emerged onto the music scene and was like a new person, not just in her sound, but in her look also. ...

Advantages: Some awsome tracks Disadvantages: A few dudd tunes!
Nelly Furtado takes an R&B spin with her third (and probably best) album...
Afraid - Opening the album is scratchy guitar chords and then a metal anthem rift with Nelly saying 'what say, what say' over and over. This is a really eclectic song it's quite atmospheric guitary (a bit Linkin Park, sorta not), it has a real electro feel in places and yet folky. It's like the bridge song from previous album 'Folklore' to 'Loose' and merging what's past ...

Review:
I don’t know what it is about that man Timbaland that makes everyone he work’s with sound so good. For example, Justin Timberlake. He works well with Nelly Furtado here. It is amazing how he manages to collaborate so well with anyone ...

Advantages: Voice and beats are so good! Disadvantages: none
So the first track on the album is called Afraid and in my opinion it is the best way to start the album off. It's upbeat, techno but has some unusual twist to it. She sings slow on it even though the song is quite upbeat. I love the lyrics and her voice sounds good on this one.
Maneater took some time to grow on me, but i really like it now. I think it's really unique and Timbaland has given her a great beat to work with. I think people have started ...

Advantages: Great transition of style, good drum hooks Disadvantages: some tracks a bit whiney
The first I heard of Nelly Furtado's 'comeback' was when I flicked over the TV and heard Maneater shouting at me. It was the beat that got me interested and it quickly became infectious and made me eager to hear more. Then followed 'Promiscuous', and I was seduced by that aswell - so needless to say I became quite eager for the album.
It hasn't disappointed, and I think all the singles have been strong, but there are one or two tracks that I don't ...

Advantages: catchy songs, influences from other albums Disadvantages: some songs seemed to have been made to fill the album
When I first heard the first single from this album, Maneater, I was pretty narked off.
I have Nelly's other 2 albums that were released before this one, Whoa Nelly and Folklore, and I really liked the style of the previous Nelly Furtado.
Now, when I heard Maneater I thought that Nelly Furtado had sold out. I thought that she had decided to make music to become famous than to make music that she enjoyed.
As more songs were released, the new ...

Advantages: Catchy songs Disadvantages: No Timberlake song and a bit of Spanish influence
I never really liked Nelly Furtado until I heard 'Maneater' but since then I have been hooked. Her whole style of music and image has changed so dramatically and suddenly she seems to have gone from hippy to hip. This album is good value for money and there is a variety of songs - some I have to admit I never realised were sung by Nelly Furtado and I already knew half the words. The new tracks are great - especially track number one - 'Afraid'. A ...

This is a fantastic CD full of danceable songs. This is the first CD I have bought of Nelly Furtado and at first I was very apprehensive as I was a bit skeptical of her "make over". However, I decided to buy it after realizing "Man Eater", which I really liked, was on the CD.
The CD is for the most part upbeat and rhythmical with some hip hop / r & b and latin influences, although it still maintains a "pop" feel.
I love the overall vibe of ...

Advantages: Good easy listening with varied beats and rhythms. Disadvantages: Need to skip past some songs.
Having been a Nelly fan for sometime, I had mixed feelings about this new album, carrying forward her previous style and mixing them with new ideas and beats I found it an interesting album but not perhaps as appealing as her last.
For those who love R & B and the new-style pop from the likes of Britney and Justin amongst others this is just the ticket. For those who preferred her folk-style format and song-bird voice this is not so much a hit. ...

Advantages: good mix of tunes, great songwriter, very individual Disadvantages: more conventional than the last album
i'm a huge nelly fan, and this album was another great hit in my books. Its easy to tell that the songs are original and that she has had a major part in creating them. this album is quite different to the first 2, but all her work is very different anyway. this album is more hip-hop, and urban than the folklore album which i adore. this doesnt put me off though, as it is just as good but in a different style. i think some listeners may have been ...
